I guess your right but if they considered it even close to Alpha Centari then LOL!
It was basically a civ 5 skin mod that for some reason lacked the gameplay that civilization games had delivered up to that point. By that I mean civ 5 made want to play one more turn every damn time but After earth just didn't have that same feeling for me at all.

It's going to be so hard to top CivV, I hope they can pull it off. Recent efforts like Beyond Earth and Starships are such boring, mediocre affairs that I'm feeling a little dubious about a Civ game for the first time ever; and I've been with the series since the days of secretly installing the first game from floppy disks on my high school's 386 computers during lunch hour.
 
Awesome! I can't wait to play this. Hopefully I won't have to wait long, as I must play it on my Mac. I dumped hundreds of hours into Civ5, oooh boy, exciting!
 
I was excited till I saw it looks like an iOS game

cmon 2K, use some of that GTA5 profit money and make this look good.
 
I really don't know what to think about those graphics. I like that it's got some colour to it, but i don't like it being cartoony. It reminds me of something that would be found in a mobile game. What they've got just lacks detail completely in some areas, the buildings and units seem alright but the terrain just looks bad to me. Dawn of war 3 seems to be doing the same thing, ignoring the art style of the rest of the series and going for a more cartoonish style.

Still, a new Civ game is awesome.
 
I wonder if this will turn out like the last two - merely "ok" at launch as vanilla, but didn't get really good until all the expansions are out.
 
Am I remembering Civ 5 with rose tinted glasses or did that one look better than 6?

Anyway, effective teaser, I'm hyped alright.
 
Sweet. I'll get it in 2 years after they finish it with both expansions.
 
I don't mind the cartoonishness, but the polycounts there are worse than I'd expect from a game five years ago. Cartoony is fine if there is detail, but we need less Torchlight 1, more Overwatch. In a world where Endless Legend exists, this shit is unacceptable.
 
Meh. It took quite a bit of time for Civ 5 to finally get good. I'll just stick with that for now. I'll take 2 expansions for them to catch up.

Game does look like some mobile tier trash game though. Not a good sign.

Funnily enough, the last two entries also didn't become great until their second expansion came out (Beyond The Sword made Civ 4 legendary, and Brave New World is so different from vanilla Civ 5 it's almost a completely different experience).
 
Interesting how they say early encounters will be "primitive", can't wait for the early conversation trees where George Washington threatens to beat my head in with a rock.
 
It looks like they are trying to imitate Total War campaign map and failing miserably. Even circa 2004 Rome Total War map looks better and more detailed than this. Those flat grounds, jesus. Is this the ipad config lol?

First impressions on graphics is not great, especially not after seeing the far more bombastic announcement trailer. Maybe it will look better in motion.
 
Non-shitty pittboss please!

make it a simple gui like civ4's my work group plays this and we had to skip 5 becuase its pittboss required our server run the full DX front end.

actually having a headless mode would be amazing too!
 
Hmm not big on the new aesthetic, hopefully it grows on me.

This reminds me that I pre-ordered Civ Beyond Earth and haven't actually played it yet lol.
