Apologies if such a thread isn't allowed but I figured some more exposure for DOOM (4) would help increase interest for the game

Gonna grab my copy on PS4 later this week and I like the fact that you can
upgrade the freakin' assault rifle with mini missiles.
Firing Rockets
from my Assault Rifle

That just sealed the deal for me~

EDIT: If you want more DOOM '16 impressions
I think Brad Shoemaker's Quick Look over at Giant Bomb shows even more enthusiasm for the game... and does a significantly better job at showing how fast, hard and awesome the game is (he plays on the Ultra-Violence difficulty, 2 up on normal that TB is playing on).

You won't be disappointed

The game is pretty damn fun and the guns are super satisfying.

Oh and upgrading the super shotgun to its full potential just makes me smile when I use it.

Much like Wolfenstein TNO, this is going to be regarded as a hidden gem. Who would have figured ID would be rejuvenating the FPS landscape with original FPS powerhouse IP's.

This game is going to be a success. The positive buzz has been too overwhelming for it not to do at least decently well. Good reviews would be icing.

this game may have had the worst marketing I've ever seen. If not for that nvidia demo it would have been a complete surprise that this game wasn't ass.

The new Doom is basically the true Doom 3. That's the highest praise I can think of for it, the game is more than I ever dared dream it would be. Absolute perfection, the best FPS I've played in years.

Agreed 100%. This is everything I've wanted out of a modern Doom and I'm so glad it didn't let me down.

Ah, no reviews yet? Would have thought some would have popped up by now.

Bethesda's marketing team for the game thought giving out review codes on the day of release was a good idea. DOOM's singleplayer (because frankly the MP is only OK at best) is one of the best examples of terrible marketing for a great game in years.

I love that the game has moments where it attempts to earnestly present exposition only for the Doom Marine to play the "Fuck this, I just wanna kill shit" card. It's delightfully meta and, especially for a AAA game in 2016, a refreshing change of pace.

why did they not send out review copies of the game I was assuming it was ass, if I knew it was good I would have got it instead of uncharted

I haven't played a Doom since Doom 1, and it's the height of single player campaigning for FPSes in my vaguely informed opinion. How does this game compare?

Seems like players feedback is great, really wonder how reviews will look at it, hopefully they can appreciate this old school style and the game will end up around 85 at least, it might help give it some good legs.

I dunno if you know about Total Biscuit, but gushing is a term used when someone feels positive about something. VERY POSITIVE about something.
And if that's what Total Biscuit feels about the new DOOM game, that should tell you all you need to know ;P

Sometimes we just want to play a game that's only being a game. No super serious back story, gameplay, etc... Just "I wanna kill shit". I keep telling myself to wait for a sale but the amount of praise of the SP is getting has me looking for a deal.

Giant Bomb seems to love it.

I haven't played it yet myself, but if it's as good as people say, hopefully it'll be the "Deadpool" of games.

I just had a feeling this game would be amazing since the reveal, the marketing may have been shit but I had hope the game was going to be a fast paced true doom revival and it was the demos they were showing were just misleading and it is <3 , bethesda really messed up with how they presented the game.

But then you get the lore about the Doom Marine and you're super into it.

This game shows what our hobby would look like without "professional" reviews. I've loved what I've seen from the community the past three days. Honest opinions about the strengths and weaknesses of the game without the taint of "Well GameSpot said this!" nonsense.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had faith in their product and an idea that consumers would like it + generate great word of mouth... but no faith in reviewers to not just want a sacrificial lamb of the week.

As soon as I saw the weapon mods, rockets on assault rifle the movement speed, fluidity of it all combining the game. I picked it up yesterday, 7 hours in and having a damn blast, wasn't expecting a good doom game but Wolfenstein The New Order made me wonder if the same would be the case for doom.

Really is showing we don't need reviews.

The game is absolutely outstanding. I love the tense moments when low on health with demons chasing get you as you frantically attempt a glory kill for health regen.

How long is SP? Is the story mode good so far?

Averages around 8-10 hours for a straightforward run...more if you play on higher difficulties. The game has lots of secret areas, parts you can revisit later with new abilities, challenges etc.

There's barely any story, it's all about the gameplay !!

the first time someone has ever used Brad as an example of someone playing a video game well

but yeah I'm really glad they are into it. He is a big Doom fan and was positive on the game even when I felt like there was no reason to be.
