Digital Foundry:Does The Witcher 3: Blood And Wine Expansion Improve Its Graphics?

That's amazing.

The update doesn't affect graphics in base game or hearts of stone? But don't you travel seamlessly between all areas no?

It applies to the whole game, IIRC.

Holding out on this until I can snag a 1080. I want to see it in all it's glory since it's the last CDPR game I'll get until 2020ish.

Damn.......... I'm so excited because in the base game I'm about to go to Skellige and it's supposed to be beautiful. Can't wait to hop into this afterwards.

HoS was basically more of the same, an additional set of quests taking place in settings already there from the base game. I don't think it will be affected by this one in any way.

Eh I usually like Digital Foundry but this video is kind of a waste of time until the expansion launches - all they basically conclude is that the textures and foliage in Toussaint are better and that you'll have to wait for the DLC to come out before they do an in depth look.

Some new footage of Geralt roaming the city though - it looks cool.

I don't see why people go crazy over the look of this game. Yes, the fog is nice shade of blue and some of the character models are nice (i.e. the female models and hair). But the environments are very last gen looking, especially with the lighting and materials.

Trying my utmost best not to watch anything from this expansion. I only saw the initial short teaser and nothing more. Waiting to go in completely blind and be rewarded. I have NO idea how this new place looks like even.

What. I find the lighting to be particularily well done :lol

Weird video. It looks identical to the main game with some more flora variety and a more saturated colour scheme. That sky colour actually gives me a headache lol.

The one thing I would love to see is improved water effects. Definitely the weakest aspect of the world's visuals. But based on the video, doesn't seem like that's a feature we're going to get.

From a technical point of view, there are still problems loading textures. It's especially true when Geralt looks over the vineyards at the end of that video. This is something that I wish would disappear from modern games. Texture streaming / pop-in is very annoying, and I expect the console versions to suffer still.

I doubt that there is a game that is able to handle this flawlessly. Ultimately it is better for there to be pop in, than the game stopping to load in textures and objects.

i still can't believe all of this is just for 20$, i hope they release GOTY edition that includes all the dlcs, Game of the generation just got DLC of the generation

Fuck I cannot wait for this. That DF video looks incredible. Hearts of Stone was sensational and I have very high hopes. Between this, Total Warhammer, Stellaris, gah where am I gonna find the time.

Hope there is a small team at CDPR which improves the base game as well...maybe for a GotY or Enhanced version :)

Name any vanilla last gen game that looks like this, or even has comparable scale.
