This is the biggest bullshit.

It wasn't a useless barometer when the Bulls won 72 games. I don't think you've been alive long enough to understand how hard it is to win 73 GAMES. It's pretty much at the point where people think that a 74 win team might not ever happen.

Bulls and other teams back then had to work their asses off to win those games. these days you can't play as tough of a defense, allowing the warriors to keep chucking up shots.

Could someone explain to me how homecourt advantage system works in the playoffs?

Team with higher regular season wins gets home court advantage in a playoff series. Order of games is first 2 games at home of higher seed, next 2 games at home of lower seed, game 5 at home of higher seed, game 6 at home of lower seed, and game 7 at home of higher seed.

winning or losing one of the 7 games doesn't affect it though?

if you start off at home, you have a better chance at being up 2-0 in the series, and even if you lose the next two, if you win game 5, you'll be up 3-2 and you'll be in a better position.

Wait, are people actually saying they'd rather have 73-9 and a championship rather than two championships? !

Why are you even watching the playoffs then? Seasons over lifelongs!

Fair weather fans it feels like.

Do people remember the year Pat's went 18 - 1 as great? No, they remember the Giants winning and beating them. What will be remember from this season if GS loses, OKC stopping them in their tracks.

Wonder if Curry will get dumped on anywhere near as much as LeBron would if he were in this situation.

Of course not. LeBron would be crucified if he flopped like Curry has so far. Let's not forget Steph sucked in the finals last year too

Doubtful since it's the WCF. The decision is what earned Lebron a lot of haters. Plus the sports media is in love with the dude and his family.

tbh the WCF may as well be the finals this year

Nah LeBrons still going to win one for Cleveland.

Also it's hilarious this Automator guy is arguing about EPL to justify why the GS Warriors should be crowned champs.

GTFO dude. Champions league is the playoffs for soccer.

Losing teams STAY wishing for a Regular Season Championship trophy.

It doesn't work that way. For anyone. Just take the L. Series aint over yet, but if they lose, that's that. No concessions, you lost.

Take what L?

This will forever be known as the team with the best record that didn't win a title, no one is going to give a shit about regular season accomplishment after this

It's 18-1 all over again except they don't even make the finals

So the GS warriors are the 2007 pats? Hahaha

Being undefeated in NFL regular season is much bigger deal than 73 and 9.

Pats suffered worse imo. Not only did the perfect season come to an end but Tom Brady got wrecked by everyone for talking shit about not scoring a lot vs the Giants D. There was a lot of salt in general from all directions after that Super Bowl. Much more than now.

73 and 9 is just not a big deal tbh. I think Warriors could very well push for 74 wins next year if they get some more firepower in free agency.

honestly I think 73 wins is a bigger deal. it's a larger sample size and they had to play every other team in the league multiple times. plus for some added context teams were going at them night in and night out to be the team that beat golden state, especially when they opened the season undefeated.

The Giants were a much bigger underdog back in 2007 compared to OKC. They were a wild card team that year. This OKC team just knocked off the Spurs who were also really good. It was just much bigger impact in 07. Plus Eli threw that one impossible pass for the dagger. Going undefeated in the NFL for an entire calendar year is just more special imo. Giants legit crashed a historic event.

If they don't win a championship this year and don't make it to the final/win the ship next year with Luke(people are saying is the mastermind behind this offense) leaving. The love for this dude and family will go down.

oh I was just talking going undefeated in the NFL vs. getting 73 wins in the NBA

the super bowl loss for the pats was much worse than this OKC series will be for the warriors

If the Thunder close out the series, are they one of the best teams in history? They would certainly be a better team than the Warriors since they beat them on the court.

They are the better team in the series, but they are not the better team throughout the season. It's simple.

Only idiots mock such a great achievement.

Only idiots think championships are won in the regular season.

You can keep living in this dream world which is fine but no one else will take you seriously. What the Warriors did was a good achievement but I am sure if you ask anyone on that team what they cherish more, a record or a championship, I am 100% confident that every player would say the latter.

Edit: also, that great record that GS got on that night wasnt even the biggest NBA story of that night, it was Kobes last game and him dropping 60. If the Warriors do lose this series, more people will remember Kobes last game over their record.

Doesn't it change to H-H-A-A-A-H-H during the finals?

winning or losing one of the 7 games doesn't affect it though?

So to start, the order (for the team with the better record) is H-H-A-A-H-A-H.

IF the away team wins game 1, now the away team only has to win their home games to win the series since 3 games will be played at each arena and they've already won 1 of 4 needed. That's why people will say something to the effect of "HCA has shifted to OKCs favor".

Make sense?

Not really that simple. They played different schedules so you can't compare directly. The ONLY direct comparison is what we are witnessing right now. It's a 7 game series, the better team almost always wins in that scenario assuming there aren't major injuries.

Doesn't it change to H-H-A-A-A-H-H during the finals?

Yes

Sweet! The Spurs are better than the Thunder too! And since the Spurs took so many games off to rest players (causing losses) and so far have looked better versus the Thunder than the Warriors, I am going to declare this years Spurs as one of the all time great teams as well! Who needs to decide anything on the court when comparing two teams?

Nope. Spurs are inferior and got smacked hard by GSW.
