Are people worried that its going to affect the "purity" of Street Fighter? Because I've got bad news for you on that front, as mentioned previously one of her win quotes references Naruto, shocking that the SF team may be familiar with popular culture I know. I'm no particular fan of Naruto, but seeing people freak out at others outlining the obvious connections to the trailer is odd.

Especially given the fact that SF itself (and nearly all fighting games from the 90s) was very much influenced by shonen manga from the 80s and early 90s like Dragon Ball, Hokuto no Ken and others.

Why does this response keep popping up? It's a clear straw man. No-one has advanced the argument that Ibuki was created based on Naruto or that Naruto invented ninja's, but the animation and audio of the trailer are too close for it to be coincidence. Pretending *the trailer* isnt partially inspired by or a (less than) subtle reference to Naruto seems wilfully ignorant. Are people worried that its going to affect the "purity" of Street Fighter? Like I said, she'll be in the same boat as Cammy, as far as taking damage, but perhaps better off overall because she has an overhead and a projectile, as well as a... WAIT, HOLD THE PHONE!!!

In her super she does it with her elbow and in normal verse its a grab fist palm thing. Also that animation never seemed to be the intent of, its more like i misses. Feel free to call me out on this one, but iirc in4 when she misses that move she strait up says "whoops". Her doing it rasengan style never like, the movir. Even you say it turns red,this stays blue the entire time and was full well the intent of her attack.

My guess is these people don't realize Ibuki existed before Naruto so they're assuming Capcom is "modernizing" her by adding references to Naruto, which isn't true as far as I can see. The only really new thing from her, aside from the bombs, is the hand signs which is straight up par-for-the-course ninja shit.

Ibuki (and the rest of the cast) could throw bombs in Gem Fighter so I'm guessing they just made that silly game's moveset more canonical.

I replied with the sf4 info to inforn you that the intention of how she did the move in sf4 and sf3 was different than her intention and technique in sf5. And not only giving you an example her missing the move and doing the red version is "whoops", but telling that naruto was refenced in that game by her.

Creating the argument,the argument being maybebthe move was changed a bit to refence naruto, considering they did it before.

By providing information in change in technique and intention. Even going so far in the last game, giving her the audio indication of "whoops".

Im not saying shes a naruto character, she isnt. To say that's she is all naruto is ill informed. But the one move being changed to be and look more like a rasengan, after they refernced naruto previously isnt crazy.

Naruto doesn't use hand signs to do Rasengan.

-Ibuki and Naruto both release the same year. There can't be a connection between them in terms of references, just shared inspiration.

Naruto one shot came out in August 1997, first chapter came out in 1999 (I don't even remember if they did any hand signs in the one shot).

SF3 was released Feb 1997, Ibuki and Co were unveiled in 1996.

Unfortunately it seems many people in here only got introduced to Ibuki in SF4

Plus the music here sounds like it's from the Naruto OST or something. I really like Naruto music (more than the show itself at times), so this isn't a bad thing.

Looking through this thread, I hope her Story costume isn't actually her traditional outfit, and is instead something that takes inspiration from alternate casual wear, or another twist on the ninja look. I like her original duds, sure, but this school girl look is so underwhelming for her, I hope to see something more refreshing and unique.

She just feels less like "That character from SFIII" lately, and more like "That character made to directly appeal to modern ninja and pop culture". I keep feeling as if she lacks in personal, pure unique traits, and this new outfit only detracts from her personality even more.

Only people denying it keep bringing this Naruto didn't invent Ninjas shit up. Nobody said Naruto invented anything. Nobody saying these are references to Naruto is saying Naruto invented Ninjas. Mike Tyson didn't invent boxers, but everyone knows Balrog is a parody of him. Goku didn't invent yellow hair, but if someone's hair turns yellow, everybody knows who that is referencing.

Ibuki's new themesong is practically a parody of The Rising Fighting Spirit. It was obviously made to sound like that to make people think of Naruto when they saw all the other Ninja stuff that Naruto did not invent.

Ibuki has always been a very mobile character with various target combos, but she now has even more ways to mix-up the opponent with the ability to glide through the air and toss out ninja bombs, making it very difficult to predict where she will land and where her next attack will come from.

Kunais have also been a cornerstone of her playstyle, but now players will have to be much more strategic in their use as she can only stock five at a time before she has to quickly obtain another set. That said, their utility is just as powerful as ever as she can send her entire stock flying at the opponent for serious damage.

V-SKILL: Tenrai

Ibuki builds up energy and blasts it from her palm towards the opponent. The blast range is dependent on how long Tenrai is charged for.

V-TRIGGER: Isshaku Horokudama

Ibuki digs into her bag of ninja tools and throws a bomb at the opponent. Depending on which direction is held upon activation, the bomb can either go off quickly, after a slight delay or after a longer delay. Ibuki is extremely crafty and impatient, however, so there might be other ways to trigger the explosion.
