If they remaster GTA again I'm going to be pissed. Unless it's free this time.
Oh I wasn't even suggesting that, I was referring to GTAV selling a few PS4s

What makes you think there will be a Halo game for Scorpio? Would be as surprising as a Mario game for NX...
(...)
Halo 3 Remaster would have the same impact on console sales as Uncharted (Nathan Drake Collection): negligible. Another Halo (6) could do the trick, but the series lost a lot of it's mojo. But who knows, maybe they'll manage to come up with a new system seller?

That may be but I doubt they have much choice. Zen is looking like a high end desktop class CPU for the first few months of 2017 and even in a semi-custom 4C/8T version @2-2.5GHz I would think come in around 40 Watts versus Jaguar @2.1GHz around 20-25 Watts? Assuming both at 14nm.
Both clearly are going with getting as much bang as they can from the GPU whilst keeping the power (~150W) and cost ($399) down. Neither Sony nor Microsoft would dare pump out another $599 console.
I would love nothing more than to have both a top GPU and CPU but I just can't see it happening right now. Prove me wrong Sony/Microsoft!
i could see Microsoft allowing ~180W with Scorpio, but not more.
This initiative introduces power consumption limits to new consoles placed on the market and makes these limits stricter over time.
MS would be stupid to walk away from their most successful hardware consumer brand. They will not walk away from an ecosystem that connects them with 50-60 million users on Live. The blending of PC/Xbox, using Windows to spur innovations on both platforms, and creating a line of Xbox devices is probably the smartest ways they can leverage Xbox considering where games have been and are right now and are going in the future. The cynic in me can't help thinking: Drive the console into the ground, move Live over to PC for free, Make all XB1 games available to the PC, Move the XB1 OS over to PC, release Alienware like PC with XB1 OS (Scorpio), start talking about 'platform', job done.
But that's the 'cynic' in me. It might turn out completely different.
My thought is that - the Neo (IF marketed correctly and priced right $349 - $399) could seriously harm the Scorpio in it's 1 year advantage. Sony can potentially get to enjoy a years lead of sales of both consoles (OG, Neo) and in a years time drop the price by $50 - $100. If what im reading in this thread is true - there's a good chance the Scorpio will be anywhere from $400 - $500 which puts them into a serious price disadvantage going into the holidays (assuming it releases in Q4 2017). The power gap will be questioned as in "is it worth the $100+." On top of that with PS already at 40+ million and Xbox at about 20+ million another year with 2 PS consoles on the market is going to significantly outpace Xbox's market share. How many will jump eco-systems? I don't know. I feel like Sony is just slapping MSFT in every round. Even that quote how MSFT had to announce this thing because of Sony's NEO - they were caught sleeping.....AGAIN.
Hm, curious what the European Union thinks about that...

It's Halo 3 breh.
This shit is getting ridiculous...stop overcharging us for consoles and under-delivering on the hardware aspect. 2-3 yrs go buy and your $400-700 is obsolete and you have to buy something new bc they throw new ploys into the mix. I think I'm done with consoles all together and just sticking to my PC. 1080 GTX im waiting for you...
I'm hoping for at least a GTX 970 level GPU plus as much CPU grunt they can muster out of those mobile chips.
People hated iterative and complained about skipping a mid gen upgrade all of a sudden think the Neo is going to eat Scorpio's lunch. Will Sony have enough to show during that purported head start to make people take the plunge over sticking with PS4? That's the question. I will prob pick one up for persona 5 as I traded in my ps4 a couple of weeks back. But then again I was always down with iterations as long add the jump is solid. Scorpio will be my main though as I enjoy the ecosystem more.
I'm sure you're not privy to what all shareholders feel. Furthermore, shareholders want what's best for their bottom line right now, share price increasing by shedding weight and focusing on what works because share price is about the immediate short term health. Long term vision and decision making is about the company's vision for its connection to consumers with services and its reliance on entering and staying in different market spaces. Shareholders who have cried publicly for big ol MS to just be as profitable as it can be have obviously not been the ones making decisions for years. They wouldn't be moving away from it, they'd just be moving it over to PC. That would definitely keep their shareholders happy because they've shown in the past they're not keen on the console business.
Jesus. Not this shit again. Enjoy your $1,600 build. That's like 3 or 4 consoles.
LMAOI had to look. lulz

everyone's not gonna buy each iteration. that's the pointYou're right! And.... it'll run better than the rehashed consoles everyone will buy for many moons to come...

The Cynic in you is...special. Why would they drive anything into the ground on purpose instead of just pulling the plug. Which they won't because it's stupid. They have a lock on the game store on console. Why give that up?
PC only gamers....
Kinda surprised people still think Scorpio will release 1 year after Neo.
I'd be shocked as all hell if that happened. Why would Microsoft do that? Might as well not release an upgrade at all.
Scorpio will come around the same time as Neo. 3 months later MAX. Anything more and Scorpio is DOA.
3 months isn't going to secure Zen AND HBM2 for over PS4k having those things as well, they are going to have to wait to secure those more advanced technologies.
Of course, as someone else said, Sony's intent with PS4K sees to be an enhanced GPU for...VR capabilities, and power for gaming seems to be lower on the ladder, so that also could be a factor in not intentionally aiming high.
But i sincerely doubt they would go with a weaker CPU if they had the option of a stronger one, even if they wanted polaris and not Vega
Well after that AMD announcement, it's not far fetched that the Scorpio will release sooner than fall 2016 that's for sure
So you're saying that there are millions waiting to upgrade to Neo? You're saying that hardcore, early adopters haven't already made their major gaming purchase within the last 3 years?Kinda surprised people still think Scorpio will release 1 year after Neo.

source?
If scorpio comes out and says the current games i have already will play and look better, day 1 purchase.
Perhaps many others will buy it too to play forza, rotr, ori, h5, fh, and etc at higher fidelity.
Hoping it has a uhd bluray player too. Looking for my next gaming/enterainment system to support 4k.

People still hang onto this narrative that Microsoft is leaving the console business...jesus, i just don't understand how yall think that makes business sense with everything they are trying to do.
What I think will help Scorpio to a degree if it's every bit as powerful as suggested (especially if that later gen tech manages to get in there), while also launching an entire year after Neo, will be the fact that Sony, going first this year (if they do), might put a lot more pressure on Sony to cater to their previous console userbase. Whereas in Scorpio's case it might be held back less by this fact, as it could end up being viewed as more of a generational shift as compared to Xbox One.
Thus, Microsoft and developers might have less fear of not making a scorpio title that is also possible on xbox one. I'm sure there will be cases where that happens, but I think the pressure for such to be the case won't be quite as large as it might have been with neo. The main promise Scorpio will have to keep is making sure all xbox one games are fully playable on the platform.
It's the same as "MS only has halo/forza/gears"People still hang onto this narrative that Microsoft is leaving the console business...jesus, i just don't understand how yall think that makes business sense with everything they are trying to do.
Or if you want an MS console just use your gaming PCIt's the same as "MS only has halo/forza/gears"
Anecdotes here don't add up to evidence that upgraded consoles will be met with a lot of fanfare. That happens after the reveals for both, we can begin to see the sentiment building on each side and that would point to evidence of which console will be better liked, etc. Anecdotes right now don't amount to much because this is a forum for hardcore gamers to discuss games.... Both systems still need to be revealed before we have a truer sense of how much demand will surround each one. Even then... The presence of the cheaper base units means we will have an early last gen effect, where the base hardware become very accessible to the masses through price cuts, and concurrently, Sony and MS are satisfying the hardcore that are ready to move onto the best.Yeah will buy it too if it plays all X1 games better
Yeah will buy it too if it plays all X1 games better
Well with that phil said in feburary that all xbox consoles will be backward and forward compat is making me believe it will play them better.
Most likely will ask devs if they will patch for scorpio and give a spcheel that they don't have to remaster just patch the x1 version and save money on development/porting/etc. Idk though, in just guessing and trying to see it from a money and value perspective.
Would be interesting to see them announce scorpio and say all theses games will come with a scorpio update to enhance the graphics and frame rate (like what pc users do manually)
Could range from xbox, x360 to xbox one games. I def see 1st party games doing it. They have to show off the power of scorpio someway without alienating the current users.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Scorpio will have some kind of built in method of "improving" existing Xbox One games, but Devs will also have the option to release a patch that fully takes advantage of the better hardware should they choose to.
Expectations are running high here. I'm going to keep mine in check, but damn having 360 and Xbox backwards compatibility ready from day 1 including upgraded graphics on all xb1 from day 1.... Would move a lot of needles ....
