Xbox One S: 40% smaller, 2TB, 4K for movies/tv, internal PSU, $300

what is this "streamlined controller"
what's different about it?
It is slightly smaller from what it looks like.
It's more versatile. There's a feature added that relates to a new announcement that hasn't leaked yet.
They're saying the change may adding a non-removable battery like in the Dual Shock 4, not letting you use your own rechargeable batteries.
Where did you hear this? I don't think that's true.

Fuck that if so. Don't want my controller to have downtime. I just want to smack some batteries in and go right back to playing.

Please, no. I absolutely hate the DS4.

I constantly need to charge it. Doesn't help that they give you the shortest cable ever. Luckily I have my own.

Honestly I use the Energizer rechargeable base and the controller lasts a loooooooong time even with headset in. Much better than regular rechargeables. I just set it on the dock every night. Never ran out of charge.

Microphone? streaming button?
It's neither. I'm in the camp that thinks we should preserve the remaining surprises we have left, so that's all I'm gonna say, and I'll leave it up to ekim if he wants to mention it since he's the one in the know.

1. You are expecting way too much out of a "slim" model console.

2. ekim has suggested UHD BD is in.

3. Scorpio is still a thing.

4. Who said there's no removable battery in the controller? (Not that I would complain, personally, I just haven't seen that said.)

I know Scorpio is coming, and I know that's when they hit the reboot button and address the performance issues with upgraded hardware. I know the Slim isn't that console. What I am saying is that it's emblematic of how Microsoft is handling this generation. They talk big like they hear their consumers and want to make things right, and then they just give us all the same games they gave us before and a piece of hardware no one asked for. And leaks are indicating the S may be at a higher price ($400) than the current model. If that's true, then I don't know if they are trying to rescue the brand or bury it.

Interesting. And I've been mostly successful at staying dark, so I'll agree with you and wait 12 hours.

I think a lot of people have been asking for a slim.

It was in the Xbox presser thread. When the pics were leaked it was questioned where the minor changes were to the controller since they weren't apparent to the front, and it was suggested they were to the battery.

What is "High Dynamic Range"?
In this, the fourth definition the term has been used for: Wide contrast ratio and better pixel isolation also allowing for greater color depth. Basically really pretty IQ that looks more like a window than a TV as you know it... if the media you're viewing is actually using a proper bitrate to support that level of fidelity.

Nope. I mean that could also be another feature (well not really since it's a downgrade), but the main difference that ekim is aware of isn't that.

Better crush?
It would be hilarious if they still used their proprietary color drivers that cause crushed blacks, but then HDR in this case is apparently related to a Dolby certification so they'll probably finally get it right.

You ok?

That Xbox One image is 3 years old...

Looks like a white PS4 to me. If you can't beat them, copy them.

No. It apparently still looks like a vcr, totally uninspired and like a typical MS design because they are no hardware company, not even remotely touching the never loud premium ps4 design.

Sorry to go a bit off topic:

Anyone here actually have a xbone to Displayport solution hooked up and working? We tried that at work with HDMI-to-Displayport cables and discovered it's a no go on some Dell, LG and ASUS monitors. Adapters didn't work either. Only common factor was the monitors don't have HDMI inputs - only VGA/DVI and Displayport.

Any ideas?

HDMI and DVI are the same connector fundamentally, but HDMI can transport audio as well. You would need to get a speaker system or plug headphones into the controller.
