They are based on three of the most popular animals on the Internet, Owls because they are cute and misterious, Seals because they are silly and fun and cats because cats. BW2 is in contention for worst trainer designs, but for different reasons. While the Sun/Moon trainers are incredibly dull, the BW2 trainers look like their whole closet dumped on them.

I like this male trainer design because he has a fucking normal hat, a fucking normal shirt, a fucking normal pair of pants, and a fucking normal hair cut. He looks like a fucking normal human being and, as such, I really like his design.

EDIT: For reference I don't like the male designs in Gen III (weird hat), Gen IV (weird clothes), BW2 (weird everything), and XY (horrible haircut). I am personally a fan of bland.

I think I have a preference for flying-type legendaries. Lugia/Ho-oh... Latios/Latias... Yvietal... Those are the ones I think of off the bat, but yeah. The bat fits. Plus it does a goddamn moon beam so intense I expected Sailor Moon to come out.

I agree. After seeing the trailer a few more times, Popplio is not that bad. However. There is an owl starter. I can't NOT pick the owl starter. It's a little ball of feathers and adorable and I need it.

The problem with cross-gen evolutions, megas included, is it's such a crap shoot how they'll turn out design-wise x.x Lickitung - ruined, Gyarados - ruined, Manectric - what the fuck (don't care for normal Manectric, but the mega makes me wanna put it out of its misery)...

Now, I know there are people (with bad taste) who actually like Lickilicky, Mega Swampert, Mega Gyarados or even, heavens forbid, Mega Manectric. But as someone that loves Lickitung, Gyarados and Swampert, I'd rather those things not exist as they do now lol.
