Zelda delayed until 2017 citing quality, in development for both Wii U and NX

Well that's disappointing as hell. This game was revealed way too early and we've seen basically nothing of it. I guess TMS is the only Wii U game I'm buying until the platform officially dies next March.

So is the Wii U the only Nintendo console without an exclusive Zelda title?

Seriously. What the heck is Nintendo gonna do this holiday then? While Sony and MS will have tons of stuff and even new hardware revision Nintendo will continue pushing the outdated af Wii U with what? Another Mario Party? Watch Paper Mario being their "big" holiday title and watch it being as awful as Sticker Star. Sigh. Oh well.

Well a March release date for a major console is interesting to say the least. I wonder if they want to come out of the gate strong in the spring with Zelda and some third party titles (likely ports from fall '16) while sprinkling Smash and Splatoon ports in the summer before getting the usually yearly games (CoD, sports, etc) and probably a new 3D Mario to headline a holiday.

Building buzz up before the holiday doesn't sound like a bad idea, if they know they have a good console with some good titles on the way. It would definitely be easier than launching in November when the pre-existing consoles will be doing the usual holiday surge.

Didn't they do this with TP and even release the Wii version first? Wii U owners won't be happy if they do that I'm sure.

I can't imagine what they're going to do for the rest of the year. More Mario? I don't see Metroid happening.

So the original rumours for NX releasing this year were probably true? They delayed the NX for some reason and fucked over Wii U owners by artificially delaying the game Wii U owners have been waiting for since launch.

Not that I'm surprised.

Yes and that just clearly tells us just how much of a failure the Wii U is. So much it wasn't even worth of having an exclusive main Zelda game.

Why? Maybe the version not for the shiny new box ends up being the best one, TP GCN was better than TP Wii.

Am I the only one not upset by tonights developments? I support them 100 percent, though the slight disappointment I have is E3 being Zelda-centric as I want more Mario love.

Being Nintendo.
I'm really not sure why ppl continue to assume things when it comes to this company.

This is a platform they are literally staking the next decade of profitability on.

People really want them to rush a video game console and games out to meet a holiday?

Glad I bought a Wii U for Xenoblade Chronicles X which turned out to be a massive step down and a Zelda that comes out with an entirely new platform.

That's what I get for having faith.

I was hoping the NX would be releasing this year but I guess not. At this point their E3 better be entirely focused on the NX and all the games for it. Focusing on the Wii U at this point is like Sony focusing on the Vita at E3. I know people love that little console but it's time to move on. It's dead.

yikes

Omg, Nintendo refusing to launch a console in a holiday period, refusing to drop the bombs at e3.

Do they not care about industry traditions??!

Such disrespect. Doooooom

So another twilight princess then. The gamecube had another zelda though, the wii u has nothing.

They have nothing for the holydays dont they? One would expect that after the last dissapointing E3 they would have enough to launch this thing in autumn

Oh well

So Wii U heads into its worst holiday lineup yet at the same time that Xbox One and PS4 begin to hit their stride.

Maaaybe Nintendo will have some unannounced games at E3 but this seems pretty bleak.

I was pretty annoyed that they delayed TP so it could be a launch Wii title and then even more annoyed when they made the GC version launch almost a month after the Wii version to try to force people to get a Wii early. It made business sense but it bothered me since I was ridiculously hyped for the game lol.

A similar scenario this time around would annoy people don't you think? Personally I don't even own a Wii U yet so this is just good news to me but I feel for Wii U owners.

If this is going to be a launch title for NX it means we'll only have to wait 3 months after 2016 ends to play it. That's not too bad.

If it's NOT a launch title and it releases in late 2017 I'm going to be really disappointed. This was the game I ultimately bought my Wii U for. It's been too long of a wait.

Good Lord. The very existence of this Zelda game is starting to feel like an urban legend. I think we have more loch ness monster footage.

Finally a release window for Mother 3 opening up

They should've announced this a year later or had it ready for last holiday
