By the way, before anyone says it, this thread is no doubt a thread some people may consider bragging. But that doesn't mean it should just be about the really crazy things, as there's always someone who will have done something crazier, it could be anything you considered opulent that you've experienced. There will be people who post in here that have done my below stay casually.

We just finished a trip in Dubai where I had the most opulent experience of my life. It was absolutely ridiculous and to be honest, it's a little bit hard to "come back down". I hope that's not the last time I ever experience something like this, and it motivates me to work hard, but it may be.

There was a lot of amazing things like desert safari with dinner in an old arabian castle, sky tour at burj khalifa, swimming with dolphins, diving with sharks, atlantis, amazing michelin-level dinners, dubai mall, dubai fountain, ferrari world, abu dhabi tour, etc. All of it was opulent, but nothing was as opulent as staying at the Burj Al Arab.

Our floor had our own reception, and we had our own personal butler who handled anything we needed. And the room was the nicest thing I've ever stayed in:

We had dinner at almost every restaurant in there, from dinner "below the sea" to lunch "in the sky". We got a couples body massage and scrub while looking at the world (the islands). Swam in an indoor pool with intricate marble while enjoying arabian coffee and dates. It was just absolutely ridiculous how opulent everything was.

Probably staying in a timeshare while at Disney. It was a nice resort with a huge pool area and concessions, but it doesn't hold a candle to gold trim in fucking Dubai.

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise. We could see the Disney ship miles away and we're still able to hear the constant music as we both followed the same path to port before going to our separate private islands.

To contribute: I flew first class the other week...from SF to LA. lol. $50 upgrade but saved me $125 in baggage fees, so a net benefit of $75 on top of the comfy seat

I got lucky. I got food poisoning somewhere between end of Dubai trip and Tokyo where we're currently living. The above was from over a week ago.

Even the complimentary breakfasts delivered to our suite were opulent with caviar added to the eggs benedict:

I stayed in the one in Chicago on company business and it sucked

The mini-fridge was full of their crap so I had zero space to cool water I bought down. Bed was decent but the shower was garbage. The location was cool and all, but I wouldn't pay my money to stay there.

I had dinner in the private party back room of a Chinese restaurant when I was like 10.
The room had just the one long table in it, seating about 12 people, and all the walls were intricately carved and painted with lots of deep reds and gold leafing.
There was a musician in the corner of the room that played as the meal went on.
We tried Bird's Nest and Shark Fin soup, and nobody would tell me how Bird's Nest was made until I'd tried it, and then they laughed at the faces I made.

I've also stayed in and had dinner service at a handful of Irish castles.

I did a lot of traveling as a kid.

I paid for a lavish cruise to a private island for me and my girl, we were there with maybe 20 other couples and staff. They really went out of their way to make sure everyone had exactly what they wanted at all times.

I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise before that. To compare them: the private trip was like staying in a $500/night hotel, RC a roadside motel. No exaggeration.

Brother was shipping off to basic for the Coast Guard and we got a reservation for a private room at the Ruth's Chris in Boston, which is located in the old city hall.

The private room is the vault with a minimum $700 minimum spending requirement or something and like constant service and an insane amount of amazing food.

Best food I've had and probably the best food service experience I've had, it was kinda a taste of the "high life" or something, hopefully I get to experience something like that again when I finish school.

Honestly not much. I have never really spent much time around anyone who was more than just "well off."

I guess the closest thing for me would be when I occasionally get luxury box tickets to Dodgers or Kings games from vendors at work. Those are pretty nice and it is certainly annoying to sit in the cheap seats again once you have been in the luxury box.
