Salt and Sanctuary |OT| Salt for the Soul

On the final boss now which seems like such a significant step up in difficulty compared to the last 8 or 9 bosses leading up to this point. Don't even remember what they look like. I feel like if they just cut the number of bosses down and really put focus on creating a few that had varied attacks, transformed mid battle etc then it would have been better.

But for all things considered, I'm hugely impressed with the game, what a lovely little surprise it was and I can see it being one of my favourite games this year.

Has the 1.03 patch not actually been released yet? My copy of the game is still 1.01 and 'Check For Update' says there's nothing to download.

Oh shit I guess I beat it? I feel like I must have missed some stuff... Also I think I never went to the flying castle I think others mentioned. I beat a boss, dropped down something, and won.

O.O

A questions regarding Sanctuary defiling- If I seek forgiveness with the Candlelit Lady, would the Sanctuary stop being hostile? And if not, could I use the crystal sphere before the Guardians show up?

I'm also torn between committing to the Three, or the House of Splendor, or to the Iron Ones. Starting to lend towards the House of Splendor because you get to buy Diamond Clusters and Amber Idols from them, but not to hot about their poisonous healing... Any suggestion for a non-magic character?

Probably should also ask- When does magic start to get overpowered? Cause even at the TreeofMen/Inquisitor/Lamb bosses it's still more efficient to smack them with my Black Widow than my Fireball.

URGH, I made a bunch of very bad decisions.

I didn't read carefully about the number of gray pearls spent would be proportional to the number of black pearls used, that one is on me.

But HOLY SHIT is the run back to the pirate boss insane! Flying enemies hounding you is one thing but the Angsty Skeletons are complete fucking assholes! One of them teleported in front of me as I was about to make a jump and knocked me to my death- lost 20k salt.

The boss himself was a nightmare to fight with his pistol. I was staying out of his rain of fire move to shoot him, but that means every time he aims at me I was too far away to roll through him... Still manage to outgun him.

Running out of bullets now...

Why are you using Fireball when you should have spells like Lightning Barrage that melts everything?

Question, does "Extra Blunt" means it does Strike damage as well? Cause I'm running to areas that are more Slash resistant enemies and I'm running out of bullets...

Why are you using Fireball when you should have spells like Lightning Barrage that melts everything?

But it was weak to fire so I thought... @_@

Just finished it with my dex build. It was fun and tough. I loved it and her's hoping we get a sequel. In some ways, I liked it more than most Souls games but I love 2-d games.

I need to get back to this, finish my second playthrough and hopefully get the Platty at some point. It will probably have to wait about 4 or six weeks until I'm done with Alienation, Uncharted 4 and another couple of games from my backlog first though. So far it's still my favourite game of the year.

Too late to stop people from buying this turd?

- Terrible art direction (subjective)
- Terrible music, the electric guitar that sometimes plays in the background is abysmal (subjective)
- Combat; rolling in particular is unresponsive
- Boss battles become horrible after the first few
- Ridiculously imbalanced gameplay, going from super fucking easy to super fucking hard with artificial difficulty

Game just sucks massive ass. Don't buy it.

I couldn't disagree anymore with this post.

Didn't have a problem with any of this. Game isn't hard at all, SL1 was braindead compared to a legit souls title. Every single build can trivialize every encounter. The only difficult bosses at all are Witch and Unskinned, and that's because they can just RNG you into impossible-to-dodge situations. The rest have really simple patterns, even the last boss.

I recall you being mad at the devs over some nonsense, Yoshi not like this and I like you.

To everyone the game is awesome currently in my top 3 best games of 2016 so far.

Steam refunds.

And many of us really dug this game. Still worth a look, better than Lords of the Fallen anyway.

Yoshi, I usually agree with your video game tastes but in my opinion you couldn't be any further from the truth here.

Everything about this is 100% wrong.

Salt and Sanctuary is quite possibly the best indie game I've ever played and I'm happy PC users can finally experience it soon. :)

Maybe expectations were out of control here but this is made by a team of two. Not a team of 400.

For $15, I must have put at least 50 hours into it at least. It is definitely in my top 3 so far this year!

Of all the people I thought would really like this game, I'd thought it'd be Yoshican. Guess I was wrong.

Brilliant game. Loved it. One of the best games of 2016!

They've got a bunch of forum threads stickied and whatnot and on twitter implied it's coming very soon. I wouldn't doubt if the game had a 2 month exclusive period and see it launch around the 15th.

From early betas and streams we know the PC version had to have been pretty close to ready to go from the start.
