I don't think I have ever truly enjoyed an indie game.
My emotions upon completion or while playing them ranges from "fuck this" to "yeah, this is ok I guess".

Videogames are the worst thing that happened to the universe ever.
There I said it.
Not so much an 'gaming' opinion as it is an opinion about gaming
but
People using 'indie games' as if it is its own genre is so fucking dumb
You probably don't dislike indie games, what you probably dislike are 2d pixel art metroidvanias
Indie games cover so many different genres and styles of games that lumping them all in under one banner because they haven't been focus tested to oblivion at EA or Ubisoft is a remarkable insulting and idiotic
Star Citizen
Rocket League
Age of Decadence
Axiom Verge
None of these games have any similarities to each other but they would all get shoved in and discarded because a multi national publisher isn't telling you they're worth playing? Bizarre.
Chrono Cross was a garbage sequel. Should have been a standalone title.

I agree with you going by how much of my money is leaving me cos of themVideogames are the worst thing that happened to the universe ever.
There I said it.
Well sorry for thinking that way, it's obvious you have more knowledge than I thought. However, your OP read as a typical ignorant comment I see all the time on the internet looking down upon people who plays the games competitively mostly from fans of "real" competitive games like MOBAs, and all those "real fighters". I'm sick of those 'holier than thou' people, hence my harsh reply. There may not be a 'serious competitive community for Mario Kart' but there are still tournaments and competitive scenes for it. Heck, I've even spectated MK8 tournaments before. MK8 actually had a decent scene, with many players that took the game seriously (see MKboards). They even had clan wars and such, you can see many of these featured on youtube if you're in equal disbelief.
Melee is fine, I spoke generally. Melee released how many years ago? Smash 4 is the most popular right now (more registrants at evo, and even at my locals, people play Smash 4 over melee, typically).
Additionally, just because characters in Smash 4 are 'getting patches to balance their characters' doesn't mean that the game is very well designed for tournament play, it just means that some consideration has been thrown in that direction. If these patches are so beneficial, then tell me why a character like Palutena is considered to have an unfavorable matchup against three quarters of the cast? Look at tournament standings, a consistent set of characters are winning ever major. It's simply not like games like Tekken, or Street Fighter where it feels like the tier list is continually adapting, and anyone can suddenly take the crown (e.g. gamerbee rising to the top with Adon, Luffy rising with Rose).
As for Pokemon, yes I still play it, but there are so many things that also work, against competitive play. IVs, EVs, make competitive play and designing teams less accessible, more focused on preparation than actual battling and strategy. Pokemon Showdown is a lot of fun because you can create your Pokemon with any stats, so there is emphasis on strategy rather than prep work, but official Nintendo organised tournaments do not allow that, so it's a tedious process. In regards to the actual gameplay? It's still a glorified game of rock paper scissors that features a significant number of guess work (reads) and random elements (misses). It's not consistently determined by a players individual ability significantly enough. The only reason games like this even work at a competitive level is because of the supplementary systems (tiering, ban lists) that the community have created surrounding the game. I simply feel that if you have to modify the ruleset so extensively to craft a competitive platform then it would have perhaps been easier to accept that the game simply was not designed with that purpose in mind from the outset, and move forward.
Why play a games like that at a competitive level which requires extensive community moderation to retain sustain as a playable competitive platform, and doesn't get enough support from its developer to sustain as a career esport? That's my opinion on these games.
Ironically I actually run a Smash 4 scene in my city. I run it because I like the people that play it and the tournament atmosphere, even if I don't like the game all that much (we also feature SFV, which I do enjoy). I do enjoy Smash from time to time, but I do not feel confident that the game is designed for competitive play so I feel that to take the game seriously is very restrictive (in respect to character selection) and tedious. In a competitive game I like to feel confident that whatever character I pick, I could theoretically still become the best. I don't feel that way on Smash as I feel against an equally skilled opponent, the better character will win. There are simply too many unfavourable matchups and that stems from the fact that the game isn't very well designed for competitive play. Don't get me wrong this isn't exclusive to Nintendo's games. It happened with Marvel 2 also, and I even feel that MK is a sort of lowest-common denominator fighter.
As for your snide remark at the start of your post, nothing I posted was objectively wrong, merely my opinion. You did not need to be rude, yet you chose to be. If you wanted to debate you could have done so politely and I'd have been more receptive. While we're exchanging 'protips', perhaps check the thread your posting in before getting all sensitive. I will not waste my time reading or responding again if you chose to take that route. The thoughts I posted here were posted here because they are controversial, I am aware of that, yet I am open minded and happy to consider your counter arguments if you present them respectfully.

Yeah I feel like we have reached an end in this discussion. It's clear we just have a different interpretation of what a perfect game is.
Resident Evil 4 is a very overrated game that gets way more praise than it probably deserves. It's not scary, it's locations are crap (besides the village) the FOV is horrible, story is dogshit, Leon isn't cool at all. It's just a chore to play. Dead Space was a far better Resident Evil 4 than RE4 ever was.
Golden Eye was never very fun. It was influential and helped to validate the idea of console FPS shooters, but the clunkiness made for a bad experience.
Epic mickey is a fantastic game.
There I said it.
Transistor fucking sucks my friend.FTFY
Ni no Kuni wasn't a very fun game. It was kinda slow and boring like a lot of L5 games... At least the art, graphics, and music were nice!
It was terrible. I wanted to love it so much cause I liked the idea of a lot of the gameplay systems and I love Ghibli, but it was just crap.
Uh, weren't you like 6 when that game came out? I have no idea why I remember this, but I remember you talking like you were 7 when Parasite Eve came out (I have no idea why this stuck with me. It sort of creeps me out that I remember that honestly. Memorable avatar I guess).
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike is a great game and I don't mind the on foot sections
The word Soulsborne gives me douche chills.
borne

"waterborne bacteria"
Dark Souls 2 is far and away the hardest Souls game and I played it after DS1 and BB.
The new Doom's multiplayer is a piece of shit.

Fucking hell, literally less than an hour after this post my left shoulder button completely crapped out in the middle of hunting a G-rank Zinogre. No auto-target function, so I had to entirely rely on the shitty ass touch-screen D-pad for the camera. No switching items, so no sharpening my weapon or using nullberries. Predictably, I failed the quest. After replaying Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for the past few months on an original 3DS, I can safely say the original 3DS is the worst hardware made by Nintendo since the Virtual Boy. So much is wrong with it.
- My control stick is now broken. When I press right and down, it will continue that input, often for a couple seconds longer than I pressed the stick. I have had control sticks physically break in the past, but never something like this. It's bizarre.
- The right and left shoulder buttons have finally become occasionally unresponsive, a problem I had with my first original 3DS only days after I got it. The left button especially is starting to get annoying when I try to switch items by holding it and it fails several times in a row.
- When starting up, the home screen will sometimes load up without the actual image appearing; imagine the home screen sounds on a black background. Strangely, this does not extend to the actual game I am playing, which shows up fine even when I go to it from the black home screen.
- The upper screen is extremely difficult to see when playing with any sunlight, much moreso than other handheld systems. I literally cannot play games on the train without deliberately choosing a seat that is completely shaded.
- Not helping at all is the glare caused by the glossy surface around the screen; it's so bad there are literally third party accessories to deal with this shit.
- The battery life is terrible. Nothing new here.
- The hinge is constantly shifting when the system is closed and I'm not sure if that's normal but it sure as hell scares me.
- The entire system is an incredible eye sore because its gloss surface is constantly marred by finger prints. I'm not sure whose idea it was to give a gloss paint job to a system gamers have to constantly hold in their hands.
- 3D is a neat idea, but I'm never gonna enjoy it because with the dark screen and the glare it will make me blind in a matter of days. Not to mention it slows down certain games.
I just hate this thing. I hate that I bought it, I hate that it's constantly adding little annoyances to my gaming experience, and I hate the thought of buying another Nintendo handheld to replace it just so I can play some good games. I hate that my GBA from 2001, fifteen years ago, functions better than this. Did Nintendo just rush it to the market with no decent quality control?

So my 3DS is finally, for all intents and purposes, dead.
Fuck the Nintendo 3DS. This is the worst experience with a piece of Nintendo hardware I've ever had.
Did you play 2?I think the Bioshock series sucks. Story was kinda, yeah - but gameplay was boring.
Have you thought about waiting for a revision with Nintendo's next handheld? The XL and "New," versions of the 3DS function a lot better.
You're completely right; I've tried out the 3DS XL, and it's so much better. The New 3DS is also apparently completely better. Hell, I played the 2DS and that was an improvement. I have no idea why I bought an OG 3DS when it's so crappy compared to the revisions. I feel like an idiot.Yeah, the OG 3DS absolutely sucks. It looks ugly and hurts to play for extended periods of time. Luckily, revisions (New 3DS XL, at least) are an improvement in both aspects.
