105 lbs on a good day (I've always had an insanely tiny appetite). I also bike to work and walk just about everywhere, so I pretty much burn calories right as I put them on. Tried donating in college once, they told me I needed to weigh 120. I've weighed the same since 9th grade of High School, which was 11 years ago.

For your own safety, dont donate.

This was posted fucking 43 minutes ago. I woke up and, as usual, checked reddit. I had no idea this had even happened. I guess 10 hours after is acceptable on one of the most visited websites in the world.

My apologies, when I first checked there was a megathread for it and it was on the front page. Sadly it seems that when it was revealed that the perpetrator was a Muslim the 'news' subreddit mods shit themselves, deleted the thread, deleted (and continue to do so) any post that mention the 'M-religion' and for some reason have decided that mass censorship of anything that mentions religion even links to the FBI investigating religious connections is more important then the actual news.

I was unaware of this event, when I checked earlier the thread was in good order and filled with healthy discussion and debate. I was unaware of the news 'mods' grand clusterfucking. This in turn created a pseudo Streisand effect of more people battling the mods and their screw up then the actual news.

Again my apologies.

Yeah 110 is the bare minimum and they would likely only take it if they really needed it, 120 you'd be set.

I find a little disturbing how some people (not here) are more worried about people generalizing Islam instead of the victims and homophobia.

It's not really new - happens every time there's an islamic terrorist attack. Very quickly you'll see people getting defensive and doing damage control in news and social media.

I understand why they do it, but I also agree that it is disturbing.

Horrific news. RIP and prayers for the people and families affected.

I always find it fascinating when a horrible event takes place that people still post stuff on social media like nothing happened (5 minutes ago in my newsfeed):

This is some insane amount of jump in logic and people are rightly calling you out for it.

I am very affected by this right now. I can't even describe the feelings I have. I'm just so sad and I've even been crying a bit. I was just at a gay club on Friday and just have flashes and visions of this happening where I live. It can happen anywhere.

It's an extra layer of sadness that this happened during pride month. I'm without words.

50 dead.

Rest in peace. My hopes go to those injured, that they can power through this horrible experience.

The LGBT community has dealt with so much violence in this country. It's fucking sick to see this happen in 2016, during Pride Month.

Not everyone checks the news.
Yeah, I just found out myself.

Devastating news.

Let me get this right...

A man on the FBI watch list for being an ISIS sympathizer gets an assault weapon. His father knew he had hatred for homosexuals and didn't think anything of it. There was an armed police officer on the scene as security, but he ran away and a three hour standoff occurred.

Am I missing anything?

The shooters deserve the blame, not guns. How do you think this guy was stopped from killing more people? With guns, that's how.

We need to focus more on my he type of people doing the shootings and less on the tools they use, because you will never get hundreds of millions of guns back in the bottle.

We didn't blame airplanes for 9/11. After 9/11 we fortified cockpit doors and instituted new cockpit protocols while the plane is in the air.

We should do the same with guns and gun ownership. There's rational things that can be done to reduce gun violence that don't include outright bans.

Nidal Hasan, a Muslim, killed 13 people, and injured 30 others while shouting "Allahu Akbar" and his attack was classified as workplace violence rather than a terrorist attack.

Ya, that was bullshit.

But in general,

Socio-political goal: Terrorism.

No socio-political goal: Insanity.

I am not lending legitimacy to their stated views or goals, but if they do have one and act violently on it, that is terrorism. So this guy (probably), Roof, and Hasan = Terrorism.

James Holmes = Insanity

Infallible logic. Flawless victory. No problems here!

...fuck right off to outer space.

Think it might be time to actually move to another country. This country of ours is sick, and apparently politicians really have no desire to fix it.

Why should I live in fear? Not a way to live. Its like I won't go to a movie in a theater anymore, or just going to a mall or shopping in a big store.

We'll never get rid of guns completely, but I'm hopeful that if the Court goes left, we can do to guns what Republicans have done to abortions. One gun store in the whole state, bullets charged with a massive sin tax, huge waiting period, etc...

And insurance like vehicles. Didn't put your gun in a safe like you should have and someone took it? Insurance won't cover whatever happens as a result of your negligence. People will lock the damn things up then.

I don't know why this is funny? The guy didn't decide to shoot people solely because he owned a gun?

The gun was the vessel through which he was able to kill 50 people. The guns that killed him were the guns in the hands of the police.

Like do you not fucking see why guns and gun law is a component to this killing?

Law enforcement... how about we only allow law enforcement to carry guns? No more fucking civilians being allowed to buy them.

Japan is gun free if that's what you want.

It would be massive in scale but a gun buyback program to clean up supply coupled with new restrictions, tracking, monitoring and licensing requirements would go a fuck long way toward reducing gun violence of all types.

At this point, I'm all for federal licensing of firearms (annual renewals?), along with a complete shutdown of gun shows. I say this as a minor gun owner (I own a pistol). The issue with gun control is that buyback programs are going to have to be incredibly lucrative to make a dent in that 350 million figure.

I say that because people around these parts are very good at confusing "legislation" with "magical legislation" and believe that somehow a piece of paper can make 350+ million objects disappear into the ether.

The black market in the event of a total gun ban is an argument used by gun rights advocates (sometimes insincerely) as a reason why a gun ban is ludicrous. I'll lean in that general direction because I do get stuck on the point of removing law-abiding citizens with an option for self-defense. It just doesn't seem fair.

The problem is that body counts keep climbing higher and higher and there are no perfection options in sight.
