So:
2016S4K
2017:
corpio
2018: New PS
Consoles are going to become expensive.
So:
2016S4K
2017: Scorpio
2018: New PS ??
Being a console fan is going to become expensive.

No way 2020 earliest for ps5
Basically this
2016: PS4K "Skip"
2017: Scorpio "Buy"
2018: New PS "Maybe Buy"
If the specs for Scorpio end up true Ill be switching back to Xbox as my main console.
Rumors of Oclulus support will seal the deal.
I think it depends how well the Scorpio does. Do you think Xbox will make one 2020 as well?
25+ years of disc formats are enough. Bring something new or embrace the digital future.
With all those various boxes they're planning to release, I'm shocked that there's no super-slim mini discless XboxOne in the making. Next gen, m8, next gen...wait, that doesn't work
;P
I'm in total agreement with you. I do think that the Xbox after Scorpio won't have any disc slot at all. I think it will be all digital and have something that someone could buy to play discs. 2019,2020 and people still using discs? Cmon.
Most placesInternet still sucks in a lot of places
B-b-but surely you can move or change providers. You must be living in a 3rd world country. Embrace the all digital future...People asking for disc free futures? My dumb AT&T internet has a 300 GB cap per month, I'd be paying so many darn extra fees cuz of that.
Each game will be around 40 gigs a pop unless it's a indie game.
Also I resell games to make money to spend on other games.
Not to mention my internet is only 6 megs fast.
That's assuming I have any desire to play on PC. I know this is information that surprises some people, but I for one just genuinely prefer consoles while also being capable of acknowledging the superiority that playing on PC gives you.
And if Scalebound does drop day and date on W10 with crossplay, that would be even better. I care far more about having a large community to keep a game alive than I do about exclusivity, and I would imagine quite a few people interested in the scorpio feel the same.
It's not like Sony should go full panic mode because of some DF threads on neogaf.
I can't believe Sony would bring out another PS only 2 years after the Neo. Even another upgraded console.
If im not misremembering VR needs like 90 fps to be any good.
people need to stop spreading this FUDThat's why ps4k is happening.
I agree. IMO 60fps is a design decision not at technical one. all I ask for is a stable frame rate whatever it isAll that power, if accurate, doesn't suddenly mean everything 60fps, and it shouldn't ever have to be that way. If a dev wants to go for broke and make their game even prettier, then I say they have every right to target 30fps while pushing graphics as far as they can take them.
That's why ps4k is happening.
I think that of course they won't show the new console at this E3, but they will announce it coming next year and will just say something like: "Our strategy is to give player choice, for those who don't want to spend too much, here's the xbox one slim at 249/299$, for those who want better performance and graphics, next year we will be launching a new hardware piece"

Attempting to somehow to draw a correlation between Sony participating in a console power struggle and the PSN network hack? It seems like Microsoft has some very loyal fans as well.I can't see Sony doing that either. Quite frankly they don't have to usurp Microsoft in the power game, because they have a very loyal fan base. The Playstation division is becoming Sony's main cash cow. They would be better off trying to maximize profits with inferior hardware because their worldwide fans will be there for their exclusives regardless.
Quite frankly I don't think Sony really even wants to play the power game in the long run because if being the most powerful system becomes the narrative for the market leader. Then it becomes who has the deepest pockets fund cutting edge hardware every 2-3yrs.
Could end ugly...

And console devs will do exactly this as history has taught us time after time again. These guys can literally have a 20TF+ system to work with and you'd still get some native resolution at 30fps due to this graphical/IQ push. All that power, if accurate, doesn't suddenly mean everything 60fps, and it shouldn't ever have to be that way. If a dev wants to go for broke and make their game even prettier, then I say they have every right to target 30fps while pushing graphics as far as they can take them.
Lmao, borderline delusional I'd say.Attempting to somehow to draw a correlation between Sony participating in a console power struggle and the PSN network hack? It seems like Microsoft has some very loyal fans as well.
is mirrors edge 60 on consoles?
Microsoft is like that kid and huffs his check and sucks in his stomach to act tougher.
whoa didn't know this. suddenly more interested in this gameYep, on both consoles (the beta had some hiccups tho).
What if Microsoft ends up letting you turn your PC into an Xbox and somehow you can play all Xbox games on it? That would essentially deem the whom power battle irrelevant for many.
Really interested to see what we learn on the 13th.
As someone who doesn't have a gaming PC, I would love to be able to do the opposite. Turn my Xbox One into a PC that can run Steam games.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.Lmao, borderline delusional I'd say.

yea totally good idea to release another new console 2 years after the other what could go wrong

at what sacrifice though? there's always a trade off. i'm willing to take a really pretty game (single player experience) at 30fps vs less at 60fps.
now for multiplayer i always want the highest frames possible.
If the industrie wants to push VR, then
Games being 60 fps definitely help with VR.
The people that constantly say there is no reason to get an xbox if the game you want is on PC remind me of the people who can't believe some people will always prefer Pepsi.
These rumours are nothing like slim versions of consoles. Those have the same specs and play the same games the same way. They're just smaller/cheaper.When was the last generation where we didn't see new hardware SKUs mid generation though?
As long as the games released can be played on both I don't think it's going to be a huge deal. People who buy the console for their young kids just won't upgrade. Enthusiasts that care about VR and graphics will.
This was already debunked.
I'm honestly still not sold on VR for gaming yet. I admit I haven't exactly been looking very hard, but I don't feel I've seen a convincing enough VR gaming experience that tells me that I'm getting something worthwhile or somehow superior to what we have at the current moment.
I wonder how many cycles it's going to take when we only have discless versions of these consoles.
discs won't change because there will be forward compatibility. they need to work on old systems
MS has basically announced all their first party games will get PC versions day one so you can feed Scalebound as many teraflops as you can afford irrespective of the Scorpio's existence.
If im not misremembering VR needs like 90 fps to be any good.
Most likely 3 years after neo, just as neo is 3 years after ps4. So 2019. Whether it's more or less than that, will only depend on the success of Neo and/or Scorpio relative to it.I can't believe Sony would bring out another PS only 2 years after the Neo. Even another upgraded console.
So far it's just Kotaku and Polygon reporting this, right? Or did other sources back up these leaks too?
