Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

Here is a screenshot from Forza's hood cam. You can clearly see the other cars in the reflection. In GT you dont.

Forza-Motorsport-6-Demo-Reflection.jpg

Granted Forza also uses a cheap screen space technique so even the hud shows up in the reflection but its still better then having a reflection that doesn't match the real world IMO. Not sure what Driveclub or Project Cars do but in those games you also still see cars in your cars reflections.

Now here is a old crappy pic of GT6 but basically GTS still does this.

Only the track is reflected but not the cars.

People have been making excuses for Gran Turismo's short comings and questionable priorities for damn near a decade now.

Its time to wake up, let go and call this spade a spade.

Forza isn't using screen space reflections for cars. They're doing what Bizarre Creations did in Project Gotham, cube maps that update using the previous frame rendered. This is why the cars also weirdly reflect name tags above other cars, and also exhibit the same flaw GT has (no self reflections).

From what I am seeing, I strongly believe that GT Sports is designed as a game to be compatible (and a launch title) with PS VR and PS4 basic model as a target.

The graphics looks like it’s a PS3 remastered game and not what we would expect from a next gen GT by the wizards of Polyphony Digital.

Anyway I hope that in the few months of development time they have left to get the car/driving physics right and correct some graphics (frame drops, screen tearing etch) and sound issues.

Do we know the framerate that the game runs?

Someone said they're using the GT6 engine...so....

Regarding the engine sound...

GHG posted this video of same car from Project Cars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2dBLH9GEJw

Same car IRL in-car sounds. Skip to about 4 minutes and try to ignore guy who never shuts up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSo9vjK8et8

The PCars version sounds closer to the real thing, but can anyone with a real ear tell me specifically how? I'm hearing the GTS version lacking some boominess. Of course, the project cars clip is much louder than either the real life recording or the gts clip.

I'm not so sure there's a big a chasm here as many perceive. Neither the gts or tha pcars sound is dead on the orgional, with the gts sound being slightly too muffled and the pcars one being somewhat tarted up. I'll give the nod to project cars but not a crushing victory.

lol, it seems like there's an evolution of builds or something..strange.

But yeah, that definitely sounds better.
Again though, the shifting sounds ridiculous and still sounds/behaves like previous games. It's like there's an on/off button when changing gears. No clutch play, no trans osscialtion, no variation in rpm range in either engine or trans.

Now granted, other games such as Forza also don't model a proper flex simulation or drivetrain model to a standard such as what Sector 3 has achieved with Raceroom, but there is at least a sense of driveline effects and not that weird on off effect you get with GT.

I was actually having a back and forth with one of Dave Sullivan's (Dirt Rally) audio guys and he was praising Anthony Monteil's (Raceroom) audio work and the implementation of physics driven audio. I'm guessing they've got the same ideas ahead for the next Grid game based upon his words...

Anyway, it looks like GTS is changing for the better everyday and who knows, perhaps they can nail those transmission effects for the final build..

Also the GTPlanet video of the Mazda Roadster (which they appear to have set to private?) has dashboard reflections on the windscreen. Very noticeable around 3.30

Is this essentially GT7 or will that be a seperate thing?
This is not fully featured enough (compared to past couple of numbered entries) to be considered GT7. This is basically something like a Prologue++. Has far more content than a Prologue would, but still not enough to be a main game.

GT7 should still happen, but probably won't for a few years.

I think depending on how this game does we might not get GT7.
Games like this work better with one version with constant updates like DC .
They can also make loads of money this way also .

This faithful reproduction of real-world physics provides the feedback required to improve your skill in a meaningful way, and quickly reminds one that the fastest way around a road course isn't with the hammer to the floor while sideways. In fact, as a testament to just how realistic the experience is, Gran Turismo Sport players will be able to qualify for FIA-certified motorsport licenses within the game – licenses that can be used to participate in real-world, wheel-to-wheel racing events.

Bolstering this theme of an authentic motorsport experience is the inclusion of two online championships, the Nation's Cup and the Manufacturer's Cup. Like a real-world global racing series, these two championships will pit players from around the world in scheduled racing events that will bring the fastest drivers together for online battles that will be broadcast live worldwide. Winners from each championship will be given their awards in person alongside real-world motorsports champions at the FIA prize-giving gala at the conclusion of the upcoming racing season.

I did not realize that FIA sanctioned means that you get FIA licenses in real life. Thats pretty mind blowing.

Also getting awards together with rest of FIA class winners/champions is amazing.

While they have been doing their competitions for a long time now, and winners were able to race for real teams, this is likely a first time I have felt that game enters real world.

This is true VR to real life.

GT7 on name alone would sell more than GT Sport. Frankly I feel they'd be foolish to ditch the numbering. You get the same questions over and over again. "Is this like a prologue" "Is a proper GT coming out later"

They've set expectations with GT5 and GT6 in terms of how much content they launch with. This isn't like DC which was a brand new franchise. People expect a numbered entry with a ton of content, and they know there are in-between entries for those folks who don't want to wait long.

Even if they come to the decision to use this game as a platform for the remainder of this gen and come out with constant updates for whatever reason, I guarantee you they'll "relaunch" the game later with a big update and call it GT7.

Easiest way to notice them is to look behind the rearview mirror. It is pretty much consistently being reflected throughout, and other dashboard reflections show up in that general area too when they get lit up by the sun.

Cant wait to have the steel case game on my hands. How come they never released the special edition with die cast cars beyond the R35 GT5 game in the US? I would buy the European limited edition in a heartbeat if it was available here.

Seems like a poor initial trailer, but the actual game seems to be shaping up nicely. I'm not sure if they will do a relaunch or a big content GT7, but I preordered it.

I do want my 1000+ car version though, so I'll be good with this being constantly updated or another release of GT7 in 2018.

I thought it means a 24 hours race in Nurburgring! :( like the Northern Isle Speedway 300mile: a 300mile race in that track.

Now that you mention it it could be true, but it is a layout of the Nurburgring track so it could go either way.

Either way, we should bear this in mind: Gran Turismo 4 also had two 24h races (that were a full 24h long) with no day/night cycle. If dynamic weather has been removed, then it's possible that dynamic TOD has been too, and it's possible that the endurance races are unchanged because of that.

I think we basically just need to wait for official confirmation because after seeing that weather was removed anything could be possible.

The audio in all of those are way off.

The main sound in that car is transmission whine, which is totally missing in pcars and gt.

There is no such thing as the Nurburgring 24h track. There is a 24h race on the Nurburgring but not the way.

The track that has the Nordschleife + GP connected is well known as the 24h layout. Whether it's unofficial or not it's named that way in a few games (and then you have others like PGR4 where it's called "The Behemoth" lol)

Yes there is. There is a layout of the track that is called Nurburgring 24h. The 24h layout includes the Grand Prix section of the track.

That's a much better video you found there because the car is actually running wot like the ones in-game. That particular one on that particular day has a very loud trans, surely. Maybe the all sound like that? Either way that sound is missing from both games, like you said.

The sound is better in the MX5 clip but still needs work. There is no exhaust note and the engine needs to be louder vs the environmental noise. Close though, but the MX5 is an easy car.

It's called Nordschleife. It's even written on your picture there.
