But again, if that were the case, every RE game this gen would be PS4 exclusive and they're not. It's all been multiplatform. A base has been built up on both. It'd be really bad business to shit on one base at this point, and Capcom isn't in a position to do that right now.

Unless! It's a VR only game then it would make sense. That's the only explanation tbh.

Would be kind of weird to do all these rereleases and build up the 30th anniversary only to go NOPE. But then again Umbrella Coros might be a piece we're missing. No one cares about it, but it was revealed at PSX and is only PS4/PC.

There are reasons why SFV didn't perform as expected on PS4, but I don't see why console exclusivity was one of it.

What I don't get is why Sony is so heavy into 3rd party exclusives these days. Most franchises sell much better on their console anyhow and looking at their portfolio, they are still the only ones who are at eye level with Nintendo when it comes to 1st party support.

They seem to be in the business of granting wishes.

If the Resident Evil 7 exclsuive is true, would they cancel the ports of 4 and 5 for Xbox One? What's the point if those people can't play the installment on their system?

i dont think companies care about consistency like that as much as people would like. if some kind of exclusivity deal works out from a business perspective they'll do it

MH makes way more money for Capcom then RE.

Being "bigger" is such a meaningless descriptor here. And it's all entitely irrelevant when considering the current state of Capcom.

Not that i think it's exclusive. But citing "it's a flagship" was proven wrong with SFV. We don't need to go through the motions again.

To entertain this possibility my guess would be that this exclusivity doesn't apply to prior games. Thus why all the ports are coming but newer games would be exclusive. However with the way this is, it at most smells of timed exclusivity over permanent.

As for this other argument going, MH might make more money. But in terms of western appeal there's no denying that RE is capcoms biggest success.

Even accounting for films, merchandise, etc.?

I'd still think RE is their biggest IP. And it's certainly the IP with the biggest global audience for them.

Sorry, should've been clearer. Thats a guess on my part based on the relative budget of each game. MH just isn't as expensive as RE and sells like crazy in Japan. And it's been more frequently released recently and tbh, treated way better by Capcom.

I mean, they're remasters. One of the things Capcom specifically said they were going to pursue in one of their more recent earnings reports was remasters.

RE7 may not even be exclusive, but that doesn't mean a development fund for the title for a timed exclusivity couldn't be arranged. SE & MS worked out a deal for RotR, and SE isn't even hard up for development funding on a known property.

And one last note - all of this is speculated under the assumption that RE7 is in fact, called RE7, and is a continuation of the franchise. It could very well be a fresh start on playstation, and a rebooting of the franchise, taking it back to its horror roots.

Revelations 1 and 2 as well. There's been no indication at all anything would cause an RE7 exclusivity deal, and doing so would probably put their 4 million goal into jeopardy.

Monster Hunter's numbers are pretty impressive for being on one (handheld) platform. It's a juggernaut.

But that's not the stuff that riles up the masses during a conference. Resident Evil does that.

Devil May Cry does that, Marvel Vs. Capcom does that.

I don't think PC could carry it across that mark. You'd need a million at $60 by the end of March, which I don't think is possible.

Tbh, I think with the current state of XB1, PC would probably have higher sales then the XB1 version.

PS4 ver., espeically in Japan are going to make the biggest difference in whether or not it hits the mark.
