The Witcher III: Blood & Wine |OT| One last contract, one last plough

My only issue so far with the expansion is that the grandmaster gear is ridiculously expensive to craft. By the time you have enough money/materials to craft a full set you'll be done with pretty much all the content that the EP offers. Haven't got to the vineyard yet but I heard that's also absurdly expensive to upgrade

I also had the same problem with HoS. Never bothered with the runecrafting quest for the same exact reason. Money is really not that easy to come by in this game unless you exploit, so I don't get why they keep locking all the cool features behind these in-game paywalls

Yea I'm playing on Death March NG+ and with fully upgrading myself from Master to Grandmaster gear I went from 90k orens to about 38k after buying the crafting material and having to re-enchant my Steel/Silver sword with the Severance enchantment. Because upgrading your swords will remove any enchantments. Which is kinda lame. I may have to collect all the floating treasure caches around Skellige to full upgrade the Vineyard.

Hmm, using Nexus Mod Manager and the mods aren't working for me. Game crashes every time, despite the mods already being updated for the newest patch.

Also, the cutscene fixer for 21:9 aspect ratios doesn't seem to work anymore.

Anyone experiencing the same problems?

Grandmaster Griffin set is actually bananas.

Add to the fact that you run around machine gunning igni because of the 3 piece set bonus.

I just got came across that bugged camp on PS4 that crashes the game every single time. Great. I hope it's fixed soon.

Edit: I had to walk around the perimeter and draw the enemies out until my PS4 could handle the amount of enemies left lol

It's like, here I am, a monster hubter for hire, and there are monsters everywhere off the road, yet I'm broke.

I just picked up the expansion pass on GOG since I haven't bought any of the extra content yet. Got the base game for free with my video card last year, so $25 all-in feels like an absolute steal. And now I have my gaming calendar set for the remainder of 2016. LOL

Couple hours in and loving it in general so far, this expansion is fucking massive :o

Just trying to do mainly side quests/exploring along the main quest.
I must say Touissant is absolutely gorgeous and I really love the colour palette infused.

The main story hasn't grabbed me as well as HoS intro which was delightfully creepy between Olgierd and O'dimm but the writing is still of such a high level overall.

Only weird thing is my lock on ability in combat randomly stopped working while playing and it doesn't back even after closing the game (PS4).
Anyone else have this issue?
Combat encounters are now just aggravating without this.

The piercing cold mutagen upgrade for aard is really good, I rock a hybrid light armor build but the chance to instant kill or freeze enemies with aard makes even groups of them spiders enemies a cake walk.

Is the player level changing for anyone else? Finished yesterday at lvl 71, came on today and my lvl went down to 69 (I'm on NG+).

Its that and also the camera sliding up as if the right stick was broken.

I've had that bug since launch. If you're on Roach pressing circle (making him jump) resets that.

Onto the expansion, I'm really loving it, but man is it buggy. Graphical glitches, enemy scaling resetting enemies to level 1 (turning it off and on again fixes it) and I had one woman following me around everywhere screaming "it's the champion"

but enough about the bugs. The feeling of being a poor Witcher is back which I love, upgrading the villa is really fun (probably why I liked Asscreed 2 so much) and the side missions have been well written...so far.

I think when I complete it I'll do a second play-through where I don't wear Witcher gear, the game has a lot of new armour but TW gear is still the best in the game.

Yeah the problem with it is that a lot of stuff can't be knocked over. That talent would be more insane than the crit one (normal gear scales the freeze-fail damage up to 10k), but because your +sign% has to be really high to get worthwhile damage, you also more or less never fail to freeze which makes it useless as a source of damage.

It is certainly hilarious to run into a bandit camp and one shot the entire place with greater aard, but it's pretty bad beyond that.

This happened to me after the patch. I was NG+ lvl 68 and was dropped to 66. Most of my Superior potions were dropped to Enhanced as well.

Will have to load an earlier save where lock-on works if you want to fix it before they patch the game. I had to go back 4 hours to avoid it, as well as stop the offending quest midway.

That's really weird. I wonder if its a by product of changing the level caps and maybe redistributing the amount of xp needed. That doesn't explain the potions though...

I'm absolutely loving it. It cannot be said enough, CPR are kings when it comes to quests. They humiliate other developers. Also, I'm actually more impressed with this game graphically than even Uncharted 4. It's just stunning. Always seeing the castle in a distant no matter where you are.

Thanks for the tips!

I need to get the Levity enchantment then, it sounds very powerful.

Also, I noticed in your build you picked Poisoned Blades in Alchemy, personally I went with the first one Heightened Tolerance which increases the overdose threshold from 75% to 100%, and increases potion time by 25% as opposed to 5% with Poisoned Blades. Just wondering why you picked Poisoned Blades when Heightened Tolerance seems to be what this build could benefit from? Or are you intentionally not going for the higher tolerance in order to proc Endure Pain?

Yup. Considering how much health you get from Endure Pain, using Heightened Tolerance means that it will take longer to get to the overdose threshold.

Poisoned Blades is pretty powerful. I can't find it now, but there was a write up about the way the damage is calculated which actually makes it much more useful than it sounds. Something to do with the fact that it doesn't target numbers, but percentages. Personally, I just like poisoning things. :P

Either one is good though, With B&W you'll probably be able to get both anyway, once you've unlocked the new slots and levelled up some more and found the new Place of Powers. Oh, and Levity is really awesome. ;) I think you only need Level 2 from the Runewright to get it. I could be misremembering though.

Here's a very short older video from when I was testing the build. Still need to experiment with the B&W additions.

I didn't even check my potions, I'll be super salty if they did that to me, had finally just got the last Superior potion I needed. I'll have to check them in a bit.

*Edit; It's lowered 3 of my potions, the rest are still Superior. ;_;

Bosses have been fun but that 3rd boss was sure a pain in the ass
because of Palmerin's dumb AI... I had times where I had the boss down to 20% with Palmerin not even hurt, and then he goes and stands beside it while it does that AOE attack and he gets absolutely destroyed. Wasn't a hard boss but it was tricky to keep that idiot from dying hehe though when I finally did keep him alive, I do so without him even being hurt at all lol https://youtu.be/7KqAYOl708M?t=4091
You don't actually need to keep him alive. I failed miserably at doing so, and he just got up after the fight ended :D

Ugh for real?
I don't know if I want to even bother with going back that far, too much time for me.

Ehhh I might wait for the patch, so disappointing :(

Whoops, not 20 minutes into the dlc and I accidentally skip past some tutorial text that popped up while I was riding my horse. All I saw were the words "Grandmaster armour." I'm sure it's not important...

Also, all the revamped menus are messing with the hundreds of hours worth of familiarity I had with the old ones, and I almost died during the first set of mob enemies because I haven't played since November. At least I'm still an unstoppable beast when it comes to Gwent. I love you, Gwent.

I sent support a save where I could break lock-on without fail by doing a quest, but others in here had it happen without even doing the same quest as me. Hope they hotfix it quick.

My god. Haven't come very far into the story yet but i've started doing something i didn't do through out the whole W3 main campaign and HOS. I've started pressing square during dialogue scenes to skip them. Don't know if it's the annoying dialects, or lackluster characters but i'm just not getting pulled into the story like before
Annoying dialects? I wish my version of the game had annoying dialects or even the slightest trace of regional accents.
Playing this expansion in Polish is giving me severe Ass Creed Unity flashbacks. There's basically no "Frenchiness" in the city of Bokler.
I think the only people who spoke with an accent in the Polish dub were the two non-white characters from Hearts of Stone, and that gets kinda awkward when Geralt specifically points out white folks' non-existent accents on multiple occasions.

Blood and Wine has one of the best easter eggs ever... the whole 'encounter' has so many MI references my brain still tries to process it all.

In the English dub Guillaume and other men/Knights seem to have a Norwegian/Swedish accent which is funny considering its supposed to be French inspired lol.

Just like you said like when it's assassins cow in France and they have British accents

:/ Game's stuck on this black screen after the end cutscene of
Capture the Castle
. I can back out to the home screen, it's just the game that's stuck. Gonna close the app, clear the cache and try doing it over again.

When Regis and Detlaff came in and started massacring all those mercenaries... Yikes. :o

Gotta say the romance side of things is very disappointing in this DLC. Only one option, and it's some random girl who goes
we won a big fight
, lets fuck? Feels like CDPR tacked it on as an afterthought because they needed a way to get Geralt laid. I'd rather they had picked someone who Geralt had a history with (maybe Fringilla Vigo?) like
Shani
in Hearts of Stone instead of her.

Shani
is still one of the most well done romance options in W3 (also Yennefer) after Hearts of Stone to be honest.
I expected there to be way more romance options in this.

And my favourite armor of the game might still be the basic version of the Ursine armor.

Was the character Geralt fought in the CGI trailer a bruxa? The fight in Blood and Wine definitely reminded me of it, never seemed to be in the base game.

I'm loving all these Monkey Island references in AAA games these days. First Uncharted 4
Guybrush is one of the pirates in Henry Avery's crew
and now Witcher 3 with MI1 Guybrush (only named Mancomb, another MI1 reference) and insult fighting.

I haven't touched HoS or BaW yet. I have a level 34 Geralt that has finished Vanilla. Should I do the expansions in release order or is a replay on NG+ worthwhile?

I have to wait until next week until I can play it because my girlfriend likes the witcher and wants to see it. So how is it guys? Is it better than HoS which I found to be awesome? The wait is killing me!!!

Just do it all in order imho. And then you can do a replay later. No need to hold off on fantastic expansions so you can replay the whole base game again.
