Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - Official Teaser Trailer

I wouldn't have thought so but they've managed to keep so much about this movie under wraps that now I won't be surprised if it's the case.

I mean, Mon Mothma is in the movie. There's no way Mon Mothma can be in this but Bail isn't, unless Jimmy Smits didn't want to come back for some reason. And yet we've heard nothing about Jimmy Smits being cast. So who knows what else they could have kept secret?

Has Genevieve O'Reilly (Mon Mothma in RotS and, presumably, here) even been credited as being in Rogue One yet? I checked her IMDB and there was no credit there this morning, but now there is one.

Could be some surprise appearances/cameos.

The person in the tank is likely
Vader
and the tank is probably
an earlier version of whatever life support pod Vader uses in Empire
. The Imperial Guards are there either because
Vader is kind of helpless when in the tank
or because
the hooded guy is The Emperor

I think that the hooded figure is
Darth Vader and they just added a CGI hood specifically for the trailer so as to not spoil him yet

I guess the bigger problem is why it took so long for the first one and so little for the second, or for starkiller base for that matter?

Maybe this movie will answer that question. Perhaps some kind of scientific\engineering breakthrough was needed to make it possible, following which it just became a matter of how fast one could acquire the necessary resources. Kind of like the atomic bomb or the hydrogen bomb, the apollo rocket, the first airplanes, etc.

There is also this problem that the whole plot of Rogue One and ANH is basically that the Death Star is this invincible fortress that you need to get the blueprints for in order to find a weakness.
And in TFA all it takes to destroy it is a 2minute brainstorming around the battleplanning board and an ex-janitor's inside knowledge.
TFA's cheap starkiller base climax weakens this movie's potential and also hurts ANH.

Don't believe so. There weren't even any rumors of her being in it, whereas we know that there is concept are of
Bail and Leia
.

Doesn't look like he's kneeling to me. You can see his robe is about an inch off the floor and not bunched up like it would be if he was knelt down.
Edit: NM, watched the trailer again and he's kneeling. Me dumb.

(Obviously this is the Emperor Palpatine Surgical Reconstruction Center.)

Maybe.

It was confirmed in this EW writeup:
We know her. This is Mon Mothma, former senator and leader of the Rebel Alliance. She was the one who delivers the Rebel briefing about the second Death Star in 1983's Return of the Jedi, and she was portrayed then by Caroline Blakiston. (That's the one where "many Bothan spies died" to bring the Rebels information about the second Death Star.) Mothma was supposed to turn up briefly in 2005's Revenge of the Sith, played by Genevieve O’Reilly, but the scene was cut and she appeared only in a deleted scene on the DVD. But ... O'Reilly is back! A Lucasfilm source confirms that's her playing the character again in Rogue One -- and this time there's no chance of ending up on the cutting room floor.

Also lol:
Star Wars: Rogue One |OT| No Bothans died to bring us this information

Can we get a screen grab of Mon Mothma, for comparison to the original?

Return of the Jedi - Rogue One - Revenge of the Sith

Rogue One and RotS are the same actress.

Hmm... so you guys are saying that THIS from the end of Ep III:

Is just the Repub-Pire building it themselves already, and the bugs are already out of the picture at that point? I guess that's plausible, I dunno.

And then it took 20 more years? I guess that's fine, too... kind of kludgey. Maybe they'll have a little dialogue to explain that they had to have some big breakthrough somewhere along the line. I dunno.

I see your point but I dont consider it a big deal for me. If it's really killing you though, there is a fanedit of ep3 that also took issue with this and edited that shot with them above Coruscant rather than the Death Star. It also has Padme surviving but in poor health, matching dialogue from ep6. It is called Labyrinth of Evil.

Forgive me if I am wrong but isn't this
Darth?

Those Red Guards are Emperor Guards. I think this is the Emperor! But wait....

that strange capsule he's coming out of. Almost looks like a cloning capsule.

Could we be in for a massive shocker in that the Emperor seen in the original Trilogy is a clone?

What if the main bad guy in the new Trilogy-Snoke-is actually the REAL EMPEROR!

OMG!

Was anyone else a little freaked out by Mon Mothma in the OT? She's like a Tilda Swinton when Tilda Swinton is at her most Tilda Swinton.

Looks like it's very well made. But I have no interest in this particular story they are telling. I couldn't be more nope on death star shit and I'm hardly the only one.
