I thought the parallel with Mags and his initial time in Auschwitz and his daughter in the forest was pretty damn good. Then they hammered in that point so much it became a bit lame. Her powers were really cool.
Angel dying was really lame. I liked the little bit we saw of him. The old 4 Horsemen were cool as hell.
Really hope McAvoy and Fassbender come back. I could go either way with JLaw. Her acting wasn't all that great, but I think a lot of that was because the writers/director chose to focus so much on her. In a lesser role I think she would have been fine.
Speaking of Quicksilver, I liked his scene, but didn't like the scoring. I imagine they wanted to do a synth song because 80's, but it really didn't fit thematically. Unfortuantely, I can't seem to think of a synth song that would fit so...yeah. Non synth though? We Care a Lot.
How did it not fit thematically?
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
Travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody looking for something
Some of them want to use you
Some of them want to get used by you
Some of them want to abuse you
Some of them want to be abused.
I'm not sure how a song could better reflect what Quicksilver and the X-Men are going through.
Quicksilver is literally looking for his family, his father, and what to do with his life the entire film. He gets captured by Stryker to be used in experiments and to figure out what happened to Xavier and the nukes. He and the others are almost certainly abused or are going to be abused by Stryker and humanity as a whole.
I thought the song coordinates well with his actions.
Just saw it. DOFP was better. Uh why didn't quicksilver tell magneto he was his son? The world's at stake and that could have stopped him. Because reasons? Thought that was dumb.
He's already stated how he always fails. He's clearly nervous and visibly wants to tell Magneto he is his son. But he is scared of what will happen. Should he have said something? Yeah. But I can't blame him or fault him for not saying anything. Going either way made sense to me.
How come my theater was only half filled yesterday despite being opening night in the US? ( It's really unusual for a movie like this at the theater I go to. )
Why is this thread moving so slowly?
Does anyone care about these movies anymore?
Went to a noon showing today and there were maybe 10 people there. Usually floats between 20-30 for these types of blockbusters. Not sure what that means for the franchise.
Our time would be better spent figuring out why all these people can't understand that Days of Future Past reset the timeline.
Agreed. There is no possible way they line up.
In the new timeline, Nightcrawler has the markings on his skin at a young age. He meets Jean and Storm at the age of 16 or whatever they are supposed to be. Jean and Wolverine meet each other in 1983. Mystique is a staple of the X-Men and while she has a friendly relationship with Erik, it is more brother/sister. Angel is in his late teens to early 20s in 1983. And seemingly dies. Stryker seemingly hates mutants from Day One and wants Professor X found and/or dead. Jean uses her Phoenix powers in 1983. Xavier encourages her to learn about her powers and learn to control them.
In the old timeline Jean and Wolverine don't meet each other until ~2000. Nightcrawler meets Jean and Storm in X2 in ~2003. He only has the markings on his skin because he disfigures himself as punishment for the sins he has committed before and during his work for Stryker. Mystique is hardly anything more than Magneto's lackey. Angel is in X3 as an 18 year old. Stryker sends his son to Xavier's school initially, before pulling him out. Jean uses her Phoenix powers for the first time in ~2003, then fully embraces them later on. Xavier controlled her powers and blocked them from her for a long time.
They aren't going to connect. DOFP reset things. Allows for differences in birth dates and how old people are.
