At least he hinted that his info would discard the claim that the GPU can't keep up with XBO, let alone PS4. So at the very least, that's something.

I think Emily should realize how important she is and that people will take her tweets as maybe she's post some insider info.

It did have four times the RAM of either 360 or PS3, along with comparable CPU/GPU.
And the Wii was clearly more powerful than any 6th gen console. As much as people say "Wii is two Gamecubes taped together," the Gamecube itself was comparable to the original XBox but hamstrung by using minidiscs that only had about an eighth of the storage of the DVDs XBox and PS2 were using. Wii, besides being 1.5-2x stronger than the Gamecube (putting it comfortably ahead of the XBox and especially the PS2), used DVD-sized discs. The Wii was clearly stronger of any 6th gen console much like the Wii U is clearly stronger than any 7th gen one.

Well we have semi-hard CPU specs, but as noted they are fluid since its probably not finalized and the numbers are from unknown benchmarking rather than straight up clockspeeds and uarch data.

Kind surprised none of the leaks uses alleged code names for the cpu/gpu. Not entirely sure but isn't that generally the case? Or am I waaaay off?

IIRC LCGeek already pointed out that the CPU was better than the PS4/XB1's.

I agree with you on those. I was just going off what some of these guys were saying with her latest tweet on how it comes of as either her opinion or a rumor.
It seems she's usually clear when she tweets rumours (by stating *Rumours* in her tweets). Also, her recent tweets were clear enough, but maybe she should've stated from the get go they were her *Opinion*, at least the opening one, since people do tend to overanalyse everything that someone like her (a credible insider) says.

CPU power has been the achilles heel of this console gen, so it's promising that Nintendo took notice.

I have a question, why does she make a point to say you can get both? Isn't that obvious? If you bought an nx and already have a wii u why would you buy both its not like 3ds vs wiiu where each has there benefits. In the case wii u most likely be the inferior version. Am I missing something?
I don't know anything about about that tech, but what exactly is the market for a stardard game console that's weaker than the rest. I'm not sure who that appeals to except the Wii U audience, who will probably feel burned.

For the first time since the PS1, a more powerful CPU than Sony or Microsoft from Nintendo would not be surprising at all if Nintendo is done with the Wii/Wii U direction. At the end of the day this console is releasing at least 3 years later than its competition, which already used something conservative, specifically this.
Of course, if there is one area where Sony spent a bit of extra money over Microsoft in 2013 (and possibly Nintendo in 2016) it was the GPU.

This is relevant because it's worth noting that the PS4 and Xbox One both had low-end CPU's in 2013, but the PS4's GPU was actually mid-range at time and pretty close to a Radeon HD 7870. I could see Nintendo with more powerful GPU hardware too, but I don't think they'll enter mid-range territory by 2016 standards. Why am I saying this? Well, if someone calls the NX underpowered, if Nintendo goes for low-end in both CPU and GPU by 2016 standards, it's correct for the era even if it's more powerful than the PS4 and Xbox One. I really don't see Nintendo going mid-range on either part so it will probably happen.
I also don't know if Nintendo wants to have an absolutely gigantic SOC like Sony and Microsoft did. Sony and Microsoft both put in place decent cooling solutions on the launch models because of all of the heat generated:

I assume that datum is one point of reference supplemented by other websites (including news sites and their commentators, YouTube, etc.) and potentially focus groups and market research surveys. I mostly agree. Looking at enthusiast populations aren't total wastes, though, because those same enthusiasts often help you with on-the-ground marketing and building awareness by talking about your products for them. Pleasing your core fans can definitely help with certain products. But you're right that it would be unwise to solely rely on them in many cases.
For example, is NeoGAF the target audience for Wii Fit? Probably not, so you wouldn't shape your advertising campaign around what will make NeoGAF buy it. However, you can use NeoGAF and a number of other sites to see how you are doing perception-wise among a core audience, which may or may not be important depending on the kind of game. For example, I kind of feel like they might not care what a lot of NeoGAF and people in similar demographics think of Paper Mario: Color Splash, since their audience might be kids who watch certain TV channels and casual consumers who stroll through Target looking for games. But I also suspect that the early enthusiast and media buzz for PS4 and backlash against X1 spread beyond those circles and influenced momentum.
Enthusiasts, news sites, and "influencers" do shape the perception of their announcementsI mean, who is watching Nintendo Directs and press releases and reporting on them? I also think there's a reason Nintendo stopped allowing Likes-Dislikes on Federation Force videos that relates to how the actions of enthusiasts were influencing the perceptions of casual consumers.so I think these groups have importance. However, they're a fraction of the population, so I'm mostly suggesting that when they are speaking to certain demographics or releasing certain news, websites like NeoGAF can be one resource for collecting opinions on how they're doing.
