GT Sport E3 2016 Trailer

I'll still buy this, as much as I'm disappointed in it... It's GT.. I have to! (Unless Assetto Corsa really des blow my socks off... it has potential from all I've seen and heard)

Assetto Corsa will be a more authentic driving experience with better physics and so on but like GT sport it doesn't really have a proper career as such, more just events and no real progression. I guess for that traditional GT style career you have to go to Forza Motorsport now lol how odd.

So are Polyphony and Sony trying to make GTS into a esport? Sorry don't really follow racing games that much.

Also great trailer.

Yes, the game is based around FIA approved online championships, there is no offline career mode it's purely about the 'sport' aspect, hence the name : Gran Turismo Sport.

Penalty system is already confirmed.......... Damage is not confirmed either way yet. They are not going to have a license fia game without some kind of deterrent.

I think they actually talked about damage (implying it's in (which I think is pretty obvious)) but said it wasn't enabled for the competition because it would've been pretty hard for them to finish the races considering they hadn't played before and it was a very impromptu tournament.

Graphically I'm not really impressed. The 60fps gameplay of Driveclub looked more impressive to me although it only ran 8 cars on the track. Still, hopefully they improve things before launch.

I don't play many racing games online so I don't know how games with car damage handles online, but it'd suck real bad if there were people who just crash into you on purpose during turns to take you out of the race. Making be online racing mode more like "bumper cars" seems like the best way to handle that.

iRacing uses a Incident Point/Limit system to somewhat rein in people and it seems to work fine. Mainly having mature people there helps aswell as superb netcode.

I was expecting some kind of visual upgrade for E3... I guess it won't happen. :|

Still looks quite underwhelming. Still no damage shown. Same graphics issues.

driveclub isn't 60 tho and the vr game was bad compared to the regular game. I think this beats driveclub vr. Ahh gameplay footage. Read it wrong lol.

The AMG GT is just pure unadulterated sex.
I bet. I've seen a couple of them and they are beautiful. I caught up to one on the highway and when the owner noticed he stepped on it. It was amazing :')

That seems like a good way to do it

What I was specifically getting at was realistic car damage is bad when others online can ruin your car and hold you back because they want to drive like idiots.

For the record, when I play single player racing games I'll slam into the AI, but I typically lose online because I don't.

Not just casual, pretty sure most hardcore GT fans loved the traditional career structure that GT is known for.

Casual for me in GT (after all anyone that buy a realistic racer is pretty hardcore to begin with) = not into it for the competitive online aspect.

They are making such a huge mistake here, you know how there are games that you know it's almost certain they won't do well? that everyone question what the hell are they thinking like a year before the game even comes out (recent examples: reviving Homefront, The Order after seeing gameplay, SF5 after learning about the content in launch etc), so this game is a prime example for that.

Don't need to be an analyst to know it's gonna be a flop for a new next gen GT game, even games that are almost entirely online, that this is their all heritage and purpose, like COD, Battlefield, SF5, even fucking Titanfall, all are doing a campaign, so GT, that is built on it and this is why most of its audience plays it, is going to give up on it? such stupidity.

Guess I'm not the audience for this. Am not a photo-mode enthusiast nor an online focused player, so there was nothing at all in that trailer that spoke to me.

Trailers with sportscasts of gameplay are becoming big red flags too.

Just out of curiosity from those that say the visuals are underwhelming, what racer looks better than this footage on consoles that is 1080p/60fps?

Your choices are Forza 5, Forza 6, Pcars on PS4 and Dirt Rally on PS4................

I just don't know what people are expecting.

One of the worst trends in video game marketing.

Only DC and thats 30 FPS arcade racer with what 8 cars on the track? It looks good, most is just hyperbole. Forza and pcars are not lookers either. People want 60 FPS when they get it whine over visuals.

I don't like it either as I already have hardcore sims that fill that style for me such as Assetto Corsa, Pcars, Rfactor, GTR2 etc. GT seems like it's trying to chase the PC sim style and it will probably fail.

They are expecting PD to blow them away like they always did their first games on new hardware.

I don't know. Seeing them call it "The New Standard in Racing" makes it sounds like they're setting themselves for failure in the comparison war.

They aren't focusing on the comparison wars, they never have hence why PD is so far behind in some areas. They mean ;new standard' as in a world giverning body approved sports event, an event in theory that is an expansion of the successful GTacademy scheme.

For GTS they are going in a totally different direction, a direction I'm not particularly interested in but essentially it's now a different sub-genre of racing game then its rivals.

In what sense? It's big enough that whoever wins the champion is actually going to attend the end of the year ceremony to pick up their trophy

I mean is it the only online racing game to be FIA approved?

That Moon Over the Castle! should've used it through the end!

Anyway if they can get the quality to that first half of the trailer, I'm good :)

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is the next GT v Forza comparison thread.
The GT5 v Forza 4 (?) thread is probably my favourite thread of all time.

edit: where is that thread...

As much as people like to rag on Yamauchi for being out of touch with gamers these days, you can't deny that what he's trying to do with GT Sport is innovative, and for that I respect him. Hopefully he didn't bite off more then he could chew, but we'll see.

That should be fun. Definitely interested in any framerate and audio comparisons - two places where GT has historically not done quite so well.

I'd also hope the VR support in Sport would mean that the game would be absolutely locked down for all players, but we'll see.

Good trailer but man Driveclub has ruined my eyes for visuals.
I honestly expected PD to get somewhere close to DriveClub if anybody could. At least somewhere in the same ballpark. But nope. That's a big fat nope with a side of nuh-uh, slathered in ain't-gonna-happen-here sauce.

Well on the PC scene it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be in PUBS. Find a server with active admins and you can weed out the rammers and cutters pretty easily. On top of that, most serious racers in these games(Pcars, Assetto Corsa, Rfactor) all join leagues that enforce proper racing etiquette. Another reason why player hosted servers trump any type of matchmaking.

Great trailer, it makes the game look so much better, its already looking more polished.

They should have waited and revealed GT Sport with this trailer instead of showing that early footage, probably would have got better reception.

I'm eager to see the cockpit view and lighting effects in car.

DriveClub has 20+ cars on the track at once with accurate tire, suspension, body/drag profiles, engine/tranny profiles and runs at a locked 60fps?
