Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

Something about these starters is really turning me off. Can't say I want to use any of them.

Maybe I'm done with Pokemon finally. I just don't see myself playing this one. That's a first!

The overworld is a huge step forward. I'm pretty impressed, TBH. Throw some bigger cities and more varied biomes onto the other islands and we'll really have something going.

Those designs aren't very memorable. The characters aren't unique in many ways, they're just blank slates.

Yes they are

At least until gen 6

Rivals are even better (since they have personality plus a good design)

They might not be very memorable as characters, but the designs absolutely are. People will recognize them years past release, they're used all over the promotional artwork, the opposite gender of your pick plays a role in the games as a character and the female ones are used in the anime.

Why do people think these starters are worse then ever before? lol.

Like the owl is just a green colored barn owl with a bowtie, it's about as complicated as a blue turtle with a squirrel tail.

So in this game we will actually see our PC pick up the little kitten Pokemon in his hands and also see him in battle on the field, sending it out to fight. Shit is about to get kinda real

I love the owl starter.

This is probably going to be me first Pokémon in a while. The last one I played was Diamond, I guess? I loved Blue and Silver to death but I kinda fell off. The series has had some big improvements, huh? I almost don't recognize it anymore!

Pushing the graphics is great, but playing Pocket Mortys makes me wish for a Pokemon on something so modern. The resolution alone adds so much smoothness that the 3DS display simply can't do, even if this had the best graphics ever for the (now very old) hardware.

I also wonder if the Old 3DS won't get the Hyrule Warriors treatment with a far inferior experience. I hope not.

But Rathalos really isn't a dragon. It's a wyvern. Dragons, excluding eastern dragons which y'know, are like say Rayquaza, have four legs and their wings are independent. Wyverns have two back legs and their wings, often doubling as arms/legs.

Skyrim's dragons are also really wyverns =p
And Smaug in the Hobbit movie, and Vermithrax Perjorative in Dragonslayer, and God knows how many other dragons in fiction.

"Dragon" is not some concept that requires a four-legged two-winged animal. It's a general concept of a fictional reptilian monster that may or may not fly, breathe fire or poison or even some other substance, hoard treasure, be a symbol of evil or power, etc. and that's without even going into "Eastern dragon" traits. Monsters like charizard and Rathalos are very clearly based on that general image, even of they're technically not dragons in-universe.

What is "full" ? Like making your Sims or ElderFalloutScrolls character ?

I don't know if it would work well. It could end up like Xenoblade. I prefer them doing two great character designs, including clothes, then having trouble building from scratch a customization engine. Hell, they don't even know how to design a good set of clothes for each character.

I mean allowing you to pick hair/eye colour, gender, skin tone, various facial features and a selection of clothes and accessories. Obviously more clothes and stuff can come available later. You would still play as a child, since that's important to the game.

It's for kids. Gotta make it simple.
Kids aren't that stupid, GameFreak could design a simple character creator, plenty of games have.

They're specifically designed to be memorable, as one of the two will likely become an anime character.
I don't really care about the anime, but there's plenty more interesting character designs than default trainer. I'm pretty sure it's used gyms leaders as major anime characters before. Their memorability kinda wares off when you can completely change their look later in the game anyway.

It's just that some like sticking to the original design of a mythical monster, especially when there is something that is exactly how some interpret it.

I love how character customization is seemingly back in.
Funny thing is the main guy character with black hair already looks like me so I cant see my self changing it much despite making a big deal about it needing to return haha.
Happy for the diversity though, it's what Pokemon's all about, and hopefully the customization is greatly expanded from X and Y.

Now throw in Battle Frontier and the hype is so real

Why does the OP have three different release dates for three different regions? The video says it comes out on November 18th and so does the topic title, but the OP only says that for AUZ.

FIRE WINS AGAIN. But really this is literally the first time i'm looking at starters and second guessing if they're actually real pokemon even though they're real. They don't look bad, they just look kind of off in someway that's triggering me? Maybe it's the screenshot on them, i haven't see a vid of them in person. ( going to watch the vid now)

Dragons and Wyverns are different mythical beasts.

A lion is not a tiger and a tiger is not a lion. (Or for mythical comparison, a Unicorn and a Pegasus are not the same) Just because some people are unaware of the difference and make mistakes doesn't mean they're interchangeable. And while I don't generally complain about it, I'll absolutely bring it up when the topic is actually about the distinction of dragons. Such as now.

It's funny, because this is basically the 3D open world Pokémon game we've all been clamoring for for years, but if it had been made on the N64/Gamecube.

Welcome to the early 2000's, Mainline Pokemon!

Your glacial pace isn't frustrating in the least.

For me, they won't have "made it" until you can see wild Pokemon roam the tall grass...
