One of the boosters might even make the game run at 60 fps. Might be the simplest way to implement that.

It does list a speed boost on the Steam page, so that's very possible (but I'd guess it'll work like the others and just speed up all the animations and stuff too).

I love this game. I played through it the second time with a walkthrough so I wouldn't miss anything lol. I was surprised with the stuff i missed in my first playthrough.

Where'd you see that?
on gmg inspect page.

Do we reckon there's going to be no chance of forcing an unlock on frame rate?

Read they designed the game to run at 30fps which makes my piss boil.

I would think someone will find a way to unlock the framerate if it is locked. Did I miss somewhere where it was confirmed the devs locked the framerate to 30fps for the PC version?

Anyone know if there is a resolution limit?

Usually if there was they would mention up to 1080p only. But it seems like they learned their lesson and hopefully if it doesn't have arbitrary resolutions then at least a 4k option.

A lot of people will be downsampling this game

I don't see how this is even an issue for FFX anyways being a turned based combat system. I mean generally higher frame rate has a larger impact if it was a game was heavily reliant on it's speed like a twitch shooter or fast paced action game like Devil May Cry, or Fighting Game like Street Fighter.

I don't disagree, i'm just saying that changing the FPS isn't something that's likely.

Immediate purchase for me, like all FF ports on Steam. Hopefully we get word of I and II before long, considering they are just Android ports.

Yeah, annoying that we're missing I and II.

It is surprising considering how often has it been ported:

-NES
-MSX2
-PS
-GBA
-Wonderswan
-Pre smartphone era cell phone
-iOS
-Android
-Windows Phone
-PSP
-Nintendo 3DS
-Wii VC
-PSN (PS3/Ps Vita)

Y'know, technically, the game's script being tied to framerate itself isn't something that would be the problem, but HOW the script is tied to framerate.

Valkyria Chronicles' game speed is tied to the framerate, but the framerate it is tied to is able to be set as a variable. There's quite a few other games that work this way as well, like Tales of Zestiria, or the last few Need for Speed games.

a tip for those who can't be bothered to level up the whole party:

don't use the blue lion man

This is very bad advice.

FFX makes it so easy to level everyone up. You just have to participate in the battle for one turn, and everyone gets the same amount of experience even if there are more characters who took part in the battle (i.e. it's not effective to have one character battle solo in order to level them up faster). Do your best to Overkill every single enemy (especially bosses) by making sure your final blow to them deals lots of damage and you double the experience they grant you.

It's worthwhile to get Kimahri to the point where he can effectively steal some Lv. 3 Keyspheres during a specific Kimahri-only boss battle, at the very least.

Heck, you don't even need to rotate everyone in. The way random battles work in this game everyone (except Yuna) is going to see some action as you make your way through an area. It's less AP for the party, but there's not much need for levels in this game.

Yeah, I never had no problem with leveling everyone up. I never use that switch member stuff either. The game is not that grindy in terms of leveling up anyway.

It may just be me who finds him useless both as a character in the narrative and an actual asset to the team.

He's really only useful if you know what you're doing, which makes him useless on a blind playthrough.

If you're doing the international version, you can make him a thief early on, and steal some rather over-powered items like Petrify grenades; steal a few grenades and he can 1-hit KO mobs.

Even after Rikku joins, he's good for helping to steal items for beefing up Aeons and making them over-powered.

But...that's kinda it, really.

From a narrative perspective; he's basically there to make the party larger and be a confidant. He adds almost nothing.

I've said it before but I want uncropped HQ FMVs. A simple replacement mod won't do, the HD remaster ones are clearly higher res. I know most people aren't bothered by the crop though. :/

AFAIK the most powerful party combo is Tidus, Wakka and Riku. Maybe replace Riku with Auron, I can't remember who the third person is exactly.

This is pretty much end game last optional boss stuff. Except to grind 10+ hours if you want to conquer the optional bosses imo. Probably way more than 10 hours in reality.

Dark Matter becomes the most hated word you'll ever hear.

They need to be cropped, though, because they need to be the same aspect ratio as the game itself. There's stuff like the cutscene where Yuna
sends the victims of Sin's attack on Kilika
, where the scene transitions fairly seamlessly from in-engine to CG. More importantly, though, there's stuff like the part where
Tidus exits the Zanarkand dome for the first time after defeating Yunalesca. It looks like you're on a different pre-rendered background, but you're actually on the first frame of a CG cutscene, which then "unpauses" once you walk a certain distance away, rotating the scene around to show Sin and the airship.
It's a very clever trick that wouldn't work if the CG remained at 4:3.

There are a few other examples too, but you probably get the point.

Yep this is how the spells in Grandia II Anniversary Edition work too. They are basically FMV overlays that play over top the existing 3D assets. Stretching the game to 16:9 will make the spell animations look completely unaligned.

High speed and Japanese audio fuuuuuuuuck I just played and beat an undub on an emulator a year or so ago for both of those features.

Well when I have the urge again, my dream version of the game will be available.

I understand that, and I know this makes me some crazy purist, but I'd much rather have it just break the illusion and display black bars on the side even if it makes things less seamless, or even just give me the option to play the whole thing in 4:3. Awkward framing because of cropping bothers me way more.

It's a shame they didn't have the means to rerender for widescreen, I believe that's what they did for Kingdom Hearts's HD remasters

In relation to my previous emulation comment, I guess this would bother me.

Also, did Kingdom Hearts have any prerendered backgrounds? I believe that game was all 3D. No need to re-render anything. Just raise the native resolution and draw some better textures.
