I believe there's life on other planets that we have yet to discover. Though it can be argued there is evidence of the plausibility. That might be my whole list...

I used to believe in Santa like most kids.

What do you believe in despite no evidence? And by evidence I mean like information that a scientifically supportable consensus stems from I think

I guess my entire ethical stance. It can be argued using logic, but I can also argue an opposing set of ethics using logic too. So I can't really scientifically support one over the other.

I have no faith. It's a fundamentally dishonest position to maintain on anything. At best, I have reasonable expectations formed by information and experience.

Unicorns.

They're real. I saw a documentary about this called The Last Unicorn.

Edit: The absence of evidence is not the evidence for absence.

That there are intelligent species out on other planets right now, some doing fascinating things and others doing the equivalent of fapping to porn

I also believe there is intelligent life on other planets. Though I also believe we have never and will never make contact with any alien civilization. The cosmic speed limit is a bitch.

Also that humans are inherently good.

The existence of alien life. I don't mean that extraterrestrials are burning circles in fields or probing rural folk, but I firmly believe that life exists somewhere else in the Universe despite a complete lack of evidence to prove such a hypothesis.

God: the thread.

Expected to see this.

I mean, I try to keep that list as near to nothing as possible. Obviously, I'm probably not really great at it. I guess my morality or ethics or whatever is axiomatic, though. Like, it all comes down to a few moral truths that I think are foundational and everything builds from there, but I don't think I could empirically defend them. It's just stuff like "hurting people is bad." For the most part, though, if I can identify something I believe in without evidence, I do what I can to try and convince myself out of the position.

Life in other planets. Most likely germs or bacteria, but life nonetheless.

NeoGAF Gold

I can assure you it's real. Gold is where the good threads are at. The ones mods usually lock, or delete straight away to keep them on the down-low. It's amazing.

I'll also throw in with the people saying "life on other planets" Although I'll say that I don't really think that that's a position without any evidence (either that or I'm rationalizing my irrational position).

I mean, sure, we've never contacted aliens or seen them or seen things that aliens might leave behind, but I think that probabilistic argument for aliens is pretty strong, and I think probability should count as evidence. I mean, we know to a degree what the size and age of the universe is. We know to a degree how many galaxies and stars and planets there are. And we know to a degree what the basic components necessary for life as we know it are. I think there's a strong argument that these things are evidence for life on other planets. It's not maybe very strong evidence, but I think it counts.

"Is there life on other worlds?" is basically a math problem. We don't have observational evidence, yes, but we have calculations that imply high odds based on the massive size of the universe. I don't think that's the same as believing in... a superstitious idea.

I don't think we'll ever interact with life from other planets though. Maybe observe some lower life forms on Titan or something, but that's it.

I don't think I believe in anything without evidence, but it's possible that I do and just don't realize it. I hope that if it's pointed out to me I'll think critically about it and reconsider.

LOL

I try to keep it to nothing. It's good practice to take stock of your beliefs once in a while to make sure they are actually justifiable with evidence.

Reminds me of the awesome Arthur C. Clarke quote, "Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.”

Karma. I genuinely believe that what goes around comes around. Good or bad.

This idea completely falls apart when you look at the world as a whole. There is so much undeserved suffering. If you only consider middle class and wealthier first world people, then maybe it isn't always entirely wrong.
