Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

Did I I say the entire game? I put in over 300 hours into X/Y I know how the series plays.

You can explain type changes other ways. You guys are really limiting your imagination if you feel tradition is the only way kids can pick up on understanding how types work. It worked in Yellow.

I wouldn't say Yellow did it well if it was your first experience with Pokemon. Brock coming out and curb stomping your Pikachu after breezing through the game up to that point is kinda BS for a kids game.

Noticed a Wailmer Pail and an overworld Meowth on the trailer.

No surprise that planting berries may be returning, but I wonder if Meowth could have some significance. Sure, there were some overworld Pokémon in Gen 5 and 6 too, but considering how camera and proportions work in Gen 7, I wonder if walking Pokémon may make a return.

Don't forget that these games are made with kids in mind.

Fire/Water/Grass is the easiest way to introduce someone to how types work. Everyone knows how these things react to each other.

Yellow was a special case because it was an adaptation of the TV series where the type chart was already covered.

you got ensnared by the fire type zodiac shitposting snare

the only legitimate zodiac there are Infernape and Blaziken

Typhlosion isn't a rat at all. The "fire mouse" is a lousy translation of what Japan likes to refer to anything "mouse-like" even though it isn't, so it was taken in literally. Notice the improved translation from RS to DP, especially on Pokemon species (no more Shellfish Pokemon Blastoise).

Delphox isn't a dog or canine. Foxes aren't canine. While they share the same family as with dogs, they are distinct on their own line (a fox and a dog are both canids, but only the dog is canine while the fox is vulpine).

Charizard isn't a dragon, it's a lizard with wings. :P And no don't give me that "it's dragon egg" group, all Pokemon reptiles (even Arbok and Seviper) are considered dragons.

Oh, so Charizard is the snake of the chinese zodiac? Interesting.

Then there is still a true dragon fire starter pending. Hype!

Also Litten is a Cat, and there's a whole backstory about Cat's not being part of the Chinese Zodiac because the Rat screwed them over.

Gaf is making me like the Owl more than I thought I could.

Hopefully the owls final speed makes it the fastest starter Pokémon period and it's a Physical attacker and there's a priority Rock attack it can learn. If these things happens, oh boy I think I finally found a starter Pokémon I'll always use in game and competitively.

Oh jeez, I don't believe any of that. They're not even like a top 5 pinneped. B tier for intelligence too. I'm sure they're plenty noble though lol

Ignorance in this post truly astounding -- about on par w/ members of the family Phocidae (e.g., Elephant seal, has probably two neurons to rub together, frequently squishes extant babies in a frantic attempt to mate, harbor seal, entire foraging ecology involves sitting in kelp w/ mouth open waiting for a fish to swim in).

Sea lions currently are the only non-human animal capable of concept equivalence: http://search.proquest.com/openview...d6117c0b4c/1?pq-origsite=gscholar&cbl=1817765

And the only non-human animal shown capable of beat keeping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yS6qU_w3JQ

They also show long-term memory for concepts: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10071-002-0153-8

And respond to ostensive gestures as well as domestic dogs, who are supposedly uniquely gifted at same: http://link.springer.com/article/10.3758/s13420-014-0165-7

And all that despite having far fewer research groups devoted to studying them than most other comparative species.

Compared to their slug like phocid cousins, sea lions are basically Einstein. I'd go so far as to say that their intellect dwarfs that of the dolphin.

Hahaha hahaha hahaha hahaha

Holy Shit, they are atrocious

Charizard is a giant winged lizard that spits fire. It's a dragon. It's not a Dragon type in-universe, but it's very clearly designed as a dragon.

The fire starter is the only bad starter I've ever seen in the history of Pokemon. It's just really... plain? Almost amateurish.

The water one is dorky but not bad.

Grass! That one is great! I love it. Will pick it.

While I don't agree with the speculation on why it would be, the ability to move all Pokemon to Gen VII doesn't mean it wouldn't be a one-way thing.

Moving a Gen VI compatible Pokemon to Gen VII could convert it, making it become incompatible. And moving up a VC Pokemon would skip Gen VI compatibility, going straight to Gen VII data structure.

This. I'd be easier to remove IVs when sending them to Gen VII (from both Gen I and VI) than adding IVs when moving from I to VII. Of course, this means they can't go back to Gen VI, but that was always going to be a problem considering new moves and stuff like that.

Man, these are easily the best starter Pokémon starters since RBY! It's so encouraging to finally see this franchise back on track design wise after the disastrous last few iterations! :)

Oh geez dude, and slime molds can do complex computing. I'm not impressed, calling it one of the most intelligent animals is laughable, unless you mean it's in like the top 100 or something. It's a trash tier swimming mammal to boot. I'm not surprised nobody wants to study them. I sure wouldn't want to.

I'll take Rufflet, thank you.

Fucking adorable, the lot.

This might be the first time ever I don't go for a water starter... I'll hold off until the final forms are revealed, but the owl is just too cute.

#TeamSun
#TeamRowlet

This might be the first time I ever go Grass on my first playthrough. Popplio just looks like an extroverted Oshawott, and I doubt his evos will be as cool. Litten is so obviously going to be Fire/Dark, and it could win me over if Rowlet's evos fail. I really hope Rowlet's secondary type changes since Grass/Flying kind of sucks.

There is something off with these starters and specially the fire one as you say. Like they belong to some other cartoon or Yokai Watch. They are not bad, I like them a lot actually, but the art style looks mismatched.

I loooove these starters. I'm having a real hard time picking between grass and fire. Guess I'll wait to see what their evolutions look like.

You're being too picky on exact species (and typing on Charizard). It's a general idea as a starting point for inspiration.

It looks like X and Y, no subtle differences or enhancements

:(

What ? The characters having a full body is a major difference and enhancement. Overworld seems to have a bit more depth too. In battles you now have the trainers too. All of this knowing that the 3DS is kind of at its maximum.

And even ORAS had differences and enhancements. More subtle, but they were here.

X/Y will age horribly. First Pokémon game to age really bad.

Rowlet is great, Litten/Popplio/SunLion look okay, MoonBatThing looks awful, main characters look defaulty, rival guy and professor look great, and I'm not too thrilled for another water-heavy region as this one is looking to be but the overworld improvements seen in the trailer compared to XY are great and much needed.

Trash tier swimming? A species that can cruise at 10 mph? Where the males migrate over 3000 miles annually? Where they can cooperatively cordon and catch fish w/ the greatest of ease? I can't.... I just.... *EXPLODES*
