Xbox One S: 40% smaller, 2TB, 4K for movies/tv, internal PSU, $300

Why would anyone buy this when you know a more powerful x1.5 is coming next year? I don't even know how either of them are selling any consoles at all other than based off of ignorance. They're lame ducks.

Same reason why people are buying founders edition nvidia card. Just no patience at all.

Slim consoles are usually cheaper than their original versions, no?

That is never the case, usually it replaces the original Xbox One which gets a price cut to remove them from the market and the Slim version takes the current price of the original or is more expensive.

Because people want consoles now and the new systems are not yet priced and we have no concrete details on them plus many mainstream consumers aren't following the rumours and prices on current systems are dropping.

The plastic on the matte part definitely looks cheap. Like the kind of plastic you'd find on a cheap laptop in the late 2000s.

I know, oddly specific

Hmmm i actually thought it was the glossy part that felt cheap.

Ive owned the white ps4, and the 20th anniversary ps4.

More expensive? Not more expensive than current rrp, surely.

Show me the receipts!

It's ... beautiful.

Assuming I can get a black one at $300 on Black Friday with a good game throne in I am in!

I wonder what is streamlined with the controller.

It has a classy look about it. Something that fits right in with a home entertainment set up.

Not that the ps4 looks bad, but xbone looks better.

Put a gamecube with a classy setup and its a mess.

lol classy... its the fugliest system ever made, it looks like a VCR from 1985 or something... the bone slim looks better though still dont really like it.

Ps4 looks amazing.. you cray

That is in no way a confirmation that it isn't happening this year.
I'll be happy to be wrong, but yeah, I'm pretty sure that confirms we're not going to see it this year.

PSVR launching in October was the true confirmation of that all along, and now we can be sure.

I disagree, the PS4 is as consistent has a better design, half the size, and no power brick and is also easier to clean due to the vents that are all around the chasis. Way better design. How is the controller in X1 better designed with the box compared to PS4? Half of Aesthetics is visual design and the large rectangle is poor at the best of times. As soon as I saw x1 first thing I said was 1980's large VCR.

The XBO controller has an identical two-tone glossy+matte aesthetic and has the same glowing xbox logo as the console. Not only this but the power brick has the theming, and even the goddamn HDMI cables - they're customized HDMI cables with the same aesthetic as the console and controller. As a package, it impressed me with this attention to tiny details. The PS4 by comparison was a lot more workmanlike.

If you think the PS4 merely looks better, that's fine, that's your opinion. I can't tell you not to prefer it. Never the less, it's my opinion that the XBO both looks superior visually, and had a level of thought put into the aesthetics of the system and its peripherals that I don't think Sony or Nintendo have matched. The PS4 bothers me because of its irregular shape, I don't like the extreme asymmetry and it reminds me of the terrible modern art inspired building I work in every day where it's just funny angles and shapes all over for no reason other than to look different.

If this is more expensive than the regular Xbox is right now I think the pricing announcement is going to be embarrassing. For me a revision needs to make a console less expensive not the other way around.

Since no E3 reveal.

Neo isn't happening this year. Betting on a Horizon launch bundle.

But this is an Xbox thread, so let's focus on that.

If PS3 slim and super slim are anything to go by it would be announced at GamesCom and released in September.

Sony have revealed the console revisions at GamesCom and I expect no difference this time around.

It's never going to be cheaper. No revision was cheaper than the launch machine. It will be the same price as the current one or more expensive due to the HDD size increase.

Im all about premium looking stuff. Dont lecture me.

You forgot the actual unboxing actually felt premium by itself. The whole packaging and wrappings around the single parts were even within the design. At least on my DayOne bundle.

Yeah but the Xbox One is the size of my parent's circa 2009 DVD player. It's kind of jarring when you place it against a PS4 in my opinion. I really love the slim and think this is what should have been the original launch design. In an era where things are getting smaller and smaller the original XBOX ONE design goes against the grain.

My prediction...

Kinect is not included but supported...Front grille is not for ventilation but for an included stereo mic for Cortana Support.

TV features as well as HDMI pass through are dropped.

4K support for both streaming services and Blu-ray.

2Tb drive is spindle only, no hybrid or ssd

Price is $299

I sold mine earlier this year. Maybe I'll buy one again. I kind of miss playing halo 5 and master chief. If this is not a huge price hike it might be worth it. If it's around $300 I won't feel too bad as I got $200 for my old xb1.

I've always thought the Xbone looked better than the PS4. I know I'm not in the majority, but I just really liked the vent design.

I like PS4's but the light can get annoying when playing in the dark.

You're incorrect.

The design on the Xbox One is a far more timeless design. Current PS4 design will look outdated and goofy within a few more years. That slant already looked a bit funny at launch, by the time the next console comes, it will look dated as hell.

I agree the size is unfortunate, realistically though I think that's the only problem the original XBO had with its aesthetic design.

This is no ordinary revision, and PS VR further complicates your analogy.

They're setting up PS VR as the Christmas gadget to get this year, and Neo would muddle that launch.

They need PS VR to be as successful as it can be, even if it means postponing Neo to early 2017.

This guy knows what hes talking about.

Hell i bought the white XBO on looks alone. Never had any intentions on getting one, but then at the time they revealed the sunset overdrive bundle and i must have it based on looks.

Sadly i sold it off. The system just served me no purpose at all.

If you're going to draw that conclusion then I'll make a similar one. Since Sony publicly confirmed the existence of Neo, then that means it's not that far out.

Well if we assume the controllers in these images are to scale, here's a quick and dirty:

While I think every MS hardware design has been hideous: the original Xbox, 360, every controller they released... I actually find every X1 design very good and attractive. I love this one.
