Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

Polyphony captured sounds from this:

I'm really wondering how GT Sport will do this holiday. With Forza sales in a downward spiral and PC racers coming up on consoles, I just wonder how much weight a GT franchise will bring.

Ratchet and Clank proves that a good entry into a name brand that has been dormant for years can yield tons of sales. I just don't know what will happen with this game.

This looks so much better now that they're not in a frigging oval. Physics look a bit weird in the replay camera compared to GT5 though.

They haven't shown any weather effects or night driving either, have they.

What is this game. Seriously.

Are you implying that the game won't have them just because they haven't shown them yet? lol

GT5 had them, guys.

Same with Uncharted 4 so it should be interesting to watch.

They do it because, as evidenced by your post, they know people will still buy it regardless. Vote with your wallet if you expect any improvements to be made.

I would be nonplussed if this is (in the least) representative of final product that gets released in November. Sad thing is, given PD's track record, I have no reason to believe much will change.

Looking at GT6 sales I don't know about that. They'll always get people like me to buy their games but if they don't put in more effort overall their sales will continue to drop.

It's kinda making me want to play GT6...
Tbh, I'm looking forward to the revival of the GT v Forza thread. That thread was amazing.

Gran Turismo is Arsenal football club.

Too proud and principled to move with the times.

A sad day for all involved. RIP.

I think if this had knock your socks of graphics, it would probably do ok during the holidays. I think that is enough for a huge chunk of the fan base to buy it. But with mostly race cars, PS3 graphics and a focus on real racing, I think this will sell considerbaly worse than GT6. I mean, I see all the familiar faces in here, the GT die hards, the people who made leagues and tried to race proper before FIA was involved and we are all like...WTF is this? So if not for us, then who is this going to appeal to?

Edit: oh good another replay of the trailer.

This game seems stuck somewhere in 2010. Meanwhile there are some great car racing games out there that set a high standard. Which this game just doesn't meet.

Another chance to see amazingly bad mud texture at the end of the trailer. So much to cringe at and upsetting to see. Am sad.

It'll do well in Europe because they'll market the crap out of it, but it looks like it's going to struggle critically and... I think this one really needed to be a return to form. :(

Unless it dramatically improves before launch, I think Polyphony Digital may be in trouble moving forwards.

Frame-rate is terrible. What is going on here?

Why would they show something that runs worse than GT6 in 1440x1080 mode?

I'm seeing improvements but...nothing that justifies this.

Why?

It wouldn't be fair to PD to be destroyed so badly this time around.

Good thing they spent all their development time and budget on the new photomode and scapes mode then.

It's like they saw that thread and thought "we have to win" and forgot to do anything else.
