I'm worried the Gigabyte will be pretty loud. It doesn't look like it has a big blower at all.
It's WindForce 3X and the card is ~180W (a bit more for G1 probably) so it will most likely be audible but not loud. Wait for reviews.

almost everything you posted 2 pages previous was incorrect
Another poster who can't even begin to back up his random outbursts? Please excuse me if I don't take you seriously. At all.
I want to engage you in constructive discussion, even if I'm proven to be completely wrong in my own arguments. For that to happens we need to have a discussion, with actual arguments. If I'm wrong, then please educate me.
Good to see. Any BS at these putrid levels needs to be eviscerated.
They are on Scan.
Founders is a ridiculous £619 and the customs cards are an even more ridiculous £640+.

dr rus beat me to it. some example games where you cant hold 60 @ 1440p without lowering various settings
hitman
anno 2205
ac unity
ac syndicate
ashes of singularity
witcher 3
gta v
division
xcom 2
RotTR
FC4
DA:I
crysis 3
do i need to continue? and this is without ssaa of course. throwing that in is just pointless
I managed to get a FTW for £580 before they increased the price.
Thank you! I mean that. This is a conversation we can work with.
I'm starting to suspect that there are different goal posts in this discussion about what constitutes "max settings". Personally I don't consider super sampling to be max settings, for example. Those are just a cherry on the top if you've got power to spare after maxing out everything else. Others might disagree, and in that case one might never reach anything that is satisfactory in speed. But I see that we're in agreement on super sampling at least, so that's not the issue here.
There are a number of games in your list I haven't seen benchmarks for, so I'm going to have to take your word that they can't hold 60 fps on 1440p. Some others in this list I've seen multiple benchmarks for though, demonstrating that they can maintain a comfortable 60 fps. This includes Hitman, Rise of the Tomb Raider, AC Unity, The Division (though I suspect this one may have some large drops), and even The Witcher 3 (without hairworks, admittedly), and a few others. It can be hard to tell what settings some of these benchmarks have used beyond the basics, so I've watched a few YouTube videos where the settings are clearly shown, with gameplay immediately after.
One game that I had entirely forgotten about, and which you didn't include in your list, is Metro: Last Light. That game clearly proves my original claim wrong (ie. that the GTX 1080 can comfortably handle 60fps 1440p on current games). This is a bit of an extreme example though, made for technology that didn't exist when the game was created. Expecting to max it out is a bit unreasonable, even if it doesn't change the fact that it disproves my point. Crysis 3 is in a bit of a similar position.
So my blanket statement was a bit too simple for its own good, rendering it technically wrong. For that I apologize. I do still feel as if it's generally sound though, even if it doesn't apply to every game out there.
I think this discussion might not be entirely fruitful until more people actually have the cards in their hands and we can establish better ground rules for the benchmarks. There's too much variance for anyone to agree on anything right now.
every game on that list is confirmed
By whom?
myself and/or benchmarks
And thus we are moving in circles, since I've personally witnessed games on your list played at a consistently high framerate (well above 60 fps) on max settings at 1440p. Let's wait for more people having the cards to see what the consensus is.
Rumored is June 17th but nothing official, no sadly.Still no official 1080 FTW release right?

Bhphoto says expected June 16.
Great. This disaster I am dealing with at work should be done by then. But since I preordered from EVGA I have no idea if I actually will receive one launch day.
I would just like Amazon Us to take some pre orders for the Strix or other cards.
They've done a few already. All the announced EVGA, and the Gigabyte so far.
It's definitely true for Caseking. They've confirmed to me that all orders (for their customers atleast) of the FTW have been delayed to the 28th.I'm hoping these shipdate slippage rumors are false. With people having their EVGA orders charged and Gigabyte announcing a 7th release date, things are looking a little better.
What? When was the Gigabyte? Ugh...
8am PST.

Do you have a link? I can't find the EVGA FTW or the G1 currently available to pre-order?
Did anyone that ordered an EVGA FTW off Amazon get an estimated delivery date?
Tick tock...
Just search them on Amazon. They stopped taking preorders for all these cards already. The each lasted an hour or two.
This is absolutely true and you should totally believe it.Isn't amd coming out with a card that will rival this one for a quarter of the price and a lot less power consumption?
Hey guys, need some help / advice on my current rig. I'm definitely planning to upgrade to a 1080 card from my two 660Tis, but not sure what else I have to upgrade.
My rig:
CPU: Sandy Bridge Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs)
Mobo: Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 socket 1155LGA
Memory: 16 GB DDR3 @ 665.1 MHz
PSU: 850W Thermaltake
What can I keep and what should I replace?
Might want to overclock that cpu. If you'd rather just buy a new one, you're going to have to replace the mobo and RAM too. You should generally be fine with what you have though.Hey guys, need some help / advice on my current rig. Maybe just replace the ram? Not to sure how much the clock speed will really matter tbh. You're fine otherwiseHey guys, need some help / advice on my current rig. I'm definitely planning to upgrade to a 1080 card from my two 660Tis, but not sure what else I have to upgrade.

I had very close to your build except a i5-2500k and a single 560ti. Ended up doing a full rebuild. To be honest unless you get a new cooler and clock the CPU higher you're approaching bottleneck territory especially if you are considering VR.
Ah, yeah, definitely interested in VR down the line at least.
So what CPU / Mobo combos should I be looking at? Would prefer not to break the bank.

Not sure if this has been posted. Found it on the nowinstock website, so who knows how valid it is. Someone on here did say that EVGA charged their card today.
