Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

I still think the description talking about oils in its skin is hinting at a part-poison typing, Sulphur is pretty poisonous too!

It's definitely a possibility. But I'm always apprehensive about Pokedex entries/descriptions.

After all, Umbreon's description in Gold would have most people guessing it was a Poison type if they didn't know better:

When agitated, this Pokémon protects itself by spraying poisonous sweat from its pores.

I like the starters, especially the owl, it's totally adorbs and I can't wait to get a plushie of it.

The legendaries are probably the worst box legendary duo, sooo uninspired and overdesigned. It's dissapointing because Zekrom/Reshiram and Xerneas/Yvetal were great.

The playable character are really bland and I also don't care about the professor and mom. The rival look nice.

Yokai Watch 3 will look better tho ;)

It wishes it was half as good as this franchise, though.

The thing with this legendaries is that i think they are too stray from the region they are in.
Zekrom and reshiram fit on Unova because they go with the mechanization/urbanization atmosphere the games were based on. Xerneas and Yveltal played wonderfully with the "european" mythos, but here we have hawaii as the setting and a plastic-like lion and a weird moon bat for mythical creatures?

If anyone knows if there are Hawaiian tales or mythology related to this creatures then i guess i could see the point, now i really can't. It seems too random, and just hamfisted so they could go with the Title: Sun & Moon.

Reshiram is one of the most popular Gen V Pokemon. Are you getting confused with Black and White Kyurem? because that's how the SM legendaries look like.

I was excited about the lion when I heard about "Solagaleo" because I love lions and I expected better, it's face looks like a open umbrella.
Reshiram is not one of the most popular Gen V Pokémon. Its most notable for looking terrible and having a giant crotch tuft. Everyone hated them and laughed at them when they were revealed.

Meanwhile, tons of people are saying they love the sun legendary.

The Gen V legendaries clashed horribly with Gen V because they had a weird eastern spiritual theme. Same with the djins.

Amazing.

It's somewhat interesting that what may be the largest city in the game is so close to the starting village.

Even if you're forced to go counter clockwise around the island starting from the village, it still seems as though the first gym you encounter is in that city.

Since this is obviously not the full map and we saw vehicle designs in the reveal trailer, I wonder if we'll have fully-controllable boats to get from island to island

I fucking love Poke Hawaii

Not feeling the starters all that much. Probably go with Popplio just because you always know exactly how much utility you're getting from the Water starter.

There's a big port in that city, so maybe you'll hit that city and then cruise to the other islands before having to return to your home island to explore the other areas. Island-hop, one gym an island, and then for some reason, maybe plot related, you're forced to return. The volcano seems like too much for an early game area. Heck, even the waterfall might be.

Or maybe it'll be a Lumiose situation where it's a later gym that you can't access until you have so many badges.

I agree, it's a bad trailer. I can't remember the last good Pokémon trailer, I guess they just figure they might as well not waste the money.

I booted up Y after seeing the trailer for 2 minutes and played around with the menus.
I hope despite it being a potential technical limitation thing(but seriously figure it out)
we can finally have instant menus/navigation.

The whole 0.5-1 sec fade transition should not be a thing. ~_~

Not to mentioned all the other little things that will annoy you after 30 hours playing.

Get some of that P5 swagger and show of your UI in the next trailer pls x_X

Interesting to note that I'm pretty sure owls, cats and seals all exhibit nocturnal behaviour. Probably just a coincidence, but still neat given the naming scheme for this gen.

Third most popular Unova Pokemon. Reshiram has plenty of fangirls >w>

I'm amazed by the negative reactions towards the starter. Fire and grass look 10 times better than Charmander and Bulbasaur, I'd even say they're already top 3 material.

This is the starting island, obviously. The area where you are welcomed to the island and given your pokemon is in the north part of the island. You also access the falls from the starting island. The route south of the starting town is probably the first route.

All of the islands of Hawaii are volcanoes, so there's gonna be a shitload of volcanoes. Diamond Head is an extinct volcano, hence people built buildings in the crater:

My main problem with the Pokemon formula as it is today, is that going from a city to another requires that same repetitive battles against trainers in the way, many that you can't avoid. I'm not sure if that would solve the problem, but maybe if you could run from the trainer NPC when he detects you would make things better.

Or they should have more events in the way, with more exciting battles and dialogues, rather than only a set of trainers.

Oh yeah, I'm not trying to argue against it being the starting island or anything. Just that it might be possible that you'll leave and come back as opposed to exploring the entire island at once.

You're right about the volcano part. Guess it wouldn't be necessarily a later game thing at all. But now that you've educated me on Diamond Head (my knowledge about Hawaii is lacking), I'm hoping for a city built in that volcano.

Why would you avoid the base of the game? Probably the only 10/10 thing this game has is the battle mechanics (and maybe the ost); there's usually 0 story, 0 character development, graphically won't give lessons to anyone in this day and age...

Okay I really do see the Carnival theme people are mentioning. It's more apparent with Popplio with the Clown theme but i really see it with the rest of them now. Would that mean Litten becomes a reverse colored Bengal Tiger in it's final form?

Those starters are just a non-starter for me....

Mehehe... Just kidding... sorta. The seal looks super dumb, the other two are not bad. I like the owl although his palette scheme is meh, even just a darker brown would be better. Love his animations though. The cat looks alright.

As other have said though, this is pretty irrelevant as I always chose based on the final evolution.

I like the entei v2.0. He reminds me of Entei, whose design is great except the face. The crescent bat thing looks kind of weird to me at first glance.

We can only hope.

That's so cute! (and really well done)
Fan art like this is already making me love the relationship between these three.

Grass owl looks dope and the human proportions are so much better than x/y. Probably will go for Sun version and owl. That trailer makes me want to finish x version now.

The problem is not the battles. Is the way they're thrown against you. I don't usually avoid... actually, I try to beat them all until reach the next city. However, it becomes a bit tiresome, since they usually carry weak pokemons and there's nothing special fighting against them. There should be more variety in the way... like I said, maybe more events with better dialogues and stuff.

The problem with Pokemon nowadays isn't that it has too little dialogue; it has too much dialogue.
