Sony Playstation: First Party Studios & their Current Projects

They pretty much have ownership of the movie license. Well Sony Pictures has, maybe they learned to work together and Activision obviously has no interest in renewing the movie tie-in contract.

But their whole mandate is they don't publish games they don't own the IP for. It's why they (probably) passed on Sunset Overdrive.

Spider-Man game by Insomniac would be incredible. Can't think of a better fit for a developer working on this licence.

Sucker Punch? Both would do a great job

IMO? Naughty Dog. I know that they aren't the obvious choice but they are exceptional at everything they do. It would be a great opportunity for them to try something new since they've been making linear cinematic 3rd person shooters for the past decade. Open world, simple but intuitive gameplay, top of the line graphics and awesome story. They would kill it. Hell, they could probably even use the MCU Spiderman as a voice actor.

Sucker Punch games are too simple. I think they can make a good Spiderman but not an amazing one. And Insomniac is hit/miss.

I highly doubt ND would make an open world game. They value strong story telling over everything else and open world games typically suffer from poor pacing. If ND made it, you can bet it will still be a linear game, perhaps with open ended level designs like Uncharted 4. Honestly, Sucker Punch would be a good team to make a Spiderman game.

Gravity Rush team is a good choice too.

Fuck it, give it to ND.

Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time were linear Spiderman games right?

I think ND would be the last developer to make a Spiderman game though.

Traversal is great, one of the best flying experience in game.
Off topic, Jav, do you know any local store take PSVR pre-oder?
Local store? You're Malaysian, right? Anyway, no, I haven't seen PSVR anywhere in Malaysia. Could be because I'm not looking for it, though, I don't plan to buy it until a year after launch at the earliest.

After playing inFamous: Second Son, I'd pick Sucker Punch to do a Spider-Man game. Second Son has the best world traversal for a superhero game that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy.

But R+C is so good that I have faith in Insomniac.

What about Shenmue? Isn't Sony the publisher?
I thought that Sony is only offering some publishing support, but it's actually going to be an indie game. Mostly Kickstarter or otherwise crowd funded.

While I agree, I do think Sony would make the exception for a brand like Spider-Man -- especially as they more or less own the movie license. Not forgetting that he is pretty much the biggest sole superhero, and I think a proper big-budget Spider-Man game would sell very well, just like the Batman Arkham games.

Also, going by Sucker Punch's writing in Infamous: Second Son, they could totally nail Spidey.

The Sentinel and Days Gone both sound like good titles for AAA games. Sony Bend's rumored game title [Dead Don't Ride] seems like an arcade game in The Last of Us.

I dont know if it means anything, but its interesting that Days Gone was only registered in North America, and as of right now The Sentinel was only registered in Europe. Dont know if that means where developers for those titles are based.
