Abductions.

I have a friend that swears by it - 1 time he was abducted, he says, and 3 other times he avoided it by communicating telepathically with the greys while they were standing in his room - I'd love this to be real.

Tell us more, what did he say when he communicated :)

No evidence is kinda hard to come up with. I would think most people avoid that.

But one thing I do believe with let's say, minimal evidence, is that "strong" AI, or artificial consciousness, will happen. Whether it's within my lifetime or not obviously depends on countless factors that I can't predict, but I do think it's an inevitability (barring humanity somehow destroying itself first).

Oh come on, you can't post this and not tell the story.

To be honest, and knowing GAF's usual reaction to the topic, he would get called crazy, delusional or a liar. :/

(I have never seen a ghost in my life, but a LOT of family members have told me stories that happened to them, and I have no reason to distrust them...).

Or maybe you are the only person in the Internet. The rest of us are just figments of your imagination or separate identities you built in order to deal with the solitude and loneliness of an empty network. You are typing ALL these posts. YOU have too much time in your hands.
Maybe I'm not even real. Maybe I am the internet, talking to itself.

:O

Aliens, technically there is no evidence, but it's staticastically impossible, just taking in account the size of currently known universe, for there to be no other life in the universe other than in earth, it's simply absolutely ridiculous to think life only is possible in earth, and not in even other planets with earth like conditions. It's just not possible.

In a more whimsical way, i also believe when and if we find alien life, it will be humanity finding a planet with alien life, not the other way around.

Edit:
And on that note, i also believe it's extremele unlikely, but not impossible, for there to exist human like aliens.
Reason being, currently the only known conditions in which life can bloom is earth like conditions, therefore one could assume that it's entirely possible, no matter how improbable, that in one of those earthlike condition planets, Life evolved in a very similar way, given that evolution favors the fittest for any given enviroment, and thus, earthlike planets would favor earthlike evolution.

I'd throw my hat in and state the belief of aliens as well. Not just species that are currently alive out there in the universe, but also life forms on other planets that are long dead. Be it micro-organisms or massively advanced species that died over millennia.

That somewhere out there is a decent politician who has never thought of their own well being before the people. An honest kind person who wants whats best for country and by extension, the world.

You can hear stories from people and accept that they believe they saw something without accepting it as truth.

I love delving into the origins of the universe (how black holes form, the big bang, end of the universe, etc.) but I still like to believe in God or a creator. I honestly don't follow much else relgiously so maybe that just means I'm a light theist.

The Boötes Void was created artificially by a hyperadvanced type 3 civilization of self replicating biomechanical life-forms inhabiting one of its few galaxies by using a Dyson Sphere type of technology to eat up the galaxies stars for energy :p

Definitely ALIENS.

i don't believe in zombies, bigfoot, the loch ness monster, or anything else like that but I believe totally in Aliens.

They just have to exist somewhere in this massive universe. I think it's way harder to prove they don't than do.

I have no faith. It's a fundamentally dishonest position to maintain on anything. At best, I have reasonable expectations formed by information and experience.

Technically speaking, anything you believe that you're not 100% certain of or cannot be 100% backed up by facts, no maatter how much the data point towards a solution, then you're experiencing faith.

If certainty is not absolute, even when everything points out that an outcome is the most probable, you're having faith on said probable event.

One could argue that we take everything on faith. 100%, everything.

For all we know we could be brains in a jar.

say what?
Crazy isn't it? Next, he'll say he believes the Earth to be spherical or an oblate spheroid.... What ever that means.
The Earth is flat people! I have proof!

That I'm the special one and you're all part of my dream.

Do me a favor, if you wake up from your dream, please invent everything you saw in this dream that doesn't actually exists in the waking world.

A good start would be trying to write the entirety of the Harry Potter Books on your own.

I believe there's life on other planets that we have yet to discover. Though it can be argued there is evidence of the plausibility. That might be my whole list...

I used to believe in Santa like most kids.

What do you believe in despite no evidence? And by evidence I mean like information that a scientifically supportable consensus stems from I think

I believe that cast iron is the supreme cooking vessel for all things.

That means I would have to do it again?

I was just reading an article about this subject this morning:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/across-cosmic-history-intelligent-life-common/

What are the odds that intelligent life evolved on Earth and nowhere else among the 20 billion trillion stars in the observable universe across 13.8 billion years of cosmic history?

About one in 10 billion trillion, according to researchers writing in the journal Astrobiology -- meaning it's very, very unlikely humanity is unique across the sweep of cosmic space and time.

That I'm not actually alive right now, but actually dead. The car that hit me killed me, and this is limbo.
