Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

Seems they're going for quality at 60fps over dynamic. Glad weather is in at least. Hopefully for all tracks.

Yea he mentioned that was the reason for the decision.

They are aiming for 1080P/60fps but there are certain part where it's not reaching full 60fps right now so they are aiming to address that until relase.

Gives me hope it'll be a locked 60fps.

I just want someone to ask them if the sounds are final? I really hope not. I couldn't believe how quiet that oval was.
They could well be. I don't think there's actually any issues with the quality of the sound that's been recording, the real issue with it is the same as it was with the early, there is no post processing used at all which means it all sounds very sterile.

The graphics were missing a lot of the post processing/tidying up effects too, I think at the moment it feels like is laking these things, even stuff that was missing in the PS3 games. It's not guaranteed but there is plenty of time for that sort of thing to be added before launch and I'm actually comfortable waiting for it.

particularly when you see the differences between the trailer that was recorded a couple of weeks ago what we were seeing yesterday.

I'm wondering with the early showing yesterday is something to do with the FiA involvement in the game now? I wonder if there was a deadline with it being an official FiA event now and it was just a matter of them getting ready what they had to have there without all the nice shiny bits having to be added.

I could of course be wrong, I often am, but I do feel comfortable that we'll end up with something akin to what we see in the racing sections of the announcement trailer from six months ago. I feel comfortable enough to be pre-ordering the on pay-day while I have a bit of free money.

I am a big fan of the game though, even with all the eccentricities they have. :)

Ok this was posted in the other thread:

The sound here is much better. I'd actually say everything is much better. Why didn't they show this last night?

It's not perfect but it's much better than the shit they showed yesterday.

I think the sound effects complaints are overblown. I just did some comparisons myself with the 458. While forza definitely has the edge, it's not a world apart. Of course, sometimes "omg worst sound vacuum kill yourself ever" translates to "I've heard better" in sane person speak.

Divergence from your topic, but I have misgivings about so many backgrounds being photographs for those travel shots. It feels...tacky? I don't know. Forza 4 did something similar with full 360-degree garage spaces which were basically indistinguishable, but even there I wish the elements were 3D models.

I don't like it at all honestly.

Not sure if it was already mentioned, but Japanese interviews just popped up and Kaz confirmed that there is no dynamic weather. This time you pick the weather before the race start.

Huge step back for the series.

Wtf have they been doing... Seriously?

Common man, the sound is still terrible. Assetto Corsa and Forza are on the low end of sound (AMS and R3E have far better sound), but they both sound a million times better than your clip. Your clip still sounds like GT6 as far as I can tell from the noisy off-screen recording.

Assetto Corsa: https://youtu.be/7GYEELoH99A
Forza Motorsport 6: https://youtu.be/Kum8-U9NXCs (edit: sorry that this guy can't drive, was the first 458 GTE clip I found)

I can understand the reasoning behind excuses in pretty much everything for GT Sport - some are good reasons, but not in sound. They knew, they had time, they had money. No excuses.

Oh I know. I was more comparing it to the rubbish we were served up on the Livestream yesterday.

No, only do dynamic weather if you're ready for it. Racing-wise non-dynamic weather doesn't make much sense, it takes away the cool and challenging and strategic elements, but they shouldn't embarrass themselves in graphics comparisons to Forza and Driveclub and this is how they can do it for now (edit: also GT6's rain was just "less grippy surface", no real hydroplaning physics, maybe those are in GTS, that would be an improvement). Don't bite off more than you can chew and then give us half-baked physics and bad framerates.

Maybe some GT6/S cars would be a little more tolerable if only PD knew what driveline dynamics were. For some reason, they just don't know how to simulate a proper clutch and transmission with all of the oscillation during loading and unloading or "on" and "off" acceleration.

I mean, the base that is there is bad, but I agree, especially something like the Ferrari 458 that has a fairly clean high-revving sound would sound a lot better with transmission and other driveline sounds.

Everyone who thinks, that being wow'ed by graphics is super important in a racing game, please take a short look at this clip from Raceroom:

...and then imagine the same with this sound.

(did Kaz really say the sound has been redone already ?? And it's what we heard yesterday?)

They were able to do it on ps3 - how is it possible they can't on better hardware? Did they have problems porting the engine, not enough time or whatever else reason?

Just as I was warming up to the game they came with this no dynamic weather news. Come the fuck on! What are they doing with GT?!

I'm hugely disappointed.

I asked in another thread - maybe they're just stalling with GTS to get more time and money for GT7? I can't see how what we've seen so far is the result from 3 years of development time. PD usually makes everyone else look bad.

Is amazing to see so many people that still saying that the game looks good.... Disappointed is the right word to define this for me... they had plenty of time to work on this game.. WTF just happened at PD.... Driveclub was an amazing showcase... I was expecting a truly next gen GT game. I know that graphics and sound is not everything on a game especially for a driving game but is about GT we are talking about here and looking what the competition can achieve with a weaker system, damn....

I love Gran Turismo as a series, it will always be my favourite racing series but I am not inspired by Sport. At all.

This massive online and series focus? I never played GT5 online. I have no interest in racing online. Single player buying and tuning, licences, all that stuff. That's my Gran Turismo experience.

Then we have a lack of dynamic weather? How do you mess that up? How does the difficult to develop PS3 version of games have a feature that is now missing on PS4?

Legitimately confused by this game existing. Did Driveclub get such a cult following, Sony felt a need for a Gran Turismo version of it with less features?

Today's Q&A session seems to be underway. Also the build on display today is even newer than the one being played yesterday.

I miss Gran Turismo 3. Don't like the changes since then with all those real-life circuits, less consumer cars, replays in 30fps and focus on quantity above quality

I think it looks better than forza but what really happened to Pd. They were doing things on ps3 which no one was doing that time and now this looks like a game that can be made by anyone.

Sorry.. but from what I've seen. The only thing that looks better than Forza is the photomode... IMO

I agree, but Forza has pre-baked lighting... then again the PS4 is more powerful...
At the end, it looks more than good enough for a racing game I could fall in love with, I kinda doubt I will though.

Sorry, GTS looks better than F6, especially Nurb. Foliage and cars are more detailed in GTS IMO.

We have thread for that and here are some comparisons :
