I don't understand how some of you guys are surprised by the news. Nintendo hasn't done anything remarkable in the past 3 years. Can't disappoint your fanbase if you have nothing to show at all lol.

Pretty sure no one here is surprised, also this news is very outdated- Nintendo will be showing Zelda, Pokemon and a bunch of other games at E3.

Also you can't really deny that Splatoon's success has been nothing short of remarkable, so there goes that argument.

to be fair, super mario 3d world is a really great game. one of the best of this gen imo.

It was absolutely a success, and that continued both critically and commercially through MM3D. 4 traditional dungeons is not an issue AT ALL. There are a variety of ways to make an incredibly engaging adventure game without sticking you in a zone trying to find keys in like MM and skyward sword showed.

It was a success, but to this day it's by far the most divisive game in the franchise. And a lot of its criticism is attributable to the fact that there's an enormous amount of downtime between adventuring/exploring since so much of the game focuses on repetitive, trial and error fetchquesting.

A dungeon is an event, offers a sense of progress, and is always something to look forward to. Majora's Mask, a game which actively attempts to kill your sense of progress suffers in the eyes of many due to its relative lack of them. Wind Waker is also famously derided for not having enough of them. Skyward Sword got away with the same number to an extent because the time spent between dungeons was in itself very dungeon-like, with a ton of action and geographic puzzles. Short version- the Zelda games with more dungeons tend to sell/review better overall.

I simply feel that Nintendo won't risk offsetting a small number of dungeons with the kind of content which is traditionally there to aid dungeons rather than replace them with an important game like Zelda U. 4 Dungeons simply doesn't sound realistic, particularly with the size of the world they're suggesting.

I remember Myamoto saying that they wanted a Zelda game where you could play at small parts each day. So the 100 mini dungeons would make sense. People complaining about the 4 main dungeon don't known a f..k about the game yet. I also had a dream yesterday. I dreamed Nintendo decided to rent a hall next to TGS to show off NX. I immediately booked a flight to Tokyo and rushed to the venue to play Zelda. When I was playing Zelda, which had glorious graphics, the NX suddenly broke apart and some smoke came out. Then I awoke.

I assume the wait is really driving me crazy.

Calling the likes of Mario Kart 8, Pikmin 3 and Splatoon forgettable is gutter-grade trolling IMO. Especially when no objective context is provided.

I guess they're going for the quality over quantity approach this time. Eh, it might work. Hopefully Zelda knocks my socks off. It's been a long time. I still remember OOT, Wind Waker, and TP being revelations when I played them for the first time. Skyward Sword was fantastic but didn't have quite the same magic - maybe that was just reflective of me, but who knows.
