Gran Turismo Sport Unveiling live stream discussion (incl. FIA Championship gameplay)

A lot of track hate could be down to the cars people are using on them. Positano in Forza is a great track for little Minis and Fiat 500s - narrow, walled, winding, cobbled, and littered with hairpins. Then Turn 10 forced us to race fucking LMPs on it in the career and my love instantly turned to hatred.

Every track has appropriate cars if you look hard enough.

Like SMS and that batshit crazy idea of putting a Monaco race in the pCARS' LMP1 championship.

Could you imagine Kaz reads the last page of this thread and cuts Nurburgring as well.

"We have listened to feedback and..."

It would cause quite the shitstorm.

If that happen, when I go to Japan next May, I'd find him and kiss him square on his kisser.

Why fucking start now?

Developer: "Kaz, we have been looking at feedback following our new trailer released and it's not good. This picture is doing the rounds and it's inflicting massive damage on our brand"

k9Qb.jpg

Kaz: "Hmm... That does seem to be the case. It could be difficult... We have just 6 months left and my calendar is full as I'm touring the world with the FIA and generally just fucking about. I was reading feedback on Neogaf today during my morning shit and the majority don't seem to like Nurburgring anyway. All things considered, let's just cut the track. This could be a big win for us with the community as it shows that we are listening to feedback. Just like how when people complained endurance races were too long and difficult, we cut those for GT6. We also cut the dynamic weather and TOD due to the flickering shadows, random graphical glitches and the bad framerate it used to make people complain about. Send this information to translator San so that he can inform the community, I'm sure they will be just as pleased as they were when the heard we cut the standard cars."

Developer: "But Kaz..."

Kaz: "Just do it will you, and tell Mike, the American we hired from turn 10, he is no longer needed as well. We are cutting the audio, I'm sick of the complaining. Tell Piers Baron I want him to do the soundtrack for the game, we will have music only and bring a new level of calmness to the racetrack. Anyway, got to go, I've got a plane to catch to get to the 24 hours of Nurburgring race! See you all next month and keep me up to date on the development progress."

Wait, hold up. GT support doesn't count because if was just finishing the game, but how long did we have to wait for online content to work in DC? How many patches was it?

And they didn't listen to the community. They ignored requests for narrow tracks and shoved even wider tracks in our faces. They left the warp drive rain effect in along with the snow. And almost all of the DLC was paid.

It's crazy to deny the support PD gives to their games. GT5P was given more free content than many full price titles, GT5 also had huge updates and GT6 even got a track editor and a brand new game mode years after release. All free in addition to paid dlc.

Well.... so you praise PD's support of GT6...and shit on Evo's support on DC... Well... I am speechless.

Sure the launch of DC was a disaster... but they admitted it, reacted so well, comunicated, fixed all the shit and overdelivered big time! Evo did in 3 years more than PD in 10. And the DC DLC puts PD's to shame...

but hey...we each have our own book.

Narrower trackers? No one was requesting that. Everyone was pissed about the tracks being narrow and MP being a crash fest.

Yep I wanted more race track circuits that could allow passing and 4 abreast racing. I think some people were upset when Scotland seemed wide, but again when it comes to racing, you don't want choke points all over the course.

You guys are out of your minds. The Nordschleife is the greatest track in the world.
Sucks for short races, but it's the best for hot-lapping and endurance.

I'm not a fan of driving Bathurst, but seeing people who're good at it battle it out there is fantastic (where else do 1st, 2nd and 3rd trade places as often per lap as on Bathurst even though you're in constant danger of hitting a wall?!), so... Leave that track alone too.

If you want to drop a track, drop Le Mans. It's boring to watch, it's boring to drive and it takes away more dev time to get it right than giant tracks like VIR or the Nordschleife, which are mostly in the middle of the woods/green.

How did I shit on their support? Please. You people have terrible memories. It took the better part of a year to get the game running right (remember it was meant to launch with the free version, online play and weather), the promised free version was a year late and almost all DLC was paid. How is that great and what PD do shit? You could play GT6 fine at launch, they consistently delivered new cars for free, and eventually added new game modes and tracks also free. How is that not better than what EVO did?

Freaking bias is unbelievable, but when you have people in a racing game thread saying they want to be rid of the ring and bathurst well... It makes it obvious what their opinions are worth.

Why do I even bother...

Enjoy GTS my friend. Sure there will be plenty of fun to be had anyway.

For the daily online races, there’s going to be a system that’s judging the players. A system can’t always make the judgments that a human being can. So say you had a crash at one corner – who was at fault? If it was a human being, you could make the judgement. When it’s a computer system, no matter how much physics data you have, it’s hard to judge. In that case, you really have to make it so both are at fault for the incident. What that entails is a player’s sportsmanship rating will drop. Both sides will try to avoid incidents like that.

Sounds like a right nightmare.......

Ahhhh, so because my opinions don't align with yours they're worthless?, nice one ;)

Narrow tracks just aren't very good for racing, I'd go as far as too say, I wish devs would drop the Nordschleife from their games and spend the time on tracks that are conducive to good racing.

It'll never happen, because having the Nordschleife is a good thing for PR, but I can count on two fingers the amount of times I've gone out of my way to race on the track in a racing game.

I feel like I'm the only monster who enjoyed the original Dirt's 100-person ghost races (meaning 100 people racing live at the same time, but without seeing each other on the track, just time rankings) specifically because it made narrow course racing work competitively. I know the race style is different for rally vs road, but in terms of clogged roadways, I think it's a graceful solution for more technical racing.

Call me crazy, but there are much better tracks in the world.

Can we also kill Bathurst while we're at it?

You are crazy. There are many passing opportunities at the Ring. And if you feel like there aren't, maybe you shouldn't play against randomns or get better at driving.

Just don't find it much fun, I know I am a lone voice in a crowd though.

And yeah, I know I need to get better at driving, but in my time of life I am about as good as I am going to get!

Now if we're talking Indianapolis, that I can get behind. What a blah track forward or reverse.

Amen to that. Historic and romantic, but pointless and insipid. It's probably my most hated track in sim racing and that includes that farmer's field with a Tarmac spillage, Ruapuna.

I love the backers personal story and push for that DLC, but I agree, I never race it.

Right on.
Incidentally, Indy is almost universally hated by the MotoGP riders as well. Stoner came out with a huge rant on the lousy, outdated facilities there as well.

In your opinion. In mine, Nurnurgring is boring and pointless. And Le Mans is a sacred place.

So the only opinion that matters is the one like yours? Sigh.

Nurburgring and Bathurst hate, what am I reading.

2iRb.gif

What!? There are people who want those tracks gone? That's blasphemy. Nurburgring and Bathurst are two of my favorite tracks. Bathurst was only introduced in GT6 and would like to see it come back. A sim racer without Nurburgring is just wrong.

You do realise that it is possible to disagree with someone's opinions without resorting to snide comments and cheap shots?

I don't for one second think that PD or anyone else would remove either, but that still doesn't change my opinion that neither are that much fun to drive, I'm happy you enjoy them, I don't.

Psuedo Gran Turismo related PSVR glimpse into the future of what it will probably be like in VR.

http://uploadvr.com/heres-one-first-companies-use-playstation-vr-outside-gaming/

As you might have guessed, this experience will be based around one of the company’s latest creations, the 2017 Nissan GT-R. In a 360 degree video, viewers will sit in the passenger seat of the vehicle as they’re raced through the streets of Milan. They’ll take a trip around the Autodromo Nazionale Monza racetrack before arriving at the stadium itself. Not only that but another experience will allow fans to walk out onto the pitch of Manchester City’s Etihad stadium ahead of the match. Seven PSVR units will be on offer during the event.

Wait, time of day is different in this shot compared to all the footage we have seen of the ring??

They're gonna do it like R3E, it has "sunrise", "morning", "noon", "afternoon", "sunset" ...GT might add "night" and some different cloud covers. At least that's what i hope.

All these touring cars. Do people really care about those more than normal production cars?

Sure there are the "usual" M4, AMG Benz and your hot hatchback etc, but still. GT used to be about obscure cars and whatnot. Now all the shots are from touring cars.

Meh

It's GT Sport, I am not suprised that the focus would be more on racing models rather than road models, it's a motorsport focused spinoff.

137 is the car count.

117 is the events count, and that includes tutorials (maybe license tests), time trials, racing ettiquette (which is at least 10 "events"), events designed with getting your to learn the track, once off challenges (which may or may not be against AI, and may or may not be full races, can just be mastering a certain section of the track etc).

The bulk of these aren't going to be traditional races/cups/tournaments that we are used to from the past GT games.

Okay, I don't know how I missed this but now I'm not sure if I'm in or not.

So, the actual races are just online matches? I love GT, but I never thought they'd cut that much content for the PS4 version. How's Project Cars? I liked Forza on 360, but I'd rather not buy another console just for racing.

For someone who loves chipping away at all those cups and championships but doesn't really care about competing online there may not be much here. Disappointing if true.

No, you're probably right, but it is what they are making.

During the reveal my impression was that GT Short was meant as a Prologue with more purpose - they'd be working on regular production cars and the classic features in the meantime leading up to an eventual release of mainline GT7 sometime after. Clearly I was too optimistic.

lol...

So i guess we shouldnt expect a decent single player mode with this game?

Pretty sure, you are spot on.
Why the complex photo mode with 1000 "scapes" if you have so many race cars that don't really fit in those environments. They're gonna sell us a ton of DLC cars and make double the amount without releasing them simultaneously for GT7 in 2 years.

Do yourselves a favour and savour the career. Don't just blitz through it. as fast as you can to get some meaningless digital achievement or trophy. Set the AI to challenge you - you shouldn't be even placing in the top three in every race, let alone winning them. Run full practice and qualifying sessions, and full-length races. Run full damage. Full damage. Never quit or restart, even if you jump the start and get an immediate drive-through penalty or if your car is wrecked at turn one, or if you blow your engine two laps from home. Dust yourself down, learn from it and pledge to do better next time. Don't sweat finishing last, but take great pride in finishing better than your last race. Be proud the first time you finish in the points. Enjoy the thrill of fighting in a pack for nothing but pride. Race clean. Respect your opponents. Enjoy watching the leaderboard evolve through the season and take note of the drivers above you.

It's incredibly rewarding.

And if you really want the most from it and your schedule allows, do practice, qualifying and racing as a real-time race weekend, on the actual days of the week that they happen in-game, and feel real tension and anticipation build throughout your week as track day approaches. It's amazing.
This is pCARS, yes? I should never have refunded it before it went live, such a stupid mistake :/

lol...

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I play racing games almost exclusively for single player. If it's down to a minimum in this, then I'm completely out. Even if it's done in an SFV-style post-launch patch, I doubt it would be enough to pull me in.

You are not.
