LMAO it's Bob

Gies is on twitter saying that he thinks they will announce Scorpio at E3. There are some great tweets in the conversation. Gies thinks that MS wants to have something to counter Neo, even if it is a year away. Tom Warren thinks there is no way they announce something so far away due to the effect on current sales.

But Gies even asked Tom Warren if he wanted to bet on whether they would announce Scorpion or not. I thought that was hilarious and knew some of you would get a kick out of it considering Gies' history of bets.

I understand and totally agree with you, but it just really feels like that HDMI-in thing is the last remnant of all pre-Phil Spencer, Don Matrick Xbox One bullshit and it would totally make sense if they gut it.

Sell an adapter for the few people that actually use it.

And connect it to what?

He's out of bets for sure. But I hope they announce it. I already have a box so I don't care about sales.

That fact that this thread is still going just means that if any of the rumors are true and that they announce at this E3 the meltdowns will be spectacular.

Not that I'd take joy in that.

Meltdowns by whom? I think expectation of Scorpio announcement next week is 50-50 based on the posts in this thread. If there are any other threads you are basing that on, then may be there could be meltdowns.

I'm with Gies on this one.

or they could just leave the HDMI-in and not waste a USB port.

Nah, that'd suck, because then I'd be permanently down one USB port. That's something that'd cause me to not use it then, even though I use it now.

And even if they added more USB ports... they may as well have just added the HDMI-In at that point instead.

I'm sure there are people that would love more USB ports instead of HDMI-in

What's cheaper, producing a new HDMI to USB cable and adding Type-C to the Scorpio or just keeping USB 3.0 and the HDMI-in port?

Depends if you have to create the cable, or it will be industry standard. Still I don't know the answer I just don't want sacrifices made for this.

Does it piss you off people agree with me?
Do you have any better suggestions than what i made because id like to hear them.. Why do you think people will upgrade?
Wow, this guy. Surprised still here tbh.

Well, here's a few reasons:

1 - Price (6tf machine will likely be more expensive, though that is speculation, like everything else in this thread)

2 - Timing - Neo is going to launch before Scorpio, if rumors are true. Possibly by a year. Alot of players aren't going to wait a year to spend their money. That is one of the main reasons 360 had such success.

3 - Performance - people will still be playing 720/30 games on Xbone for the next year while Neo players will finally get that 1080/60 or 4k/30 experience.

4 - VR - sure, VR will perform better on the Neo. We don't know what the situation for Xbone VR will be at this point. Maybe nothing till Scorpio is my guess.

Any how. There's a lot more reasons than what you listed. You may want to tone down the console war tone in your posts.

It makes no sense at all to announce in this e3 the new xbox and in the same time the slim or revision of the xbox one. The news of the scorpio will kill the other announcements and makes no sense to buy an xbox one if you know in a few months a new xbox will arrive. It makes sense if ms reveals the scorpio in the gamescom or another event later this year and before this the slim of the xbox one is in the market.

But ms will know what are they doing i will love to see the scopio at the e3. I don't like the shit hardware of the xbox one(imo) and even the xbox one slim i don't care. So i'm ready for the future.

cost was never why I thought they'll drop it

They shouldn't drop it. They have already done a significant amount of work with OneGuide, why just dump that off entirely? Just leave it in and don't talk about it or just say all the entertainment capability from the Xbox One continues with the new console.

Sure, but we're talking about the removal of a port here. There's not really any reason to believe that we'd get additional USB ports in its place.

If they add an additional USB, and sell the adapter at a reasonable price (or better yet, just gimme it packaged in), then we're good... but does that seem like a very likely scenario, over just leaving the HDMI-IN there?

If Neo is announced while Scorpio isn't I can already see a lot of outlets talking up the increased power difference between Neo and X1 . especially if neo is announced
and Xbox slim is but doesn't really add anything but storage and looks smaller

Scorpio won't kill anything. It's still an Xbox one, just a high-end version for the hardcore. The slim would just be the entry level console and replaces the vcr we have now. No loss here.

It'll kill Neo hype.

I'm not so sure about that. I was reading the E3 rumors thread by Nirolak and the general impression I got was that if Scorpio is shown at this E3 but launching next fall, its a largely reactionary move to stop Sony from getting that solo unveil.

And while that may work, I think it's going to come down to the following:

Will MS have games to show?

Because I think the hype from seeing specs potentially is much less then say, seeing God of War IV running on Neo.

MS are going to need a game demo to truly be effective.

Maybe a new IP built from the ground up for Scorpio target specs, something that looks like a graphics technology demo but is an actual game, shootbang or some genre of mass appeal.
Maybe Halo 3 Anniversary could work if they go all out on the remastered graphics. Like just go fucking nuts with it, not just standard anniversary treatment, treat it as a new game built for a new generation.

at that point just make Halo 6 scorpio exclusive

That would work but do you think it would be ready to show at E3? (Or something similar)

I doubt it if the release is so far away.

I wouldnt be shocked if we have a few leaks/controlled leaks this week.

What if I told you I fully expect Microsoft to do their normal pre-E3 press cycle run up and announce a few things starting tomorrow? I actually expect this week to have more official news than most people think.

No just use a PC build and then throw money at it until it meets the PC build.
They need something to impress if they're not giving Scorpio specs.
