GT Sport E3 2016 Trailer

Great to see beautiful replays again, especially after the shitshow that they are in Project Cars. The audio here is still horrendous though, the footage is way better if you mute it (seriously). Until they fix the audio it's just not a viable game for me.
I just don't get it. The series is 20 years old next year. They've had massive criticism on the sound for what must be at least 15 of those years and still morning is different. They've promised it with every new game since GT3 as far as I'm aware. I think at this point we should just cut our losses and accept that it'll never happen.

Can't see the replays because I'm at work. Can someone tell me if cars take damage?

Yes, wing mirror's are seen strewn across tracks, flat tyres that in one scene came straight off ...and one cars bonnet (may have been the new BMW Z7?) came off and hit a marshall full on right in the choppers!

They're probably still working on upping the gameplay fidelity. Previous GT replays actually aren't all that different from the gameplay graphics outside of the addition of motion blur or DOF.

I wasn't claiming they did more than use motion blur and DoF (though it did seem like adaptive tessellation was limited to replays and not gameplay). The point is, it wasn't just better image quality.

Whether they manage to bump up the fidelity during gameplay remains to be seen. If they do, it would be a goddamn miracle at 60 fps. Seriously, I think now the replays look as good as Driveclub trailers (at twice the framerate!). I can't wrap my head around that at the moment.

Awesome, Thanks! That's all I needed to hear.

Should Microsoft just implement all wheels - also the ones from last gen - into DX input (we know wheel support is coming for Forza Apex), that could completely disrupt the wheel market. If the Thrustmaster GTS direct drive wheel would be under $800, that would disrupt the market again. You could expect a lot of T500 PC sim guys selling their old wheel and jumping on the new thing, if that wheel and the older G27s are then compatible with Forza on PC... that could be wild times on the used market.

new thread worthy.

I agree!

Damn I am one of the people who criticized all previous footage but I have to say, the ones from the site look GODLY. Holy shit. Lighting is absolutely unmatched. The car detail is also unmatched imo. Best looking racer, period. Yes I think it looks better than Driveclub. And it has 20 cars on track at 60fps. This looks insane!

The only problem is the sound. Polyphony PLEEEEEEEEEEASE improve the sounds.

Also, we have yet to see any damage... here's hoping we have damage and improved colision for the final game. Otherwise... all these graphics are in vain.

On the site they say wait for more videos with evolution of the game so they're not yet done improving.

Still want to see the livery editor being showcased and some different tracks.

Spa at night in these graphics = wow

The trackside camera replays are 30fps, it seems. Driving view replays are 60fps.

Ahhh... Ok that definitely seems achievable. Though I doubt the final game would switch like that. Either they will make it all 30 or all 60 for replays

After seeing the videos at GTPlanet, kudos for Poliphony Digital. Seems to me that they didn't lose their wizardry when it comes to graphics.

But heads should roll after the may event with laughable graphics and that spectator mode with floaty cars.

GTS looks far better than when it was unveiled in London. The engine sounds still need drastic improvements though. But hats off to PD.

Also, imagine another Tourist Trophy with these graphics. My fucking god would that be glorious...

OMG! The moment right after they leave the second "yellow" tunnel up until the buildings show up could easly be mistaken with a real life shot form a movie or something. That's some photorelistic shit right there.

Tarmac textures are quite good too, very crisp and very natural feeling when added to their fantastic lighting :

And in that last one, we can see how the rear lights'reflections will be during evening or a rainy event :

Tuning is in but No 1000hp skylines style tuning says kaz. Also said 1080p 60fps.

Could this mean "no more performance upgrades" like in homologated motorsport?
You can change camber and sway bars, ride height etc. but not change parts?

If that's the case, "no 1000hp skylines" is a shit-dodgy way to say this.

First, sorry it's taken so long to respond. You deserve a response but it's E3 week; so much to take in and this is a little more complex. Better late than never.

I've watched all three video's and read the article. Just a couple of points to make:
- The frame-rate test is a two minute forty six second video. There are circuits in the game with longer lap-times so I wouldn't consider it to be comprehensive/conclusive.
- In the same video, there's no environmental weather effects footage.
- In the same video, there's no night time footage.

Also, the writer says this...
Digital Foundry said:
As things stand, there's only so much that can be done within a highly constricted amount of render time available, and in this case it's clear that Turn 10's main priority was in maintaining a rock solid frame-rate with consistent controller response and top-tier physics, in order to deliver a stable, high-precision racing experience. And in those respects, Forza 6 totally delivers: we never see a single dropped or torn frame throughout the whole experience. From start to finish, Turn 10 achieves an unwavering 60fps - and in this sense, there is yet more refinement over its predecessor: the very rare glitches and hitches found in Forza 5 are completely excised from this sequel. Put simply, the rock-solid consistency is the icing on the cake.
What was the extent of their experience considering all the footage for the frame-rate video is dry daytime? Changing environments add technical complexities so why not include that footage from a performance point of view? Maybe they referred back to a demo?

Also consider the frame-rate footage was released on September 15th and the EU release date was September 18th. They would have got an early copy...but how early? Enough time to go through half the content and publish on September 15th? Maybe that gave them enough time to scrape the barrel and feel confident but it's not comprehensive enough to be conclusive.

I'd also like to point out how Turn 10's 'unfaltering' focus on frame-rate didn't appear to work on Forza 5, as the frame-rate test clearly shows. Nor did it work for Forza 3, as I already pointed out from experience.

It's underhand to publicly (and wrongly) accuse someone of lying to suit their own agenda, then to backpedal in the face of independent evidence. Your exact words were "Please don't play with the truth. You can get a message across without flat-out lying". You still don't seem to understand how that might piss somebody off.

And you still stubbornly say "All games drop frames" despite the DF analysis on FM6. This discussion is obviously going absofuckinglutely nowhere.
Let's face it, if Digital Foundry says it's stable all of the time, you take their word for it. You are informed on their terms and respond on that basis.

I'd say it's disingenuous to not offer footage relating to frame-rate analysis from more demanding scenarios, even though in the article they refer to environmental changes and imply 'From start to finish, Turn 10 achieves an unwavering 60fps...'. It's just too ambiguous. There's practically no chance they played Forza 6 from start to finish, never mind before that video was posted. Racing games are too vast and their objectives are different to a Eurogamer review.

As I asked above, contextually, what was their experience and why not show what they saw under more demanding conditions?

All this undermines the evidence, so why would I feel the need to back-pedal? I don't know how you ever thought I would back-pedal. I'm not that guy. I still believe games falter, independent of title, developer and genre.

Let’s not forget, you also said…
…are people really expecting Forza-levels of unfaltering engine performance from the non-PSVR version of GT Sport, even after the tenth patch? I just don't trust PD to be able to deliver this. They haven't even said it'll happen. They said it's a goal.

For Turn 10 it's not a goal, it's a fundamental truth around which everything else is built, and that's the only way to absolutely guarantee it. Kaz doesn't care enough about 60fps and v-synch. He proved this with GT5 & 6.
But Forza 3 and Forza 5 faltered?

If you had just said ‘it’s Turn 10’s goal’ then everything would be fine…but you went beyond that for no reason by saying ‘absolutely guarantee it’ which, as I have demonstrated, is not true. Turn 10 have form.

However, after all this nonsense, I do like how smooth Forza 6 seems across all three videos. In terms of performance it's way ahead of Gran Turismo. In particular, like the weight to collisions because it gives the cars more grounding.

On topic, Gran Turismo looks like it could be one of the most visually accomplished game I have ever seen but Kaz needs to double up on performance and little nuances that Forza does better. I felt GT5 was pushing so may area’s there was room to be impressed and disappointed at the same time but GT Sport is a different beast. Dynamics have gone for now so I would expect frame-rate performance on par with Forza 6.

Finally, I am sorry if I offended you. I just thought it was disingenuous. Maybe I should have used that word so I'll be more careful next time.

I don't understand why they didn't squeeze this trailer into the main conference. Fits right in with all the other first party games and it looks great.
