I just took a trip to Northern California this month and brought my N3DS but forgot to turn it on.

Does anyone know how many puzzle pieces there are?
I've got around 1200 of 1570.
Or are there more puzzles I don't have unlocked yet?

On NA systems, there's 52 puzzles and 1652 pieces currently (including the recent Kirby Robobot puzzle).
I have 1652 for the NA region.

It finally happened.
The bottom right piece will not be the last I collect for the Kirby Robobot puzzle on the NA 3DS, because it was the starter piece rewarded.
(It was totally still the last piece when I spammed play coins to finish the puzzle on the JP 3DS last week.)

I got my New 3DS two Fridays ago (06/05), and I have to say I'm pretty surprised with the Streetpass population.
When I got the original 3DS back in 2012, I did not have more than 3-4 passes in 2 years. With the new one, I'm getting 1-3 streetpasses every day, provided I take the metro or walk around the city centre. And three whenever I visit the relay at GAME.
It's nice how I could finally find 4 pink puzzle pieces in just two days. Lately I'm street passing people with massive stashes of puzzle pieces. In fact, I'm considering upgrading to the Premium Streetpass plaza if things keep going like this.

I got a n3ds xl about 2-3 weeks ago, in the meantime i have taken it multiple times with me to the capital city, various shopping malls, as well as bringing it to work where i get many international tourists. Dissapointingly it seems that this works only for Japanese school children as i have not got a single streetpass in this period, the fact that i live in eastern Europe probably also plays some part. But i have given up on the streetpass stuff all together unless i travel to lets say Germany, Italy e.t.c.
No such thing really, anything that might resemble a con might be once per year ? But it would be mostly IT related not strictly gaming, and the only gaming events i would know about would be PC only, and very few of them anyway. Oh well

Do the relay points have a fixed amount of miis to store? It's always three, no matter what.

I set up a fake home relay at home and I got some for kirby deluxe and a lot of mii universe (or whatever is called) lol, but none for bravely default or fire emblem fates =(.

It was up to six in Germany, might depend on configuration.

I did, once. On the mornings on the way to work I'd StreetPass someone at the train station, and wonder who it was.
And then I eventually stumbled across him one morning - the mystery StreetPasser was always playing his 3DS while standing waiting for the train. Luckily the train began at the same time every morning, so I'd have a chat with him for about 20 minutes each morning on the way in, it was great.
Also helped that he had his twitter handle set to either his Mii name or Personal message. Managed to connect with him that way as well.

I'm lucky as I still get some every time I go into town.
Haven't taken it out for a long while but have started again recently for Yokai and Fates.
Hopefully I'll finally get the last few mystery fish this time around too, ugh

I only have a few mystery fish to get... and all of them during con weekend were only near-misses. I have yet to have them pop up since 
Need to go to more cons...
I did hit a few milestones though: over 5,000 street passes, and also another month done for birthdays! Only a few scattered through the year left! Also got a bunch of Battleground Z coins that I didn't think I would achieve for a while. Some will still take some work... Also, only 3 puzzle chests left in Monster Manor
So close with them, but will still take a bit of time...
Too bad that unless I go to cons, I won't be getting nearly as many street passes anymore :/

Looks like another National StreetPass Weekend started (well, it's a full week this time). There's a notice on the NA eShop:
"Nintendo is heading to E3 2016 to give fans a first look at the upcoming The Legend of Zelda game for the Wii U console. Bring your Nintendo 3DS system to a Nintendo Zone location from June 10-19 to collect up to six StreetPass tags from around North America!"
If previous StreetPass Weekends and E3 periods are something to consider, probably we'll receive special Miis too.

That explains why I got several states out of nowhere today. Must've been near a Starbucks, because I sure didn't think dropping someone off at the airport could get so many! Then again I am flying out this week so the street pass week should definitely help on my trip

It doesnt work for Latin America, we havent received ANY spotpass mii in YEARS

Why is the relay at my local Home Depot not working on a Streetpass weekend?
Just walked to the Best Buy next door and not having much luck here either. Losing My Religion is playing on the sound system here so I guess it's not a total loss.

While it's true about us, Latin Americans, aren't receiving any Spotpass Mii since years ago by "normal" ways... there's an easy bypass.
Just change temporarily your system region to US or Canada, set your system language to English, accept the internet terms of service, then open Streetpass Mii Plaza and wait a little with the Plaza open. It must arrive soon after.
This way, I received this E3 Reggie Mii minutes ago, even with a Brazilian NNID registered on my system.

Having a pretty rough time. I'm at the second of three McDonalds I can pass on the way back home and this is the first relay that has been working.
Only one Angler in the set and he had no rare sightings for me. Still working on A+ all. Would probably have an easier time if I were at AnimeNEXT this year, but I couldn't make it out.

I haven't even seen one yet. I only have a few mystery fish left, but they were SUPER hard to reel in! I got only seconds away with them and haven't seen them since... Hopefully I'll run into more people that have them spotted, and for sure I'll get them next time.
Somehow it spawned a 2nd time for me today. Hadnt even seen it in months before that. Finally caught that fucker and have all 160 fish now. Im sooooo relieved. :lol

FINALLY GOT THE UFO ROD!
Happy days... or at least it would be if the game wasn't now asking for me to catch an A+ version of every fish :'(

Just tallied mine. 104/160 A+ ranks here. Starting to slow down a bit because the fish I have yet to catch A+ versions of often don't have unique preferred baits now.
I wouldn't even dream of attempting this without 6+/8+/11 Anglers Big Catch Boost Lv.3 though. That boost is essential.

This doesn't seem right, I thought you lost access to your NNID for good on that console once you changed regions? Even if you went back to the proper region afterwards.
Really sick of Nintendo Europe and the special Miis, I've had my 3DS since launch (2011) and still haven't got the meet 10 special Miis Accomplishment. :| Pathetic.
Not really. When you have a NNID registered on a console, and you try to change the current country, it displays this message:
However, this doesn't mean it will remove or delete your current NNID forever, since you aren't formatting your console with this method. Your NNID will still on your console. So, what this means, exactly?
Every time you use a NNID service (eShop, Miiverse, etc), Nintendo servers checks certain things - some of them: your NNID and the country associated to it, with the current configuration on your system.
If the NNID is the same on your system and the Nintendo servers, but the country doesn't match, then you can't use NNID services. Change your country back, then you can use every NNID service again.
Regarding Special Miis, yeouch... if I didn't knew about this trick since E3 2013, probably I couldn't finished the accomplishment too. :/

My rod only has 11 Anglers Big Catch Boost lv.2.
I used it for the first time today with 11 anglers and got two D ranks (and two Logs and a Jellyfish) and no A+'s.
Pray for me!
It's also dawning on me just low long it will take to max out your rank.
Plus just how expensive it will be to fully upgrade the UFO rod.

I've actually found money is pretty easy to come by once you've cleared the last island. I've personally rebuilt my UFO rod twice over (initially built with 8+ Big Catch Lv.2, rebuilt for 8+ Big Catch Lv.3, then rebuilt again for 6+ Big Catch Lv.3) and after that I'm about to hit the money cap again. A friend who goes to way more conventions than I do took it further, having something like 20 UFO rods on inventory (rather than rebuilding the same one) because there was nothing else to do with the money.My rod only has 11 Anglers Big Catch Boost lv.2.

Okay this is reassuring...
I assume you're catching multiple 3 star fish each time out...?
I cobbled together a rod after the first island and used it for the entire game so I had loads of money saved which then only upgraded the UFO rod halfway to max.
That's when I got a little worried / started cursing Nintendo for ever releasing this game
