Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

Glad I didn't prematurely preorder this shit on PSN. Looks like Wax and I are stuck with GT6.

giphy.gif

waiting 2 years for GT7?

There must be something fundamentally wrong with the engine for them to have had to cut features like this. I bet it's some Frankenstein engine that has been assembled using parts from the ps2 and ps3 engines.

The whole situation is a mess.

It sounds like a design choice based on their lessons learnt from GT5/6 - apparently.

Is that GT6?

Man, I never brought GT6, tempted to drag my PS3 out of the loft and pick up a copy..........

Just get pCARS. :) Its a great sim and it has both dynamic TOD and dynamic weather. You can even select exact hour, day and year on which you want to race on available tracks, and game will contact internet weather servers and synchronise your in-game weather with the real weather on that track of that day.

Been a fan of the GT franchise all my life... but now I kinda want this to bomb.
Seriously, what were they thinking?

GT Sport: made for the 1% of players.
They are drunk if they think just by adding "FIA" this will be massive.

I'm glad I realized this years ago. If you want proper, full featured, sim racing you build a PC. iRacing/AC/pCARS/R3E/DiRT Rally and soon Forza is all anyone needs. Now you may say 4 of those 6 titles are/will be on consoles. However, those titles are far superior and more complete on the PC. Not to mention you can use any FFB wheel.

At this points you can't put all your sim racing chips on GT.

he knows! mascot, fresquito and him are basically the only people left on the pCARS thread.

Stop it!!!!
Post some "real or GT6" replay fotos from helicopter view or so and he's sold.
(no videos to let him see the framerate and hear the sound though!)

They will shut the servers down at the end of the year. Watch.

I have an unopened steelbook anniversary edition but my PS3 is in my storage room.

I don't want to play it because I know it will only lead to more disappointment if I end up enjoying it.

The shit sounds, the poor trackside details, how the cars appear in relation to the physics. Open your eyes man... Seriously.

I watched all the videos and it looks a lot better than the game you say you want though. The road physics look great but they need to work and change a lot of things but already said all those earlier in the thread. I don't feel proper crash details and things are coming unless they get added in updates

now, things were added before in gt coming up to release such as extra effects and such so maybe they will be adding in proper debris and tire marks before it's out.

other than that as long as they have night courses and time of day switching I don't need time change at all. I do want better interacgtion physics but I am all over this day one. it's ps4 gt man, can't miss that.

PD are a fucking super-talented studio, and they've recruited to strengthen their ranks. They've had almost three years to basically convert existing IP over to far more powerful hardware that is also much, much easier to develop on. We haven't seen the final game yet, but how can they appear to have made such little progress in areas that have desperately needed it for a decade? It's truly baffling.

That video is awesome.

So Kaz is going to the 24 hour race this weekend but his upcoming game won't have dynamic time/weather?

El oh el.

I'm starting to get that feeling that how's as good a time as any to start using my block list... There are opinions and then there is blind fanboyism.

Project CARS is sim racing's best-kept secret. It's not been an easy ride and a lot of players abandoned it far too soon (it is painful going back through patch notes and reminding oneself what state it launched in), but anyone coming to it fresh and getting the GOTY version now with up-to-date patches and all DLC is in for an absolute treat. It's still a long way from perfect but I tell you - I've been having an absolute blast with it for the past year and every race is a visceral thrill. No racing experience comes close on console.

Talking of ToD transtions... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tmb6DdXRdxo

I've found myself going back to it on the PS4, I think the hype surrounding GTS caused that and then the realisation that Project Cars is about as good as it's going to get for a while. Have to say that having tried to play with a pad was close to infuriating, but once I got the G29 wheel it became such a better game. There is slight tearing and frame issues when running 40 cars, but then again, what other game is trying to do that??

Q: B-Spec mode?

A: "In arcade mode when we select the demo option, that is very similar to B-Spec. It's possible to have that mode all the time, but we're not sure if we are going to include it now or later. Our intention is to have that mode for those players that don't have a lot of time to play the game."

As some of you may know, I happen to run a small racing community and all of our regulars (+30 people) have the same issue with ProjectCARS: total lack of reasonable default settings for vehicles.

And that is something that is simply not acceptable and it breaks the game in total. We simply refuse to play it because it makes no sense in online and competitive environment.

Yes, you can take one car, adjust the 20+ wheel settings first (individual to each car, mind you) and then adjust corresponding car settings (40+, also individual for each car) to make it drivable on controller/wheel of your preference. But it makes no goddamn sense. When we tried to play competitively, it resultet with absoulte hiatus. Not to mention that PCARS have the same problem as 90% of driving games outthere, and that is how driving on controller is signicantly faster than wheel because of inapropriate linearity-dispersion.

We got so tired of finding some "straight-out-of-subjectivity" setting lists for wheels for particular cars on the internet, then after spending whole day in setting the wheel-option for all cars, doing the same for car-settings. Only to find out how there is a VAST difference for settings between Logitech, Fanatec and Thrustmaster wheels (not even to speak about pedals/brake sensitivity settings because that is a hell of its own).

And after we spend whole week in adjusting shit, the weekend would came for racing and then again we would waste hours in exchanging small details. And we would all pray that there is no update, because every update would simply make all previous entries obsolete. And we had to set-up everything again.

We simply gave up. For good. It is pure frustration.

I had a chance to talk with one of the people that made pCARS and he told me they are aware how lack of global default settings is a major issue, but they are not taking it as a priroty by any chance. I was really paraplexed with such answer.

I was Senior Backer for the pCARS, to note that. And I really congratulate to SMS for the achievement as PCARS is in total. But the issue with global settings is deeply problematic part of PCARS and one that nobody doesn't talek about, which I simply can't understand.

tbh I never understood the draw of B spec mode
Why is getting the game to play itself for you cause for celebration?
I've never understood the appeal of B-Spec, tbh.

B-Spec of GT5 (not GT6) remains the pinnacle of the series and it is one of the strange places in the universe where Wax and I can agree on :)

Oh thank god B Spec is still there. Kaz is redeemed.

In my opinion it was only ever gone because without it they could sell you credits with microtransactions (I mean that early GT Vision resell-bug completely fucked the economy anyway, but a lot of GT6 buyers didn't get the game in the first 1-2 months or whenever it got patched out).

tbh I never understood the draw of B spec mode

It was nice in GT5 where you could set up remote races, and have your own team of drivers to develop.

Where it really shinned was in GT4 where you could switch between A and B spec at pit stops, speed up races and complete career mode using it.

B-Spec wasn't really that useful in GT6.

I haven't been following the GTS news that closely over the last few days, what's the source for those things in bold being removed?

Weather is confirmed to be a setting pre race and not dynamic.
ToD was said to be static from a translation of a Japanese interview. Not too sure on that yet.
Campaign includes 117 events however the events are driving school type events from what was shown. Maybe later events are races?

This surprises me. I use default setups on most cars and get on just fine with only adjusting tyre pressures for temperature reasons. OK, I won't be the fastest on the track but I'm still competitive and can drive the cars without any major issues.

3 fucking years for this shit..

Dear Kaz, less super star travels, racings, events... and more work.

To be fair they supported GT6 a lot with post-launch content, it looks like they couldn't transfer much content from PS3, and they are making it for VR.

No day/night is f'in strange because they've been talking about competitive 24hr races between countries online sponsored by FiA, yet without time lapses?

The biggest disappointment for me isn't lack of dynamic weather, day/night cycle and amount of cars, but it's the campaign mode. one of the best things about GT was its career for me, lots of events and racers with a great diversity from racing with low speed cars to fastest cars and rally and ...
But it seems that GTS doesn't have a true career mode. only some licenses and missions without any real races. as a singleplayer gamer, this is the worst news about GTS for me.

That video is awesome.

It is also from an old build, game got updated a lot after its release.

I sadly did not play any racing sim for almost a year now. T_T My PC GPU card started failing, and my G27 is not supported on PS4. :( Bad luck, but soon I will get Pascal/Polaris and I will be back on pCARS and will get AC.

Yaw are not going to get your toe in anything until you pitch your manifold knowledge of cars. Its going to be a drag and boost pressure on you having to kick down through the lesson events before they bring you to heel and toe the line properly.

apologies

Edit: spooky!

Returning modes are like gold dust, they have to be celebrated when confirmed.

Course Maker / Track Path editor must be hidden somewhere, has the companion app and its features been mentioned?

Well if that's confirmed then I'm out for good, because a good singleplayer mode is what I look forward to the most in a racing game. :/

Is it confirmed that weather and dynamic time of day are not in? Because then I am out.

A GTP member translated this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6t-BvQgGe0

Dynamic light system?

A: "This time we won't have dynamic transitions. The graphics quality and dynamic transitions aren't in "conflict" this time. We had dynamic transitions in GT5 and GT6 and that had good and bad points. The game will have several weather conditions and light conditions, but those will be announced at a later date. But during gameplay conditions will not change."

Weather Conditions?

A: "Of course we would like to have weather conditions, like rain for example. We already had those on GT5 and GT6. Now we want to expand those possibilities in the racing genre."

Well if that's confirmed then I'm out for good, because a good singleplayer mode is what I look forward to the most in a racing game. :/

Pretty much same here, at least as a day one purchase. Online is fun and all, but a solid campaign is much better for me as I have limited time to play nowadays and it's often at odd hours or in odd increments.

over 100 events and all are just getting a licenses? Doesn't make sense, I would just wait for more updates man
You're right, but those information about campaign mode...
They're only about things like: tutorials, training, mastering the track, learning the tricks and ...
If I remember correctly, there were 60 license tests in GT5. if we have 60 tests in GTS (in the name of campaign) and add 62 mission challenges to them, it will be 122 events. 5 events more than 117. so it's possible.
But I agree that we should wait for more information and I still hope for a true career mode. :(

Game is far from being completed and people already know what won't be in it. I guess there is someone who doesn't want legit criticism.

What people know? Game will be updated regulary and who know what will be in updates. So much about legit criticism. LOL!
