Pokémon Sun and Moon Starters Revealed. Releases November 18th 2016.

This was found on the pokemon.co.jp sun and moon page, fighting and ground unused typing icons.

Popplio's evo could be water/fighting.

Litten's evo could be fire/ground

Why do people assume it's for the starters? It could be for new Pokemon they will reveal eventually. I doubt they will announce evolutions so soon since those are normally held off until launch.

So Fire and Fighting existing in the same page = it MUST mean another Fire/Fighting starter?

So why would they put those particular types up first, months before the second and third evos would be revealed, and "out of order"? If you were to pair them up, then Fire/Ground would be the pair.

And even then, I've never heard of a Pokemon, starter or otherwise, that switched primary and secondary typing during evolution.

I'd kill for just one starter having the x/Ghost type, or something. I know it'd probably be a bit too special and OP to start off with, but I'm just a bit tired of seeing the same kinds of typings in the starter trio.

But then I'm biased because Ghost types are amazing.

I know it's not likely to happen at all, but I wish they eventually realize that making certain Pokémon shiny locked is utterly useless, annoying and that they don't do it anymore.
Why even bother doing such a thing when its only purpose is to annoy fans and shiny hunters by preventing them from getting shiny legendaries?

That sh*t started quite some time ago, even if it only affected Mystery Gift/distribution Pokémon at first. It just has to end...

Literally only two starters out of 36 use those types. I know Bulbasaur is Grass/Poison, I know Pikachu was a starter once, I'm just saying that a Fire/Poison or Water/Electric starter would be more interesting that yet another Fire/Fighting.

Eh? 2 starters out of 19 (base forms, 22 if we count the new 3) use those types. I'm not sure where you pulled 36 from, since that doesn't even account for all the evolutions, which would be 58 known right now (9 for each generation 1-6 = 54, Pikachu (doesn't normally evolve in Yellow), and the three we know for Gen VII right now).

But the point is you mentioned two types that do have starters and claimed they don't. I pointed out you were wrong on that one point. That's really the end of any part I had in this discussion. I don't like seeing incorrect information when it can be helped.

Given the order of those types, Rowlet evolving into a Grass/Ground-type is also in the cards. That typing would fit well if it got a wood-focused evolution, and combined with access to Flying-type moves, Rowlet's evolution would be fairly interesting metagame-wise.

That would make Litten's evolution a pure Fire-type, which hasn't happened in a while. In Popplio's case, there is precedence of a Water/Fighting-type that isn't bipedal in Keldeo (and incidentally, the Swords of Justice are the only non-bipedal Fighting-types in general), but I guess we'll see.

I expect this to get a lot of use around here

With Sun and Moon being launched at the end o this year, it looks like that the third edition of Gen 6 won't be launching. Does that mean that Zygarde's story with the mini blobs ends here? And what's going to happen to Thousand arrows/waves?

i don't play PVP Pokemon but fighting always seems super weak. Pls no fire/fighting.
Fighting is one of the to-go offense types next to Ground.

Fire/Poison is a crappy combo though, especially if litten is supposed to be a fast, nonbulky type

We don't know. It could be a side-story in SM, the stories of Gen 6 and 7 could be related, it could be completely forgotten or it could even still get it's own Gen 7 game. No way to tell atm.

You think Gamefreak will let loose/go crazy and add multiple branching path evolution for starters? Ya know like Kyrlia having the option of going Gallade or Gardevoir?

Eevee talk made me think of this, It would honestly be interesting and something people wont be expecting.

Although it's not an outright confirmation, the way the trailer is structured makes me think this IS the starting town. Not that random house on the southern beach like some speculated.

Looks like diagonal movement. Maybe we still are stuck do a grid.

Even if so, at least the world design is less grid based so it'll hide it a bit better than XY. I'm just glad the NPCs aren't just standing dead still any more (that woman is waving her arm at a child).

would be a cool twist

That's a nice touch. With those animations I hope we get true crowds at some point. A festival!

Whatever it is, it's possible we'll see it soon - I imagine that if the PC is in a starting town it must be an early dex mon, making it a candidate for prerelease reveal.

You have to wonder if they did that intentionally. I mean, it probably was accidental but it's the only part of the trailer that's different to ours. Why not just keep them exactly the same?

Right, but it's stuck at a weird halfway point. I thought XY was odd with its pseudo-grid thing. While this is less like that, there are still some elements.

Anyone else grew to like the starters ?

I was one of the first to complain.
Now I find all three of them strangely likeable.

They certainly aren't conventional starters ,but they're all likeable in their own way.

I know not every new Pokemon is going to be designed after its region but it could be related to the (extinct) hawaiian poi dog. It doesn't particularly match up mind you, but those are neat.

It looks as if the new Mon has a studded collar sorta design. First guess is that it would be dog related. Perhaps an early one similar to Lillipup.

Rowret, Ritten, and Popprio in japanese.

Why I mean they ran out of idea even more than they had before really, Litten? Just freaking put in the K you are one step away.
