Oh thank god, I like him way more than Basara, Basara just comes off as a some what nicer Axl Rose type. Him thinking he's more important than the other Fire Bomber members just rubs me the wrong way.

So far I'm mainly a Frontier, Plus and SDF 1 lover. M7 is watchable though. Mirage is life, Mirage is love. Mikumo is fucking thug life though.

That's just JUNNA tho, the singing voice for Mikumo and she's just a 15 year old being thrust into this new success.
It was an open event for people to go to and there were over 2000 people at the mini live.
They only did 4 songs from the CD tho.

Does she still make music? It's great even if it's 80's as hell, which is probably why I love this so much. I take it her stuff is in licensing hell cause this was not easy to find. I pretty much only found out who to even search for by paying very close attention to the show cause they showed her name for maybe two seconds and had her face on it which was the same as the woman in a music video in Macross 7.

It was the same in Frontier where May'n did Sheryl's singing voice but Aya Endou was her character voice. Same with Basara and Macross 7.
Most of the lead singing characters, the more mature ones, have different singing voices from character voices.

There are quite a few parallels when you think about it! Though he isn't quite as high-strung I guess?
Basara is kinda crazy because as far as I have seen he easily has the most raw potential when compared to other Macross idols, although Sharon is pretty crazy with what she can do as well.
With Ranka and Sheryl there are plausible scientific explanations for why their songs have the power they do in the series.
Basara is shown to be able to do pull off some crazy stuff even without special equipment.
I wouldn't be surprised if all of the Song-based Fold Energy pseudo-science stuff that pops up in later series is a direct result of studying Basara's singing.

My mistake for misunderstanding. Yeah Mikumo's singing voice is only 15 and people on the cast and fans of the show keep talking about how mature her voice is for her age.

Depends on which Frontier OP. The one for Lion is in its own league, but the current Delta OP is by all means better than the one for Triangular.
Not particularly surprised that I'm probably one of the only people who liked both Sheryl as well as Ranka.

I actually like Triangular a lot, but I guess it's one of those subjective things. I think it's a really good balance of classic and modern jpop arrangements. I like Lion, though it leans too heavily on the modern Seed Destiny type of OP's that aren't really my favorites. I like Ranka and Sheryl as well. I just wanted Alto to get with Sheryl cause they actually had sexual chemistry and interacted well. Pretty much I thought Sheryl knew how to talk, tease and get the most out of Alto. Ranka's more of their kid sister to me even though she's no slouch in the motivational department either. Alto loves both, but I feel that there's two different forms of love between those women.

I don't remember anything about Plus outside of a couple of songs so that's probably why I left her off. I really do need to rewatch Plus at some point. At least Sharon Apple blessed us with bad ass techno pop. So far is Delta the only Macross not to have someone singing My Boyfriend is a Pilot? I ran into that M7 ep this morning. For the most part had fun with it this morning. I even got to see Millia break out her museum piece Valkyrie and school some fools, shit was hilarious. I hope Max and Millia team up at some point again and show the young folks true skill.
I was quite surprised, Mikumo/JUNNA's voice is really amazing.
I've been assuming that the Walkure project is a direct descendant of Sound Force - from Delta we know they still have Valkyrie-scale speakers around, after all.
EDIT: I just realised - VAR control means we could get speaker-missiles again! Woo!

On the subject of Delta again, I'm curious as to whether the lifespans of Windermerians are strictly limited to 30 or so years, or if there could be an environmental factor to account for in respect to just how much strain their fold capabilities place on them, leading to them living much shorter lives if they stay on Windermere, but notably longer ones elsewhere. Part of why I wonder this is related to Frontier, where we were led to believe
that Sheryl wouldn't have long to live before that was ultimately resolved

I just view Ranka as their kid sis. I kind view Sheryl as a little motherly towards Alto, them dressing her in his mother's kimono probably doesn't help that for me either. I do agree that Alto benefits from either relationship.

was directly tied to the fact that she had vajra symbiotes but they were in her brain instead of her stomach which is where they are supposed to be. In the last episode Ranka guides them to the proper place which cures Sheryl.

What I meant was that I'm wondering if we're only being led to believe that Freyja will wind up living a relatively short life for the reasons specific to her before a story development results in that not being the case, much like Frontier also presented the prospect of "she'll die soon...wait, never mind, everything's okay now".

The series not getting released or streamed in the West doesn't exactly help here. Though I wouldn't put Zero alongside those other two, Frontier is better known than it.

They've seen them, they just don't like M7 and Frontier. I'm quite American and even I can like M7, Frontier and Delta and you don't have to go too far into this thread to get my initial feelings about Delta when I first saw it.
