Persona 5 getting an announcement on May 5, 2016

A few rumors have claimed the game will release somewhere between Tales of Berseria and Final Fantasy XV.

Edit: In Japan of course. And given how Atlus USA is sticking with 2016, I think it's reasonable to expect a NA in 2016, and if not very early 2017. Sorry Europe.

They still need to make sure that it runs on PS4K as well, and that takes time.

Does it? I mean if all games are backwards compatible why would they have to do this? I get what you are saying but if the PS4.5 can play all past PS4 games then why would it have trouble running the stardard P5 code?

Worldwide announcement*: July 2017

*excluding Europe, obviously lol. Like you're getting this game this decade.

The umbrella thing? A lot of people think that is Resident Evil 5 remaster but who knows...

I find it hard to believe such a rumor would be eluding to the release of 7 year old game on current gen hardware. And even if it's not related to Persona 5, I still think that's a reasonable expectation. If they delay the game again, it's going to be very damning to their and the games reputation.

I'm sure there are exceptions. For example, this game will probably run 1080p 60 FPS regardless of which version of the PS4 you have.

108030. Turn based games have a much lower priority of being 60fps

I know, my point had less to do with framerate and more to do with the fact that this is a last gen game at its heart. The regular PS4 version will likely have done everything possible to improve the experience further. Thus, the reason a PS4.5 version would not be required.

Atlus USA trolled us last year, I don't trust them anymore.

LET'S GO GUYS.

I really hope it's release date announcement time.

I'm half sure that they were just put in a shitty position because Atlus Japan screwed them over a little. I don't think they would purposely do that to us imo. Partly because of the bad rep.

Surely we can see the graphical jump from Persona 4 to Persona 5 and why 60fps would be very beneficial for it. Yeah that sounds obvious, but all the stylish dungeon gameplay makes me want 60fps.

Same. Even if your employer tells you something, it would have taken minimal common sense to not parrot "2015" whenever the topic came up.

I'll go with August 25th in Japan, and October 28th 25th in the US. I think Atlus USA has gotten things into gear already. I'm glad they're doing SMTIV: Apocalypse, so I can believe in them once again.

Sorry Europe, but I couldn't find a calendar for 20XX :(

That was a pretty terrible screw up, and since they have John shouting another date at everyone, they must be sure it releases this year. Just imagine the bad publicity if that were to happen again.

If your job is to do public relations for your company and your company tells you a game is scheduled to release in 2015, when people ask you for a release date, you say "2015" because that's your job.

It's incredible people don't understand this. Blame Atlus for fucking up all you want but acting like Hardin was deliberately trolling or lying or was stupid to keep saying 2015 when that's what he's supposed to do is ridiculous. Dude was just doing his job.

Yeah, you are right, my bad. The game should be playable by default.

But the fact that Sony has said that it would be mandatory for devs to add a NEO mode after October means that the NEO version needs to be superior to OG PS4 versions in some way, cause as you said the games should be playable by default without the NEO mode.

Wasn't there supposed to be a P5 anime/ova as well? I would expect it to get announced here along with release date.

Dude was just doing his job.
Which is the point I'm making. When doing my job I don't mindlessly do what I'm told by my superiors. Even if that's all what they were told from Atlus JP if I didn't have much promotional material, or conducted any interviews, released any PR statement, or even had a full gameplay reveal there was no way all of that would have happened in the last 4 months of last year. I would just have kept my mouth shut.

I wonder if the cheapest/fastest way of sprucing up a PS4 game to NEO would be some sort of downsampling. I think we are all over thinking how much work is going to be put into some of these NEO mode games. Especially some cross gen game.

I hope this releases this year. It is my most anticipated game.

I might have paid a little too much attention to the way the site is designed, so in alignment with the rumors I think the release date is
8/24/16
for JP.

If you're curious how I came to that conclusion:
pay attention to the number coloring, the fact it's all even/odd except for 0 and 1 can't be an accident. I expect them to reuse the same number images for the actual date announcement.

the announcement will be that they are just replacing the persona 5 cast with teddie and rise. the real persona 5

That's a pretty nice find holy shit.

Haha, damn, that's actually a good catch.

sony never said that it needs to use neo feature just that it should work neo.
This isnt a mayor deal at all.......

As I said above, games should be playable by default on NEO (as are all of the older PS4 titles like Bloodborne and such, that have been released in the past couple of years) so if that was true then there were no reasons for Sony to say that NEO mode would mandatory after October. They said something along the lines of "All games released after October should come with a NEO mode" or something like that.

I think it actually means that Devs need to add better visuals and performances for the NEO mode so that all PS4-PS4K games feel superior with NEO.

Atlas USA will stick with 2016 right until December 31st at 11:59:59 if Atlas Japan tells them to, or even doesn't give them anything at all.

Not to say that it can't happen, but don't take Atlas USA's silence as any sort of confirmation.

edit: Missed it being commented on already, lol.

Nah, you can bet most NEO modes won't make a huge difference. Games are so different case-by-case there are really no demands Sony could make for everyone beyond creating a separate mode for the hardware.
