I sometimes post deals that I've found myself onto HUKD & this thread, and I often post deals I've spotted on HUKD into this thread.

The community is pretty toxic there and is in need of proper moderation, but it's a really good resource for getting cheap games.

It's an open webpage, you don't even have to be a member to click the deal link, I don't think you can ban some f** for saying "thanks, got 5".

I would have bitten the collectors for £20 =(.

Gah was going to get Bloodborne again to play this weekend (stupidly sold it after completion) but it's not available for Prime next day delivery. £23 is a great price for GOTY. It appears to have gone back to £29 too. Thanks for the heads up though.

Edit- it's on Shopto still with free next day. Here we go again...

Tesco Direct also has it for £24 - IIRC, there's free delivery but it can take a few days; although you can click and collect, unless you have a devlivery package, there's a couple of quid charge for orders under £30.

Cheers matey. I ended up getting it from Shopto. Haven't been there for a while as their service took a bit of a nose dive for a few years, but we'll see how it goes.

This may be a little offtopic but I just can't for the life of me find the UK GAF topic. If it exists, please point me in the right direction and I'll ask there.

I'm going to London for 4 days and would like to know if there are any shop recommendations for getting (preferably cheap, of course :P) games and/or blu-rays? I know about GAME, and I used to go to HMV but I don't know if they are still around. I guess I should check out supermarkets like Tesco and Sainsbury maybe?

Unless you're on the outskirts of London, all the supermarket branches will be Metro stores that will just sell FIFA, cod etc at horrible markups. You'd be best asking in the Britgaf thread for specific London stores.

HMV and GAME are still around, but it's a question of luck to find any bargain in there.

There's a shop in central london called Fopp, i got some pretty cheap blurays there not too long ago.

I'd recommend not giving Game or HMV any sort of life line by handing over money in their stores. Horribly marked up prices and still in the business of selling disk insurance to kids and grannies that don't know any better.

And how, I went to buy Dark Souls 3 the other day, both stores had it for £49.99, screw that.

Tesco's had it for £40, easy choice.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! And for the link to the BritGAF thread - d'oh, I was searching using "UK GAF" all the time -_-.

I'll keep Fopp and Cex in mind and skip the supermarkets! I don't think we'll buy something from GAME or HMV but might just walk in and browse a little.

I'll ask again in the BritGAF thread so as not to derail this thread further :). Cheers! :D

It's just trolling to rile people up, though trolling that is often followed through on. It's a website made for sharing deals with other people so everyone can save money, and you get scalpers gobbling up the good deals in masses and stopping others getting a good deal, all in order to spin a profit, it's the opposite of what the website is for and just discourages people posting deals, it really should be banned.

Cex is great for cheap!

They aren't cheap, especially considering everything they have is second hand. Bloodborne GOTY sells for £40 there.

Yeah there's not really any way to prevent it without fracturing the userbase tbh. I'm trading in my standard edition and saw cex give like £37 for the ce, I'm guessing the scalpers have that as a backup plan. I'd suggest bookmarking it for those that were asleep (I'd rather have been asleep ;_;) since game have things come back in Stock every few days.

Also, there's not that many small stores in London, forbidden planet is kinda cool to visit for merch I heard, but the best deals are online.

You can't stop scalpers though. Even some people on gaf do it, after a missprice you see loads being sold in the BST thread.

I think it's unfair to paint all people on HUKD with the same brush.

London used to be a Mecca for games buying, now it's a barren desert. Good deals at the bigger supermarkets and the rare stock clearance at HMV Oxford Street aside there is very little to get excited about.

Cex is great for cheap!

CEX is overpriced for what it is - their markup is almost as bad as GAME. Most the stuff (at least in my closest store) is tatty and horrible too. They don't take any care over the products they sell, and you get a box plastered with stickers and marks (one of my biggest pet peeves whenever a retail store does it).

I've quote a post I made not long ago about some of London's independent stores:

Unfortunately London has lost all its independent specialist game shops in the central tourist area. Game Focus was awesome, but it shut in 2012 iirc, I frequented it during my first year of university as it was 10 mins walk away from the central University of London campus and libraries.

However, several very good independent game shops exist in the surrounding more residential areas of London, of which I've probably visited around 15. I can't really fully recall all the names, but I'll state some rough locations that I can remember down below:

Retro Game Base on Streatham High Road (highly recommended)

A small shop called N1 Games on a side street off in Islington, near Angel Station

A shop on the Uxbridge Road (iirc) in Shepherd's Bush, right opposite the park

Games 4 U just north of Hackney Central Station (I've bought several fairly rare Wii, DS and PSP games here for a reasonable price)

A shop on Kilburn High Road, south of Kilburn Station

Games Arena in the central area of Harlesden

A shop inside the Kingsland shopping centre in Dalston

A shop on North End Road in Fulham, not far from West Brompton Station

A small shop on Burnt Oak Broadway (probably hard to find on Google, I found it accidentally one day), just north of the road with Burnt Oak Station

A shop in central Walthamstow

You've mentioned the main ones, HMV, supermarkets and GAME. Price wise though they generally won't be much cheaper then the RRP. They do occasionally have something massively discount to get rid of stock (so not nationwide deals), I remember a HMV store selling Persona 4 Golden for 5 pounds, so you might get lucky.

CEX's prices are high because a huge chunk of their transactions are handled through trades, so people with vouchers are locked to them and can't shop around for cheaper.
It's a scam.

Once again, I have to question this. RGB is miles off the beaten track and the quality of its stock is generally mediocre. They'd started vacuum sealing SFC games the last time I went there, which prevented me from checking the quality of the cart, manuals and inserts prior to purchase. Even then, there were only a handful of interesting things there.

I have acquired a second copy of Dark Souls 3 for the PS4 (still sealed). What would be the best way of gaining the maximum return on this? Cex offer £32 in cash I see..

Do we think Uncharted 4 will drop any lower? The cheapest I've seen in the last week has been £38...wondering if it will go any cheaper before release.

The Amazon price of £46 is slightly ridiculous...

worst thing about CEX is people selling locally on facebook will use them as a reference on some older last gen games, worse than those people that used to look at the highest BiN price on ebay and go from there

I used CEX's trade-in price as a pretty decent indication of what stuff was worth when I listed some stuff here. Most of it sold.

Obviously their selling price is a pretty stupid thing to use, though.

Is valkyria chronicles remaster amazon exclusive in the UK?

The best price that you'll currently find is Base.com's £16.99, I believe: http://www.base.com/Games/Valkyria-Chronicles-Remastered-Europa-Edition-PS4/VALREEPS4/product.htm

It really varies between threads - some areas are perfectly fine, but certainly at times it can get a little toxic. In fairness, though, it's probably just a small minority of people who take pleasure from trolling with the the "bought five" or similar comments. I'll post the occasional deal over there, but typically I'd be far too slow - and more commonly would try to share things from there over here.

I was fortunate enough to be able to get an order in for an Xbox One copy of the Just Cause 3 (still unshipped, mind), shortly after it appeared on HUKD, though a PS4 copy would have been my preference.

I post normal deals sometimes,I rarely even find any though... but I'm wary about LE's . Just checked the thread...Why the hell have people who ordered after me's orders shipped =@

The Bloodborne GOTY Edition for £23.85 returned on Amazon, but it appears to have disappeared again.

I bought it, but on the order confirmation page the price was £24.85, am I likely to have any luck with customer service about the discrepancy or should I not bother? It's only a quid, but it's still money

Give it a try - their CS is usually pretty good. If you have a screenshot of the lower price that would be very helpful (though I suspect that you probably don't).

Failing that, just buy it from ShopTo, which is where Amazon's £23.85 price match came from.
