"I just want the game to be successful" - too late, because
"I'm talking about adding characters that please the largest range of the community" you still think this game should be all about the 100k who will buy it regardless (proof of concept is the fact it even sold 100k as is). I get it, you've probably got FGC tattooed somewhere, you're the core gamer. Clap it up. But what you didn't get, and what you somehow still don't get is that narrowing the focus to you is not going to result in a financially successful product. It's probably a moot point by now but it's mind boggling to see you essentially pretend that ignoring the casual base was a smart move and that the company should continue in that direction with SF. Idk man, if you can't even begin to see things from the perspective of others then what's the point of discussion.
I'm really glad SnakeEyez "inspired" you but I think you overstate his importance or the importance of the presence of his favorite character. Joe Schmoe doesn't know who he is and Captain McTwitchSub already bought SFV anyway.
And then of course your retorts are always in the vein of saying people are casuals/want to pretend they're good/not as hardcore as you, etc which don't really help the old/ disproved arguments you're trying to push.
yea this is a stupid conversation now. Neither are getting their point across. But whatever I'll keep trying, I'm really getting annoyed by being misquoted.
I replied that way to the other poster because he said fans are hindering innovation. If you don't agree that's bs then stop reading now and we can agree to disagree. There is something call gameplay variety, and SFV feels very different even with some of the "same ol" characters like Sim and Gief. Snake eyes didn't inspire me, I'm saying he helps more people pick up the character. That's it. SFV is about gameplay first and foremost, so gameplay variety shouldn't be overlooked which is what you are doing if you feel Sim or Gief is "boring". Sim is pretty much a Rushdown character now lol.
On the same side, I'm trying to get my platinum trophy and hit 1 million FM. I don't always feel like playing against people and am waiting for the modes to come, more characters to try, I even recommend most of my friends to purchase in June or July. I understand both sides, and we need both sides to have a great community. But when I see stupid posts like "fans hurt innovation by being fans" that makes me assume that is a poster who is exclusively talking through a casual lens and doesn't care to acknowledge the diversity that is already in the game.
Plz stop misquoting me. That was not a general statement about casual players. That was for the person I quoted. If my assumptions are wrong about him he can speak up, but that's the assumption I have based on his comments. Both sides need to try and understand what is appealing to them about the game. And no, I don't think Capcom approach was the correct one. I always just highlight the good that is in the game, since there is already a bunch of negative.
Pleasing the 100k is important as well. I think the order should've been reversed but the FGC is what Capcom believes is the future of the game. Who are we to say they are wrong? This is a 5 year bet. You need the casual userbase to turn into the future FGC. Both sides need one another, Capcom just screwed up with who they targeted first. The 100k would have been here regardless while casuals you need content to impress so they get value out of the game. I don’t have anything tattooed on me and understand both sides of why people enjoy SF, even if I am more biased towards the competitive side.
