Street Fighter 5 has sold 1.4 million units across PS4 + PC (including digital). Source - Capcom's official website.

For comparison Street Fighter IV sold 3.4 million in its lifetime. Though keep in mind that SFV was shipped out with many problems and missing features that angered many early buyers - rightfully so. The good news is, the core of the game seems great and with more free major updates coming in, hopefully this spells a better future for the game.

Come to think of it, they are just over half a million copies away from Capcom's prediction of hitting 2 million copies, and it's only been out for 3-4 months.

The sales reports are only going to count the money from retail/digital sales.

What about the insane amount of money that they are going to get from Season passes, DLC characters, Costumes, Stages and god knows what else.

I was actually worried about this game. I hope it get the support it needs to make it the AAA game I wanted it to be.

Would that indicate sold to consumers or rather just shipped?

Correct me if I'm wrong but that was the target to hit by March so it's not like its doing particularly well.

Provided they can make the store work.

Also, given the monthly sales data, I expected FAR LESS. They must have had STRONG digital sales.

"Shipped", not "sold"

Props to the gameplay and characters for this. For all the bullshit surrounding this game, the gameplay's always been amazing. Every match I've seen and been apart of has been compelling to some degree. Capcom just needs to get those single-player stuff to gain the sales from those holding off on it and maybe if they do well they'll hit their 2M mark by the end of the year, sure it'll be late (since they estimated 2M March 31) but still. It can only go up if they keep adding things so let's hope they continue with these additions and let's hope they've learned their lesson.

They've already confirmed a Season 2 DLC so I guess we might actually get a Season 3 and Season 4 if this keeps up. The roster might end up larger than UCSF4s.

I don't want Capcom getting cocky, so as long it is not a failure I'm ok.

Hmm...I think their estimates were for their fiscal year - which ended on March 31st. Hence, it's target is definitely far off being achieved, though at the same time based on the start it had I think they probably didn't think they'd even make half their target (1 million). All in all, while most if not all of us expected SFV to perform far better before it was released, i bet the majority are surprised that it achieved 1.4 million already. Personally, I find it a nice surprise after seeing how woefully bad its initial sales were.

thats much better than what i thought. Some people were sure it was less than a mil.

That's how I felt as well - I thought it would achieve half a million or just over that at best. Very surprising.

In the case of digital, it's an accurate estimation for sold to consumers.

For retail though, I'm guessing narrowing down the sold to consumers is an approximation game. Shipped would be the safer option.Well yes lol, that's true.

Interesting. Very solid numbers after the horrid start.

Good news. As the flagship series in its genre it's important for Street Fighter to remain commercially successful.

Well they didn't hit the 2 mil by end of fiscal year then. It's a great game mechanically just handled terribly, so cant say its undeserved

In line with my expectation and well below Capcom own forecast (2 million units as March 2016).
Will see how much more units Capcom can ship in the coming years.

Doesn't really say which on that page though, but i would not be surprised if they are simply counting sold to retailers and not sold through
It doesn't really need to.
Publishers report sell-in data because it's what they sold to retailers (or in the case of digital sales directly to the consumer).

Not too bad, not great either.
Hopefully half of those (if they have even been sold) are still playing.

Good for them, here's hoping they give it the care it needs now. I'm one of those sales, but I took it back in two days as there just wasn't much there for me as of yet. The Guile gameplay I've seen really tickles my pickle though, so I look forward to jumping back in at a lower price point down the road.

While he might, it could be indicative of the game being overshipped, because the game shot back up in price somewhat gradually once people started buying it.

Amazon is a tiny of fraction of the game market. Unless there is some evidence of other retailers doing similar deals it is not a factor in these sales.

http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2016/jan/29/capcom-expects-street-fighter-5-sell-2-million-copies/

Capcom is predicting that Street Fighter 5 will sell 2 million copies across the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of the title, for this fiscal year.

Recent reports put the PlayStation 4 install base at 35 million globally, and Steam has over 125 million active users. Nintendo's Wii U is over 10 million sold, and Microsoft has stopped sharing sales numbers for the Xbox One, but they recently said the PS4 has a huge lead.

Very much missed that mark.

Not bad though either. I'm betting this is "shipped" and not completely sold through. Evo will be a nice time to pick up the game since it might be on sale for under $30 by then.

Still a disappointing release as an overall package. Can't even get a damned Cash Shop up. That's pretty damned inept. lol

Not great considering their 2 million expectation.
Sure, but far better than the unmitigated catastrophy some would have liked it to be. Definitely enough to ensure a steady flow of updates and DLCs, and thus extra income, provided they manage to get their real money shop running.

But GAF told me it was a total bomb failure

And for once it was right, even by Capcom's own expectations.

But yeah, less of a bomb than many realistically expected.

Also: not completely sure it's sold for the retail part, but mixing up shipped with digital sales would reek of desperation.
