"Clinton took the stage for a surprise appearance at Saturday’s Inner Circle Dinner and proceeded to needle Mayor Bill de Blasio for his belated endorsement.

"I just have to say thanks for the endorsement, Bill. Took you long enough,” Clinton told her former campaign manager.

“Sorry, Hillary, I was running on C.P. time,” de Blasio replied to gasps from the crowd."

"Clinton then appeared to rescue de Blasio by saying he meant "cautious politician time.”

CP time is a racist term that refers to colored people time.

Man she shouldn't have tried to help him out. Disgusting.

That's a pretty misleading title.

De Blasio makes a racist joke and Hilary tries to save him is much more accurate

What the fuck? How does that even enter your head especially as a politician?

Never heard of it before.

Never heard CP like that before. First thing that would have jumped into my head if someone asked "what objectionable term does CP stand for" would have been Child Porn.

I've honestly never heard that reference.

CPT is well known if you're black or hang around with black people. Its a bit overplayed but it's a realish 'thing' though I would never have thought I'd see it referenced at a political rally.

I admit, I've never heard of that phrase before now. Can't imagine anyone thinking it'd be a good joke to make at an event like this one though.

Yeah, I've heard that before. Pretty dumb thing to say. Especially when you're a politician walking out on stage. You should really be measuring your words better than this. Embarrassing.

why is hillary catching heat when she tried to save the joke?

i don't even like hillary and here i am defending her
Save the joke? That was a bit.

They planned that and they fell flat. Not worth getting mad about unless you're wanting her to be a competent campaigner--then you should be pissed.

I just don't understand how she continues to fuck up on a fundamental level.

True. Very shitty situation here. It certainly doean't make her look good, but it's not a sword on her either. Her other options were ignoring, doubling down and calling him out. All bad options for the likes of Hillary.

Not a fan of her's, but that was a rather diplomatic option. Although she's getting in bed with this guy in the first placce is another thing.

I'm guessing he didn't know what the 'CP' stood for?

Maybe he thought it was a hip phrase?
That's not better.

Given the context it is highly unlikely he meant coloured people.

Given the context its exactly what he meant.

I don't know if this matters, its just super weird to me that they went for this joke.

Also - this was a fucking bit guys, she didn't just off-the-cuff that, come on.

I know what they were going for. Reminds of an Archer joke where Sterling's mom would say that she doesn't want Archer dating his black girlfriend. The joke went

"I don't want him dating a black *pause* ops field agent!"

The thing with making that type of joke is that it requires some modicum of comedic timing. DeBlasio and Hillary have absolutely NONE.

How do you know that was a joke planned beforehand by De Blasio and Clinton?
