Looks Batman saves Harley after Joker ditches her to escape from him? that's Batman right here, take notes Snyder.

Batman in this trailer was more in-character than the entirety of BvS.

Snyder is producing this.

The Batman in BvS has a reason to be the way he is. This movie is supposedly set afterwards to I can see why he's acting in this manner as well.

I think it looks great, my only problem is everyone seems quiet into their characters whereas Will Smith is doing Will Smith, I'm not familiar with Dead Shot tho so it's not a big problem for be.

Whens the last time will smith didnt play will smith?

the only thing I'm a little concerned about is Rick Flagg, after Joel Kinnamin stunk up the latest season of House of Cards. Hopefully this is a role like Robocop or Run All Night which doesn't require much acting range from him. Going from Hardy to him was a mega downgrade though.

I wonder if there will be any backlash to Harley Quinns portrayal, i have no problem with it, but I cant help watching thinking some people in these times might be upset by her.
I could see people railing against Harley and Enchantresses costumes, but I feel like the real question should be what the hell is up with Katana's outfit.

This is just a fun as fuck looking movie. It's dark but it has loads of spirit and charisma. WB really needs to get more of this kinda stuff out there with the DC universe. Hopefully it's actually good and the trailers aren't just a fluke.

he's producing the entire slate of films though. but tbh i doubt he had much input in this. look at how comic book accurate all of his costumes are and then look at this film's joker/harley/boomerang etc. for instance.

this is clearly an outside project from ayer/WB that they had to fit into the rest of the plan.

edit: batman looks a lot leaner in here. hopefully they go with this look in justice league. it's great.
All the scenes look pretty good but as a trailer, I preferred the last one
yeah that trailer was Fury Road levels of extremely tight trailer editing. this isn't nearly as good but i love some of the scenes in here.

Im not diging it. I have a feeling its going to be Will Smith featuring the Suicide Squad anyways. I might get behind a Harkey Quinn movie. She seems to have good comedic timing but I guess we will see.

I used to think that, but with Leto's Joker, Margot's Harley, and Batman being in this, I think Will Smith will blend into the cast just fine. He's not going to steal or overpower every scene, that's for sure.

Nah. I'm not big on her actual writing team, by and large, but I prefer the character she's developed into to the one started as. You read the April Fools special? Good stuff, and by the writer that's going to be handling her in the Rebirth Suicide Squad book.

The idea of "anti-hero" Harley who's done with the Joker has always made zero sense to me. The logical conclusion to her character arc, the part where she severs ties with the Joker for good, should be with her dropping the whole clown persona altogether. It was only ever made to appeal to him. Right now, she's basically this whacky chick who gets into all these inconsequential hijinks, which is fine, but when she actually interacts with the Joker it becomes shit.

Harley is a tragic character, she's at her strongest when she's tied to the Joker and their love/hate dynamic is well balanced. The comics have no idea how to actually depict an abusive relationship and just feature the Joker slapping Harley literally every chance he gets while also being sexually aggressive. That just undermines both of them and misses the point. Much like a real abusive relationship, the Joker lulls her in by being charming and fun to be around, while ultimately being bad for her.

They worked best when they were a pair of villains that were mostly fun to watch, but with a tragic underlying core behind all the laughs.

This video basically sums up what I'm talking about.

BvS
Supes isn't the only metahuman out there.
They're talking about him in the past tense. The guy is asking that question in order to explain the metahuman situation.

BvS Spoiler:
I just took him talking about Superman in past tense as an indication that they knew Superman was at least good for now. Which Is why i thought it was pre-BvS but post MoS. Hmm should be interesting

Hardy would be fantastic, but maybe he deserves a bigger role too? Darkseid maybe? I don't know. Some other villain perhaps.

executive producing, basically he is doing fuck all in this movie.

His wife and him are producing all of the DC comic movies.

What does that change? Is he not in charge of making sure everything fits together in the end? IE there's a reason Bats is the way he is in BvS and there's another reason why Bats is the way he is in SS, but ultimately the reasons will make sense in conjunction?

So this is definitely post BvS, right?

I mean, the guy in the first line is
referring to Superman in the past tense. "Who would have stopped him?"
So that's gotta be after BvS right?

I love Katana's outfit. The bancho look is still decidedly Japanese without being as predictable as her usual samurai get up, and it gives her a punk edge that fits with this film's aesthetic.

Wish they'd take the damn rising sun off her face, though.

It's like a weird alternate universe version of Wayne's World at this point with all the song snatching! lol

Fuckin love Harley. Love Joker. The fresh prince finally looks like he's having a little fun but i'm scared that all the fighting we've seen him do in the trailers with his mask on is all the fighting he will do in the entire movie with his mask on.

I'm waiting for them to pull a Deadpool with his mask "Awww shit I left my mask in that taxi that had dice in the mirror...."

Good trailer, still not all that hopeful about the movie though. Sad to see Will Smith is just playing his usual character but in a Deadshot outfit.

Probably time for one more trailer between now and release. Are there any more songs they could use from Wayne's World?

I wouldn't go that far. He built the timeline of events. He didn't write the script but there will be story specifics he is responsible for.

There's big difference between producer and an executive producer. It's pretty obvious this was an Ayer thing he wanted to do and WB liked the pitch enough to fit the movie in whatever timeline they have for this shared universe.

Frankly my biggest issue with Ayer has been all of his endings. Fury was a great war movie til the last act. They seem to almost all have been really bad TBH. If that aspect can be cleaned up it should be just fine.

Someone else mentioned that he wrote Training Day, which doesn't have a good ending either.

Of course. Batman v Superman made it pretty clear that broken Batman was a one movie thing.

Still dont know what to make of this one. It looks interesting, but then I see a Joker that I just aint "feeling." Harley looks like she makes the movie though, I love every scene they show with her

Yeah there was a big EW article a month or two ago outlining how they were constructing this universe and it said to keep things easy to follow, each film will be set in sequential order. MoS > BvS> Suicide Squad > (Present day bookends of) Wonder Woman > JL etc.

All I'm saying is that if you have a huge dislike of Snyder you won't be entirely free of him here.

I think it originally meant all of the movies would follow a central theme and vibe, but now that BvS is tanking hard critically and financially following opening weekend, it probably means little going forward past Justice League. They're already spending tens of millions reshooting Suicide Squad to make it less depressing and esoteric. I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens to Wonder Woman, and if the Flash film turns out to be as jovial as the happiest portions of a good Spider-Man film.
