The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

Anyone on pc noticing framedrops or worse performance? Once I got to the cottage and talked to the toussaint knights, frame rate dropped to around 15-20, and once they set out for toussaint, game crashed.

For reference, I used to get 50-60 fps depending on the area
Gtx 970
8gb ram

Only tested it till the first big encounter as I have to leave for work soon. Everything is set to ultra but hairworks (off) and shadows (one setting below ultra). Game runs at steady 1080/60 on my 980.

Question for those further away. Previews of the game mentioned that friends would
come visit your Vineyard
. It specified as an example
yen and Triss
. Have you encountered this?

Curious if it's tied behind main dlc campaign progression

I actually haven't yet but it's really hard to tell how far in the main quest I am. I've probably played like 25 hours but I'd say only around 5 of that has been the main quest.

How exactly do you calm the Panther in Big Game Hunting?

Same way a Witcher calms any animal :)

Went from level 11 to level 17 today. All I have left before I get to
Kaer Morhen
is
rescuing Dandelion
and a couple other things I think. I'm assuming I should play HoS after I finish the main quest and before I start in on Blood & Wine so that B&W has maximum effect, since it's meant to be the big finale?

couple thoughts first hour or so
-The new area really is beautiful.
-The new grass looks great on PS4!
-That new music... whew. amazing.
-The new UI is great but it's going to take me a while to get used to some of the changes. Changing tabs and different types of items takes even longer than it used to (mostly to load) ugh..

So if you start with the premade geralt how do the mastercrafted witcher sets work? Do you have to craft them from the start or do you have the superior version?

It's set to auto download as the patch did, but for the expansion I actually had to go to extra downloads and check Blood & Wine expansion.

Man, if I go home and find this is the case...

Left my PC running at home, and I can't see a way to do any checks from GOG website either. It better have started the download.

So weird that since the 1.07 patch they screwed up the "default inputModuleNeededToRun" line in the player.ws file from -10 to -1 and haven't fixed it. Why remove the option for a slower walk?

Is it possible to just edit the value in the file back to -10? I liked the slower walk option.

Can't you still toggle it with a shortcut? I have it set to CTRL. I pretty much always walk around and just sprint if necessary.

My Sign Intensity reduced by 10% after this new patch. Anyone else get that? I've had one other user mention it, so I am guessing it wasn't just my save file with some bugged stats?

So excited to play this but I still haven't the base game, let alone Hearts of Stone. Currently sitting at around 80 hours played and still looking for Ciri... Just can't get enough of exploring!

Will probably wait until the final patch for this game is out, likely after the "Enhanced" edition is released, before diving into Blood and Wine. Mods are set up just how I want them, and patches usually break everything.

I think it's important for analogue movement to have more speed variation though. Probably works fine like that on a keyboard/mouse control scheme, but with a stick you want to feel that the more you tilt it the faster the character moves, rather than just two different movement speeds, and a third if you press the sprint button at the same time.

oh man, going back to witcher 3 after dark souls 3 really is something. has it always been like this where you cant lock-on to bosses? feels so weird!

You can lock on to bosses. There's just no visual indicator for some reason. You'll know you're locked on when you can't move the camera around manually.

So I've hopped back into the Wild Hunt after finishing Uncharted 4 today. I'd forgotten just how beautiful this game looks in 4K. Just stunning.

I haven't truly played in almost a year, and it's great coming back to it.

I left at level 17, (playtime says 168 hours but I have a hard time believing that, though I did spend a good amount of time playing) having just done some quests in Novigrad. It now is telling me to go to Skelliege but I think I'll search out a few more quests and gather some things here before I go.

I'm wearing Nilfgairdian Chest and Trousers with Alder Folk Boots and Assault Gauntlets. I hear about all these amazing suits of armor, in particular the Witcher armor.

How does one go about getting them? Also, been playing for a bit, about to hit level 19, how long should I stick around Velen before I leave for Skelliege? I feel like there are a billion POI's left on my map.

Thanks in advance!

Oh sorry, didn't catch you were using a controller. Then yeah, that's something to fix any way you can :D

Just pumped 5-6 into this and I know I've barely scratched the surface. I've only done the introductory main missions, upgraded the vineyard and the Paperchase quest, this is going to be good.

I forget how I started them, but each Witcher set has a treasure hunt quest associated with it, so you explore the maps collecting new diagrams for crafting them. I'm sure I had at least the Griffin hunt quests by level 20. Maybe check the "treasure hunt" section of your quest log to be sure?

Skellige should be fine around level 20, so long as you feel the main story is leading you there. There's absolutely no harm seeing the story all the way through as far as you can while in Velen. You won't lock yourself out of anything. You can also head there even sooner than that if you want to. It's a nice change of scenery, and my favourite areas of the game are in Skellige =)

You need to buy maps from merchants to start quests with witcher armor.

You can turn it off from the display settings.

Yeah, looks different and can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe that's it.

Also I can't find the stats page anymore.
There was always motion blur in the distance for camera panning before like in Red Dead Redemption, but this is the first time I've ever noticed in The Witcher motion blurring for objects and for the ground as Geralt walks. Looks to me like they're also using a new method for lighting.

Thanks!

Any idea what merchants?

Also MadYarpen, love your Avatar, that's my brother in that pic on the far left. Have a bunch of memorabilia/adverts etc with it at my house.

Thanks. Band of brothers have special place in my heart when it comes to movies. And the photo is nice.

And try blacksmiths, maps are easy to come by.

Why am I still not able to use my download code on the PS4? It's almost 9 in the morning and it still doesn't work. Someone else here was able to download it fine last night. Anyone else with this problem (in Holland)?

The Photo's Psuedo Name is "Bandit Brothers". The photo is of some soldiers from Bravo Battery 3/320th FA Red Night Rakkasans of the 101st I you have any interest in it. It's been used in everything from Glock ads, to US Army Recruitment, to video game covers, and all sorts of Internet photos. Pretty neat.

On topic, I'll look into finding some maps, looks like I already have a map for Cat armor and upgraded cat school... Can I go straight to the upgrades, or do they need to be done in order?

When I started the game, a tax collector approached me before I've reached the billboard, I thought the game glitched and he was going to take my money away (I don't remember using a trainer or abused money glitches). I answered his questions truthfully, he then gave my an honorary tax payer certificate, and told me to frame it, what a relief!
