Pilaf gang is approaching team rocket tier. Toei needs to lay off for a while.

Edit - do you guys think we will get another DBS movie anytime soon? And given where the anime is now, it won't be reinterpreted back into the anime and be more like the DBZ movies? I don't like how the movies were made into anime episodes.

I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a movie in July, that would line up perfectly with BoG and F.
I actually kinda like this Superhuman Water thing as a concept, this episode just used it in a really throwaway/fillery way.

In bed last night I was imagining this whole saga where this really strong dude and his goon squad is looking for this secret thing that was said to be stored away by this really ancient (but now long dead) strong guy. The secret thing was rumored to be able to turn one into the ultimate warrior. They follow some leads. The Z squad is also trying to get help and follow their own leads so they can find this thing before the bad guys. Maybe something lead the villains to Earth, so that the good guys already had an encounter with them and know what's up with them.

Anyway, they go to some other planets, discover that the secret thing stored away by the ancient dude is the superhuman water. They figure out what planet it's on, but maybe not exactly where it is. Strong bad dude, his goon squad, and the Z-fighters all head there. Some things happen. The main bad dude maybe gets defeated or something, but one of his not as strong but still competent goons get to the water anyway. Then it absorbs him, turns him into an even more powerful version of himself. Maybe at some point, one of the good guys get absorbed too (like Vegeta in this episode, but it could be anyone). Fights go down. It turns out that the superhuman water is actually semi-sentient with the soul of the ancient strong dude who was said to be the one who stored it away in the first place. Somehow, the ancient strong dude gets fully revived by the water being put into action. Either he turns out to be the super strong last boss of the arc, or he's actually good and stored it away for the sake of the universe, and helps the Z-Squad fight off the extra powerful goon and/or evil Z-squad member.

And then of course have a lot of interesting character dynamics and encounters based around this outline.

edit: the last thing i wanted was for my fanfiction to be at the top of a page
I would have liked it if the water perfectly copied people and the arc would be a lot of "Who can you trust?"

That's a cool idea.

Those aren't even redraws, the only thing changed in those images are colors, backgrounds, giving Krillin hair and then a bad filter over top to try and make it look like cel animation.
They didn't even get the colors right, they used Funimation's original bad colors, the colors should be lighter, especially Goku's undershirt and Piccolo's gi, though Gohan's skin is too light.

I'm just looking at that 3rd pic and am imagining the wind sound effect blowing while the screen pans ever so slowly from left to right for about 10 minutes with no movement from the characters, just like the good ol days

why do people constantly do those old style redraws? they always look off with tons of inconsistencies.

Funny, i opened this page randomly saw the screens and thought "wow these look very cool, kinda like the old anime... maybe Super is worth watching!" and then you say they are redraws...

...i'm now sad :(

the show is worth watching now that we're going into new story content.

I don't think Super's colors are too far off from what they should be in terms of the character coloring, I made some really rough edits.

Doing Toriyama's work.

I still don't like the cleanliness of the lines in Super. It looks weird. It doesn't feel like Dragon Ball.

I'm looking at Super from far away with little bites of this and that here and there sincerely reading Toriyama's sneak peek it would seem everything but worthwhile, adding to that the pacing, the artstyle, the script and the bouncy (and i'm being good here) technical quality... yeah thanks but no thanks.

finally caught up with super again.

think I am just gonna crawl into a hole and ignore things until june 12th :P

not impressed with the last few eps at all.

I actually do miss those ambiant sounds with tense silence. They serve to create an atmosphere. Instead of that, we get Random Goofy Music #1 and Tense Music #2.

I hate Super's soundtrack :(.

im not crazy about super's overall mood, but I get it. they couldn't bring it back if it took itself too seriously. they was just something that felt weird and dark about z. that was cool to me.

This most recent arc that finished a few weeks ago (which was the first original arc for Super) was really good, the pacing is far better than Z's ever was, the writing is pretty solid most of the time and the animation has been pretty good for awhile with only little dips here and there (usually not even lasting a whole episode), and it's still continuing to get better.

I like Super's art direction a lot more just because it's more consistent overall.

When I recently went back and watched some DBZ the characters episode to episode looked so much different and it really throws me for a loop nowdays.

Why not give up this anime totally?

Love the old style, Cell/Buu is my default head DB artstyle. I still love the look of OG DB - Frieza Saga as well, but Cell/Buu has a nice balance of some sharper mature looking characters while still retaining that classic iconic look.
