Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

To many damn shapes for the cat. Here is what it should look like.

That doesn't even look like a starter way too basic. It's literally a cat. What is the theme you are going for here? Just "cat" ? Why the fire type then?

Love all the starters for the first time since gen 3, going to be real tough to pick. Some of y'all are crazy, like all the other generations had the most inspired designs.

I think I'd like the seal more with a different nose.

But it doesn't matter really because I always choose Fire starters. Litten it is.

I hope they don't mess up the final evolution. Still bitter about Emboar.

Started History:

Gen 1) Charmander
Best Gen 2) Chikorita
Worst Gen) Treecko
Gen 4) Chimchar
Not A Real Pokemon Game) The Otter
Gen 6) Fennikin
Gen 7) Litten

Such a cute little kitten. :> the seal is also totes adorbs, depending on which has the cutest final evolution will decide the starter I pick.

Starter history:
Gen I: Charmander
Gen II: Totodile (Best starter)
Gen III: Treeko
Gen IV: Turtwig
Gen V: Snivy
Gen VI: (I haven't played X/Y but I did breed one of its starters for when I restarted for an OR/AS playthrough a few months ago) Froakie
Gen VII: Litten*
.
Gen I: Charmander
Gen II: Cyndaquil
Gen III: Torchic
Gen IV: Chimchar
Gen V: Oshawatt
Gen VI: Froakie
Gen VII: Litten or Popplio

ive never touched grass pokemon my entire playthroughs as starters. mainly fire and water. However last 2 gens before sun i went water and loved thos characters. I may go litten but could change depending on final evolutions.

I do love my fire pokemon.

yeah but Meowth wasn't a basic cat tho, which is a more appropriate comparison to Litten

But I wasn't comparing to Litten, I was responding to a statement about edited Litten being "just a cat" and thus "not a Pokemon".

In response, I showed a Pokemon that's just a cat.

So, I ALWAYS choose the water starters.

Totodile is easily my favorite Pokemon of all time and I'm also a huge fan of Sandile. I'm big into crocodiles and alligators..

Now, I'm all in with this new sea lion Popplio! I just hope its evolutions will look distinct enough versus other seal/sea lion-like Pokemon such as Dewgong and Walrein. I mean, I trust the designers at the Pokemon Company, so I'm excited for more reveals.

Had there been any news regarding the release date in China?

That's what I'm more interested on, the 3DS hasn't been officially released in China either, really want to know what's happening with that.

Bulbasaur, Totodile, Treecko, Turtwig, Tepig, Chespin, Rowlet.

Bulbasaur is GOAT, Totodile is a nonentity, Treecko (and all of the Gen III starters) is lovely, and then the last three range from inoffensive to bad. Can't wait to have a good starter again!

You know I've seen it pointed out but Kukui does look a lot like Part 4 Jotaro...

Researching some new dolphin-based Pokemon, perhaps?

I don't normally grab the fire starter but that looks like the only way to go from a pure aesthetics standpoint this time. Have to see how those later evolutions look though.

For a second I thought you were claiming Totodile and Tepig were Grass Pokemon. That's a lot of grass tho!

What's the chances of this edition letting you capture a lot of the previous gen pokemon ? Like not just the gen 1 starters which X and Y had if i remember correctly, but also gen 2, 3 etc

Yup! I picked Tepig because everyone was picking Snivy, and Chespin because I felt bad after everyone jumped ship. Totodile is an obvious pick over Chikorita, the worst starter.

XY had the most previous gen pokemon available of any game in the entire series.

I'd be okay with this, if:
1) It was just a dark or normal type pokemon (not elemental).
2) It wasn't a starter.

Waay too simple. I like their original version more!

i think the final evolution will be fire/dark ( gen 6 geninja was water/dark )
but we already have fire/dark Pokemon.

You can get the majority of the gen starters in ORAS post game. and with all 4 X/Y ORAS games you can basically fill the pokedex naturally since alot of legendaries are availble in ORAS from mirage spots.

List time? List time:
I haven't played many generations (basically jumped from Gold/Silver/Crystal all the way to ORAS), but these are the ones I like the most design wise:

Gen 1) Squirtle (but I like the entire trio almost the same)
Gen 2) Cyndaquil (but I like the entire trio almost the same)
Gen 3) Mudkip
Gen 4) Chimchar
Gen 5) Snivy (none of them are solid imo, in terms of evolution forms)
Gen 6) Froakie
Gen 7) Litten

Playing ORAS I have to say that most pokemon are a let down compared to Gen 1 and 2. So I'd say Gen 3 is the worse gen I played in terms of pokemon design. It's a great game though!

I always choose the Grass starter. At first it was because green is my favorite color and grass = green, but now I just do it out of tradition.

So looks like my choice is paid off so far :)

are you talking starters specifically? not too good. xy was the first time you got other starters easily. I think all the other times that bonus starters were available, they were bonuses late in the game after beating the elite 4 or something.

While I agree VI's male character design leaves a lot to be desired, female Gen VI is top notch and is above the likes of Kris, Lyra, and Dawn. And hell even I think Leaf is plain as fuck.

Yes you're right, she's quite good and feels almost French. This is my main problem with the boy protagonist, he doesn't has any link with the Kalos/French style they set up. All the other trainers have something that make you think "Yeah, they are from this region" especially after the Kanto-Johto arc where they gave regions a true identity.

I really like the job they did with the girls overall. Leaf is plain, but this is the idea with Kanto and Red, they were giving the basis for the Pokémon games. I really like Dawn, and her sprite is really amazing in gen 4. Rosa (BW2) is the worst, or the less cool, but at least she still felt right in the region. Kris was good for a first girl in the second wave of the gen.

With gen 7 one more time the girl is better than the boy. Maybe it's the hat, but he just looks like a random schoolboy, or a younger Red with longer hair and shorter clothes. He just looks random. Compared to his rival, it's sun and moon. I know that the rival has his own personality and all, but still, the protagonist needs to have his own identity and it needs to be tied with the region (girl has flower in the hair and a knot with her shirt, it's just details). Here he just wears summer clothes, which doesn't tell much.

I hate to say that but I hope the customization will be well-done this time and we'll be able to get some good Hawaii clothes, including a hat or something.

At least now they have the right proportions. It just made them worse, especially because you saw the full models in cutscenes and then you went back to the ugly models halfway between the DS sprites and the full-scale 3D models.

And please don't tell me you think the rivals in Gen VI are the trio. No, they are your posse. Your rival is the character you didn't pick (Calem/Serena).

I don't think I said that. You prove my point actually, they so messed up the rival in X/Y that there isn't truly one*. And the kind of crew you have is the lamest idea they had with characters.

*3rd gen had kind of the same system, but the guy with green hair (Wally in English I guess?) was a great 3rd rival after the first 2 gens, kind of the anti-rival

X/Y looks better to me here, but that's mainly because of the low quality screenshot. Still, I think I like its chibi art style more.

This just makes me sad that the series is still being release on the 3DS though. It's clearly being held back by the system's resolution more than anything (the Citra screenshots of ORAS look gorgeous).
