This boggles my mind.
Two oppressed minority groups cant bridge understanding despite historical differences and work together to stop hatred? We should all just be hateful?
This boggles my mind.
It's crazy. The dude had problems. It's hard to stop people from becoming a lunatic, but at the very least we can do some better controls on obtaining guns.Nah, Gaf preferms to blame Islam.
well then why the fuck are there so many gun control debates happening in this thread? obviously people want the laws to change; my point is that people have BEEN wanting these laws to change for a long time, and they get fueled up every time a tragedy like this happens, but the tragedies keep on happening!... What?
How the fuck would we know if none of these laws never get passed??
so how are you gonna make this happen? that's a solution in theory, but it's not a solution until it is a reality.Ban on hi-cap magazines, ban AR-15 style weapons, limited/full background checks on all firearm purchases to start with. All of which is exceptionally reasonable.
I can walk across the street and buy an AR-15 or any other legal firearm without a single background check.
See a partial solution to make this better.
that's why it's not so simple. simple in theory but not in reality. It is simple, but no one wants to do it because it is never a problem with guns. It is always, fucking always something else.
Oh don't worry, I hate all organized religion.Sure, the bible has sooo much love in it.

There is absolutely no reason to think an attack like this (Islamist terrorism) would be curtailed if we had more strict gun laws. The attacks in Europe should make this evident. The biggest issue BY FAR is Islamism.
Two oppressed minority groups cant bridge understanding despite historical differences and work together to stop hatred? We should all just be hateful?
You aren't alone, I feel exactly the same.Sad to say, I'm starting to "hate" too.
Hate Christians, hate Muslims, hate homophobes, hate racists, hate anyone whose belief in dumb fairy tales, stupid ideologies and imaginary beings causes them to be a threat to other human beings. And I do mean hate. I can no longer imagine empathy for their dead bodies whether man woman or child. That is hate.
I'm tired of their dangerous delusions and I'm ashamed to have been raised in a "book" religion myself before coming to my senses. All of the architects of the homophobic order are responsible for this, not just the foot soldiers. Fuck guns. It's the people and the society. Nobody praises the pen for Shakespeare's Macbeth or the chisel for Michelangelo's David. Blaming the gun is a copout.
I'm not trying to troll, and I suppose I will calm down a little but I'm more angry than sad to have awoken to this. My mind's eye is conjuring up cheerful images of a razed church or mosque. I tell it not to be silly, but it is a seductive image. How many are as mad as I am but will not be able to restrain themselves? Rights have always been ransomed with blood.

America didn't give a fuck when children were gunned down. You think they're going to give a fuck that LBGT people were shot? Especially when half of America probably thinks said people deserved to get shot because God said so?Will America finally wake up and start reforming their terrible gun control problems?
Or will people just stick their fingers in their ears again and pretend guns aren't the problem.
Apparently if your parents are from Afghanistan it makes you a radical Islamic terrorist though.Gay is not a choice. You sign up to be muslim. It's not a racial or biological.
Gay is not a choice. You sign up to be muslim. It's not a racial or biological.
Gun control is a obvious valid discussion . But, let's talk about the obvious motivation which is by far the biggest reason of this massacre.
It's plain obvious again the problem with Islamic scripture.
"And (remember) Lut: behold, he said to his people: "Ye do commit lewdness, such as no people in Creation (ever) committed before you. "Do ye indeed approach men, and cut off the highway?- and practise wickedness (even) in your councils?" But his people gave no answer but this: they said: "Bring us the Wrath of Allah if thou tellest the truth." He said: "O my Lord! help Thou me against people who do mischief!" When Our Messengers came to Abraham with the good news, they said: "We are indeed going to destroy the people of this township: for truly they are (addicted to) crime."
Qur'an 29:28"
Hadith
"Narated By Abdullah ibn Abbas : The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you find anyone doing as Lot's people did, kill the one who does it, and the one to whom it is done.
Abu Dawud 38:4447"
Once again, no one in Islam has the right to judge anyone in Islam. In Islam, only God can judge anyone.
Sure, the bible has sooo much love in it.

Literally all the article says about radical Islam is that there's no evidence he turned to radical Islam.
This shooter was on a watch list, but could legally purchase guns. I think there's a very good chance legislation preventing those on watch lists from purchasing guns would have helped prevent this.
And even if he did tune in to some violent extremism in recent months or years, that does not make Islam culpable for his actions. Depressed, angry, violent men often seize on all stripes of ideology -- from Nazism to fundamentalist Christianity to, yes, Wahhabism -- to justify retributive action against the world. This is not close to being unique to Islam. It also says he wasn't religious.
A mentally disturbed person who should have never been a guard. We seriously need gun control, mental health institutions, and respect for your fellow person.
i'm looking at pictures of this guy (if I'm looking at the correct ones of course)
and he looks like the biggest tool in the world
still shocked that this was a one person job
And wasn't religious, but for some reason we're having a conversation about why LGBT people should support Islamiphobia.the perpetrator bragged about being part of terrorist groups in the past.
All we need is prayer. At least that's what I keep hearing every time a massacre happens.
that's why solving the problem isn't simple. if you have to get around people with power who aren't letting it happen.... Because they keep getting defeated by the GOP. Again, very simple.
Try passing one of these laws instead of continuously deflecting somewhere else.
It's not simple because common-sense gun laws never get passed.
i'm not beating around any bush. if it's so simple, it would've been solved. and these tragedies keep on happening. if you want to have a discussion with me then cut the sarcasm.Christ...that, that is what you wanted to achieve by beating around the bush for post after post. Congratulations!
Maybe, as a person that just watched The Insider again recently it reminds me of the cigarette companies. They just didn't lose cases. They spend you to death to the point you are bankrupt or lose on technicalities and scare away lawyers from taking on the cases.
I would imagine the gun companies would operate similarly.
I would be fine opening it up but I would be skeptical how it alone would be that effective.
If their are so many bad fruit maybe their is something wrong with the orchard.Muslim people are not the orchard but Islam itself is and terrorists are the fruit of that orchard..The Koran and the Hadith make the highest level of claims and therefore should be subject to the highest level of scrutiny. I don't not like Muslim people, I simply just dont like some of the verses in their holy scriptures. Just my 2cents.Sad to see islamophobia starting to appear. Again.
Comparing this mad men to an organized attack by a terrorist organization to justify the lack of gun control in the US is also sad. Just a bunch of false analogies to shift the blame around.
There bad Muslims like there are bad Christians and bad everyone else. Don't use this as an excuse to hate an entire group of people.
I think its sad that I wasn't even phased when I discovered this news. It's just another day here in America. Mass shootings no longer surprise me, in fact, I expect them. It's fucked up. RIP to the lives lost.
On gun control; Lets stop pretending guns will be banned. There are too many in circulation right now. The only thing we can hope for is stricter gun laws.
Sad to say, I'm starting to "hate" too.

You can't restrict someones second amendment rights based on a government list that has no oversight. Anyone who is for civil liberties should be against this. They'd need to follow the normal legal process to have the person arrested if there is any actual evidence.
The legislation you're talking about is amending the Constitution.
I'm not sure why people are hellbent on making this only about guns.
Yes, the US gun laws are crazy.
Guns are an instrument that make murder, particularly mass murder, much easier than it should ever be.
The hijackers on 9/11 were armed with boxcutters. Ignoring the role Islam is playing in fostering intolerance and spreading world wide terrorism because it challenges 'progressive' mantras is also crazy.
I suppose it's easier to jump behind
#notallmuslims
or
#notallgunowners
than it is to actually challenge beliefs and look for meaningful solutions.
Do we know if the shooter purchased the gun legally?
a) You just moved the goal posts from such laws wouldn't have done anything to stop this to such laws would be wrong.
b) Then fucking amend the constitution already.
why does that matter? the notion for LGBT supporting islamophobia is bogus though. And wasn't religious, but for some reason we're having a conversation about why LGBT people should support Islamiphobia.
I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would go out of their way to defend hateful scripture like that in any book.Quoting scripture is ridiculous, you can find equally hateful speech in the the old and new testaments.
Islam in not the enemy anymore than Christianity is, but the extremists from both sides who pick and choose the hateful context without understanding, or more likely, willfully ignoring its peaceful teachings.
Should I bother posting a bunch of Quran/Hadith verses? because beating your wife is totally normal in non-radical Islam.Seems like this person was violent to begin with and then (possibly) turned to radical Islam.

Well said.Buddy as an exmuslim and a critic of Islam . Don't confuse Islam with Muslims . I just want people to be clear. Yes there is obvious problem with Islamic scripture and ideology. But, Muslims live not in one big broad ideology.
The best course is to challenge scripture and educate. Hating leads to bigotry which is exatly what we need to fight
And that makes it okay to discriminate against them?
